"DEREK'S OUTSIDE WAITING FOR LYDIA,"Β Scott informed Allison, Stiles, and April as they stepped into a janitor's closet to work out a plan to protect the Martin girl from Derek and his wolves.

Allison paused to look at her boyfriend with raised eyebrows. "Waiting to kill her?"

"No, waiting to give her a cupcake," the Sharpe girl muttered, and the Argent sent her a look that implied that it was not the time.

"If he thinks she's the Kanima, then yes," Scott replied, ignoring April but turning his attentionΒ  her and Stiles as he continued. "Especially after what happened at the pool."

"It's not her," the Stilinski insisted, refusing to believe that the girl that he had loved for forever was running around killing people and forcing them to take refuge in school pools for hours at a time.

"She didn't past the test, man," the werewolf argued as if they all weren't just there when it happened. "Nothing happened."

April sighed, running a hand through her hair and scanning her brain for any other possible answers. "Maybe she's immune to the supernatural or something. Remember, she got bit by a werewolf and didn't turn or die."

"Or maybe, the werewolf bite turned her into the Kanima. It wouldn't be the craziest thing to happen," Allison countered with a sigh. She had a point there.

Stiles shook his head at that. "No, it can't be her."

"It's doesn't matter because Derek thinks it's her," the brunette girl told him. Even if Lydia wasn't the Kanima, he would still kill her. "So, either we can convince him that he's wrong, or we've got to figure out a way to protect her."

"I really don't think he's gonna go anything here, not at school," Scott pointed out, but he didn't seem too convinced.

"You know," April mumbled, having seen Derek doing suspicious things at their school many at time before. She was surprised he wasn't banned from it. "I would definitely not be surprised if he did."

Allison glanced at her with a nod before asking, "And what about after school? What if we can prove that Derek's wrong?"

"By 3:00?" Stiles asked with raised eyebrows. Even if they could prove it, they would still have to find a way to show it to the Hale man before he snatched Lydia and killed her.

"There could be something in the bestiary," Allison offered.

Stiles rolled his eyes. "Oh, you mean the nine hundred page book written in archaic Latin that none of us can read? Good luck with that."

"Actually," the Argent muttered, staring at the ground in thought before looking up at them. "I think I know someone who might be able to translate it."

"I can talk to Derek, maybe convince him to give us a chance to prove that it's not her. But if anything happens, you guys let me handle it, okay?" Scott told them.

Allison stared at her boyfriend in confusion. "What does that mean?"

"It means you can't heal like I do," he explained, and the girl gave him a 'really?' look that implied that she was not taking that today. "I just don't want you getting hurt."

She turned around and searched through her bag for a moment before pulling out a crossbow with a badass look on her face. "I can protect myself."

"Oh, god," April exclaimed, staring down at the weapon in shock, and Stiles gave the Argent an impressed nod.

"What?" the brunette asked when Scott still looked really worried, and April had the feeling that her and Stiles were witnessing a moment between the couple. She almost wanted to look away to give them some privacy. "Did something else happen?"

Scott sighed, "I just don't want you getting hurt. Seriously, if anything goes wrong, you call me, okay? I don't care if your dad finds out. Call, text, scream, yell, whatever. I'll hear you and I'll find you as fast as I can. We have until 3:00."Β

He then turned around, but just before he walked out the door, an arrow flew at his head. Luckily, he was able to catch it before it plunged into his skull. They all turned to see Stiles holding the weapon. Allison grabbed it from him with a small smile.

"Uh, sorry. Sorry," he apologized to both the girl and the boy he had almost shot in the head. April glanced between the three of them before face palming. "It's a sensitive trigger on that."

"Allison, I don't think you can bring that to school. Side note: What if we filled a water gun with Kanima venom?"

They went through the rest of the day making sure that Lydia was never left alone. Someone, usually Stiles, was always waiting to walk her to class, the library, or anywhere else she needed. By the end of the day, they had come up with a plan to get Lydia safely away from the school and to Scott's house.

