[ RECAP ]
"Oh my Asahi," I laugh at his confusion. "Yamamoto, is just an old friend of mine."
"Ooooh," Hinata understood. "Anyways, I came looking for you because someone wants to meet you."
"Someone wants to meet me?"
"Yup," he nods his head. "Kuroo told him how great of an ace you were, so he invited you to practice with us."
"What's his name?"
"Bokuto," he responds.
"You should go," Yamoto tells me. "He's one of the top 5 Ace's in Japan. He could help you a lot if you still want to become an Ace."
"You sure? I just reunited with you and I still need to know how you been doing these past few years," I say.
"I'm sure! We could catch up later! Not much has happened either way so go on and meet Bokuto," Yamamoto shoos me off.
"Okay then," I stand up and stopped myself before I left with Hinata. "Can you tell Asahi that I will be with Hinata and if he could watch over Minoru for a bit?" Yamamoto gives me a thumbs up and I follow Hinata to another gym.
"Bokuto is really awesome," Hinata beams. "He's an amazing ace and will gladly teach you about being an ace!"
"Really?" I smile at Hinata's excited state. "What school is he from?"
"Fukurodani, "Hinata responds. "He's the captain of the team!"
Fukurodani? Why does that school name sound familiar? I shrugged the thought off as we finally reached the entrance of the gym. I walked in and saw a ball coming my way at a high speed. I quickly move to the side and the ball brushes my cheek.
"I'M SO SORRY!!!!" I saw a tall, black and white-haired boy running in my direction. He looked like an actual owl which made me smile a bit. "DID I HURT YOU?!"
"No, no, no," I try to calm him down. "Just be careful next time okay?"
He gives a small nod and his expression changes once he saw Hinata. "HINATAAAAA!!!"
"BOKUTOOO," Hinata puts his hands up. So this is Bokuto. I thought being an ace would mean his spikes would be a bit better.
"Sorry for almost killing your friend," Bokuto runs his nape. "Tsukki sucks at setting."
"I'm not even supposed to be setting for you," Tsukki sends him a glare.
"Bokuto, this is Y/N," Hinata introduced me. "She's the ace that Kuroo told you about!"
"HEY HEY HEY!!!" He shouts loud enough to almost make my ears burst. "I'm Bokuto and I'm one of the top 5 aces in Japan!"
"Imagine not being top three," I heard Kuroo snicker.
"Shut up!"
"Couldn't be me," Tsukki smirks.
In a matter of seconds, Bokuto went to a corner and turned into a small ball. "What's wrong with him?"
"He gets emotional easily," Kuroo responds. "It's called an emo mode."
"Hey Bokuto," I walk over to his figure and crouch down to be face to face with him. "A little birdie told me you're amazing on the court. I can't believe I'm being blessed to be in your presence."
Bokuto's sad expression turns to a happy and prideful one. I even saw how his mood changed his hairstyle. "You're right!"
"Wow," I heard a voice say behind me. "I see you're able to handle Bokuto's emo modes pretty well."
I turn around and my eyes meet gunmetal piercing blue ones. The same pair of eyes as Minoru's. Akaashi. It felt as if the world came to a complete stop. As if time froze, once we made eye contact. "Shit," I mutter.
"What?"
"Nothing!"
"Wait," Akaashi takes a step closer to me. "Y/-"
"HEY HEY HEY AGAISHIIIII," Bokuto places an arm around Akaashi. "She's going to practice with us right now! I heard she's really good so I want to see what she's got! We're going to play a 3 v 3!!!"
"Make it a 4 v 3," Kuroo speaks up. "Lev is going to play. He needs more practice."
As the third-years surround tired Lev on the floor, ordering him to get up, I couldn't take my gaze off of Akaashi. Shit, he was still as attractive as ever. His messy black hair and stunning eyes were the same as Minoru's. There was no uncertainty that he was Minoru's father.
I didn't think I would run into him so soon already. If he saw Minoru, would he know? Does he even remember who I am? I rarely talked to him in junior high and it would be crazy if I go up to him and tell him I'm the mother of his child. Would he even believe me if I told him? What should I do? My thoughts get interrupted when I see Akaashi's gaze landing on me.
"Y/N," he calls out. "We should catch up after this match." So he does remember me. "If you want to, of course."
"It's fine with me Akaashi," I nod. I may have seemed calm on the outside, but on the inside, I was panicking. My biggest fear of running into him was just realized. This wasn't how I thought we would see each other again.
"Okay," Kuroo speaks up. "I'll have Lev, Tsukki, and Hinata."
"Isn't that a bit unbalanced?" Akaashi glares.
"Trust me," Kuroo's eyes land on me, and smirks. "She's a good one." Akaashi looks at me and gives a nod to Kuroo.
"If you have any problem with my sets, tell me and I'll fix them," Akaashi tells me as we walk to our side of the net. I wasn't worried about his sets at the moment, I was more worried about the situation that I was in. It was a lot to process but I somehow managed to keep calm.
"Let's see what you got," Bokuto gives me a grin and I return one back. Kuroo starts the match by serving. I was able to receive the ball and passed it to Akaashi.
Akaashi sets the ball and my eyes were attached to it as it was flying in midair. I swing my arms back and jump with all my might. The set was flawless as if it matched my speed and jumping reach perfectly.
As my hand was about to make contact with the ball, I decided to make a cross-court shot since there was a three-man block in front of me. Kuroo realized this and tried to prevent me from crossing him.
BAM
Akaashi's and Bokuto's eyes widen as they realized how much power I actually had since this was their first time seeing me play. Once I landed, I turned to Akaashi who had a small smile on his face.
"Perfect."