"If we're doing a study group,Β  why didn't we just stay in the library?" questioned the Martin girl as her, Stiles, Allison, April, and Jackson walked down the hall and toward the entrance of the school.

The Stilinski, quickly coming up with an answer, replied, "Because we're meeting up with somebody else."

"Well, why don't they just meet us in the library?" Lydia countered, which resulted in Stiles turning his head to April for help. She simply shrugged and gestured for him to answer her.

"Oh, that would've been a great idea," he told the strawberry blonde, and the blonde walking beside Jackson behind him gave him a thumbs up for his answer. "Too late."

Lydia stopped walking for a second with a confused expression on her face. "Okay, hold on..."

"Lydia, shut up and walk," Jackson ordered, grabbing the girl's arm and pushing her forward at a faster pace. Allison, April, and Stiles all glanced at each other before following after them.

They all crammed into Stiles' jeep, the Argent and Sharpe girls practically sitting on top of each other, and made it to the McCall residence.

The Martin girl climbed out of the car with a confused look on her face, and they walked up the stairs. "If we're studying at Scott's house, then where's Scott?"

"Meeting us here, I think," Stiles answered. "I hope."

"Thanks for doing this," Allison muttered to Jackson, causing April to raise her eyebrows at the pair. Jackson wasn't even part of the original plan. He just joined them at some point.

The Whittemore sighed, "I needed to talk to her anyway." That sounded a little suspicious.Β

When they were all inside the house, the sheriff's son slammed the door shut and locked everything he could on itΒ β€” the deadbolt, the chain, and the knob. He then peeked out the windows before closing the curtains. When he noticed Lydia giving him a weird look, he shrugged.

"Uh, there's been a few break-ins around the neighborhood," he explained, and she nodded, seemingly understanding until he grabbed a chair and stuck under the doorknob to barricade it. "And a murder. Yeah, it was bad."

April rolled her eyes, and Allison nodded to Jackson to get Lydia out of the way while the rest of them talked game plan. "Lydia, follow me. I need to talk to you for a minute."

"Seriously? What is going on with everyone?" the strawberry blonde asked, following him down the hall anyway.Β

After about an hour, the sun was beginning to set, and none other than Derek Hale and his pack showed up outside Scott's house. April, Allison, and Stiles were watching them from a couple of windows on the first floor.

"We need to call Scott," Allison told them, and April agreed. The hunter was very skilled, but there was no way that she could protect all of them from four werewolves β€” one of which was an Alpha. "Stiles, give me your phone."

The Stilinski boy nodded, taking out his phone and handing it to her. "Yeah, okay." She found Scott's contact and called him, waiting for him to pick up to start talking.

"It's me. You need to get here now. Right now," she paused to let him answer before hanging up and handing the phone back to its owner.Β

April pulled open the curtain once again to see Derek staring right back at her. She considered flipping him off, but she didn't want to make him madΒ β€” at least not until Scott got there. "What are you doing?" The blonde turned when she heard Stiles' voice to see that Allison was dialing a number on her phone.

"I think..." she started before bringing her hand to her mouth in thought. "I think I have to call my dad."

"Woah, woah, woah. That is not an option. If you call your dad, and he finds out that you're here, you and Scott..." April trailed off, hoping that the Argent girl got what she was trying to say. Not only would they have to break up, but Chris would probably kill Scott as well.

Allison nodded. "I know, but what are we supposed to do? They're not here to scare us, okay? They're here to kill Lydia." They all sighed in exasperation, watching the werewolves' movements outside.

"I got an idea," Stiles told them, eyeing the crossbow in the brunette girl's hand. The two females turned to him with worried looks as he continued, "Just shoot one of them."

"Are you serious?" Allison quizzed.

The Stilinski nodded quickly, explaining to his friends, "We told Scott we could protect ourselves, so let's do it. Or at least give it a shot, right?"

"Okay," the Argent responded, but she did not seem too convinced about the idea.Β

"Look, they don't think we're gonna fight," Stiles added, sensing the girl's hesitation. "So, if one of them gets hit, I guarantee they'll take off. So just shoot one of them."

April shot him a look at that. "Stiles, I don't think you're in the position right now to be making guarantees. What if it just makes them mad?"

"Which one?" Allison asked, looking out the window and taking a deep breath. It was really their only option other than calling in Mr. Argent and his pack of hunters.

"Uh," the sheriff's son mumbled before answering. "Derek. Yeah, shoot him, preferably in the head." His response definitely had something to do with him and April having to hold the man up to keep him from dying and receiving no gratitude whatsoever.

The brunette shook her head at him, mentioning earlier that day when Stiles had almost killed his best friend. "If Scott was able to catch an arrow, Derek definitely can."

"Okay, just shoot one of the other three then," Stiles told her with a sigh. He was a little disappointed that Derek wouldn't die or at least get harmed that night.

Allison glanced at him with a confused expression. "You mean two."

"No, I mean three." The Stilinski ripped open the curtain as April leaned next to the Argent. Derek, Boyd, and Erica were still out there, but someone was missing. "Where the hell is Isaac?"

The hunter held her crossbow up to the window, ready to fire when somebody grabbed her shoulder from behind. They all spun around just in time to see Isaac throw her to the floor. He then did the same with Stiles.

The Lahey boy turned to the blonde that had been standing in between her two friends. When he stepped toward her, she took a step back, causing him to smirk. "Are you afraid of me?"

"No," she responded quickly, shaking her head as he got closer, but it was not a very confident answer. Her back had now hit the wall, and he was about a foot away from her, still moving as they spoke.

While his attention was on her, April could see Allison get up behind him. She was about to hit him with the crossbow when the blonde shot her a look and gestured up the stairs where Lydia and Jackson were.

The brunette asked her if she was going to be okay with her eyes, and when her friend nodded, she crept out of the room and down the hall.

"No?" he mused, raising his eyebrows. He was so close now that she could practically feel his lips move as his breath fanned across her nose. She took a deep breath in. "Then why is your heart beating so fast?"

She couldn't focus as she felt the heat rising in her cheeks. She was unable to form an answer because for some reason, her mind was absolutely blank. His hands were against the wall on either side of her waist, inching closer and closer to the small bit of exposed skin where her blouse fell short.

"Because I really wanted to study for Econ tonight, but you guys just had to show up and make everything difficult," she replied, but her voice was shaky and unconvincing.

His right hand moved up to brush a piece of hair out of her face, and that was when she first noticed that his claws were out as they skimmed across her cheek. She could practically feel her heart almost burst out of her chest.

His eyes flickered down to her lips, but they were interrupted by Allison yelling from upstairs, "Guys, it's here."

The Lahey boy's head turned in surprise when he saw that the Argent wasn't on the ground, which gave April just enough time to grab a vase that was sitting on a table near her hand. She slammed it against the boy's skull as hard as she could, and it shattered.

Isaac fell to the ground, holding his head, and at the sound of the breaking glass, Scott, who had just arrived, came running into the room. He scanned the scene and watched as the Lahey boy stood back up, yellow eyes glowing. The McCall swiftly grabbed the boy's shoulder and threw him against the wall before he could attack again.

Derek's beta slid to the floor, unconscious, and Scott picked up him and a paralyzed EricaΒ β€” who Allison had just pushed down the stairsΒ β€” and threw them out the door to a frowning Alpha.

"I think I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me, Scott," Derek told him as him, Allison, April, and Stiles stepped out onto the porch. "You're not an Omega. You're already an Alpha of your own pack. But you know you can't beat me."

"I can hold you off until the cops get here." The McCall boy glared at the man that used to be his mentor, and they heard police siren wailing in the distance. The Hale man's smug smile dropped.

All of a sudden, a hiss came from above them, and they all whipped their heads around to see the Kanima, scaly tail and all, climbing on top of Scott's roof. It roared at them before running off.

Derek glanced at the two Betas that were not very useful at that moment before turning to Boyd, knowing that the police would probably throw him in jail again if he was caught with two injured teenagers. "Get them out of here."

"Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?" They all stared at the angry and shocked Martin girl that had just walked out of the house.

"It's Jackson."
