fifteen.            i need a nap

▬▬ CORI BOUNCED ON HER TOES excitedly as Edward stepped forward, along with Carlisle, mostly because she thought the idea of Edward getting his ass kicked was beyond hilarious. Emmett chuckled at her excitement as he leaned against the trunk of a tree, his arm winding around her waist to pull her closer to him.

"Seriously?" Edward gave the girl a rather annoyed look, to which she just shrugged and he sighed as he settled his eyes on Carlisle, getting a nod from the older vampire. They changed at each other, then Carlisle dropped and slid through the dirt and Edward jumped over him. Once he was on his feet, they charged again, this time meeting face to face as they grappled, each trying to get a better grip. But Edward knew every move the blond man was gonna make before he made it, and he got him pinned to the ground.

Cori huffed and leaned back into Emmett's chest and he kissed the top of her head as his hand rested on her stomach, holding her close to him. Edward stood up, a proud smile on his face and looked over at Jasper, expecting some kind of praise... which he did not get. "One more thing..." Carlisle jumped up and slammed him to the ground with a grunt. "Never turn your back on your enemy."

"Hey, Bell, you got pom poms?" Cori asked, looking over at her sister.

"Do I look like I have pom poms?" Bella questioned.

Rosalie looked between the two, her golden eyes narrowed for a moment. "She doesn't look like she's ever touched pom poms."

"Have you?" Cori asked, her eyebrow raised. The blonde rolled her eyes, dropping her arms to her side as she made her way over to Jasper. And even though she lost, she was great. Fast, strong and unrelenting, until he eventually got her pinned to the ground.

"Cori." Jasper nodded and she almost cheered as she made her way towards him. "Remember, stay in control. You can do this."

She nodded looking up at him, and she wasn't sure when it had happened but he had become her best friend. The person she trusted the most. "I can do this." He nodded once, and with that Cori attacked, throwing her fist out only for him to duck out of the way. She groaned a little, throwing punch after punch, never landing a single blow as he simply leaned out of the way. "It's Mario Kart all over again." She huffed and he could feel her anger rising, she reached out and grabbed his wrist before tossing him over her shoulder. He hit the ground with a grunt, but was on his feet in seconds.

Cori charged ready to attack again, but he beat her to it and suddenly a rush of emotions hit her, she couldn't pinpoint them but it was overwhelming. He pinned her to the dirt, his hands on her shoulders and she squeezed her eyes closed as she tried to work through the tidal wave of emotions. He stopped when she didn't fight back, staying by her side as she shook her head.

"Cori?" He tried, then he felt it, the overwhelming rush that she was buried under. "Block it out."

"How?"

"Focus on my voice." His voice was calm, his drawl thick. "Breathe in," she inhaled. "-and out." She exhaled as she sat up, her golden eyes on the dirt below her as she fingers curled around is sleeve in a vice grip. She felt a little better, lighter, the emotions fading as she looked up at him. "Better?"

"Your gift sucks, too." She muttered and he chuckled. "Why'd it hit that hard? I've held your hand for longer and it's never felt like that."

"You were thinking about it." Edward answered. "When you grabbed his wrist, you were thinking about what it felt like, how he felt. It depends on you."

"Well, I don't like it." She huffed, running her hand over her braids as she made her way over to Emmett. "Hold me?" She pouted and he chuckled a little as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into his chest, kissing her temple. As the two held onto each other, Jasper continued, waving Alice over.

Jasper made the first move, but she stepped to the side, dodging it with ease. Just like she did every other move he made. She twirled out of the way, gracefully dodging every attack he tried until he grabbed her by her biceps. A smirk played on his lips and he leaned in for a kiss but she shook him off and disappeared. He turned, looking around but he saw no sign of her until she dropped down from a tree onto his back, pressing a kiss to his lips before she dropped to her feet. And all he could do was smile as he watched her walk away.

After a few more rounds of sparring, everyone had decided it was enough for the day. All thoroughly exhausted and annoyed that no one could actually beat Jasper but Alice. Cori stepped away from Emmett, bouncing on her toes towards the wolves as they turned to leave.

"Bye." She waved and Paul made his way over to her, he was huge standing before her and she smiled up at him. "Tell your girlfriend to call me. I miss her and Kim." He left out a puff of air as an acknowledgment as he nodded his huge wolf head once, and everyone of the Cullens watched with curious eyes. She reached up, her hand just barely grazing the fur on his ears. "You're really pretty, anyone ever-" The second her palm landed on his forehead, her eyes grew wide as a feeling of fire burned through her. Paul stepped back, his eyes wide as she let out a scream and the Cullens all moved, rushing towards her as she shook. Edward pushed Bella back, his eyes on the young girl as her thoughts ran through his head, each one more panicked then the last.

A ripping sound silenced her screams and her clothes fell to the ground in mere shreds as a wolf took up the space she had previously occupied. She was solid black, so black that some of her long fur looked blue as she shuffled on her paws before falling to the side, unable to hold herself up with the sheer amount of confusion rolling through her.

"What the hell is going on?" It came out a series of whimpers as her eyes scanned the confused faces of the Cullens.

"Shit."

"Cori phased?"

"She touched me."

"P-Paul?"

The gray wolf made his way over to her, brushing his nose against the side of her head to get her attention. "You're okay. Just breathe."

"Carlisle?" Emmett panicked, his eyes wide as he looked over at the older vampire. "How the hell is this happening?"

"I don't know." He shook his head, just as baffled as the rest of them as Cori let out more whimpers. She tried to stand but stumbled and her large body hit the ground.

"She's panicking." Jasper stated.

"Tell them to back up." Sam looked over at Edward as he made his way towards Cori, she was smaller than them - not as tall and definitely not as wide. But bigger than a regular wolf. She pushed herself up on shaky paws, her eyes on Sam.

"Give her some space." Edward told the other they all stepped back, well, Emmett didn't as his golden eyes scanned every inch of her.

"Come on." Travis grabbed his arm and tugged, but he didn't budge and the second Cori locked eyes with him she nearly melted. A series of whimpers left her as she sunk to the ground again, unable to hold her large body up or look away from the vampire before her. Her ears flattened against her head and she tucked her nose under her paws, her blue eyes on him.

"She can imprint?" Jared questioned, staying back because he knew what she needed was space.

"Looks like it." Embry stated, staying close to his side.

"Breathe. Focus." Sam's voice filled her head, but she could barely hear a word he said as images of her and Emmett flashed through her head. A feeling of belonging washed over her, her doubts dissipated into nothing and all she could do was whine as she looked at him.

"She imprinted." Edward stated, his confusion growing.

"What?" Bella nearly shouted, stepping closer to Edward. "On who?"

"Emmett."

"Cori, breathe." Sam's voice took a more commanding tone and she shifted her gaze to him and took a breath. And some of her panic faded as she closed her eyes, calm washing over her then suddenly it was all she felt.

Everyone watched with wide eyes as the wolf grew smaller, until nothing but a naked, shaking Cori laid in the dirt, her arms wrapped around herself. Rosalie was at her side in a second, shedding her jacket and wrapping around her shoulders.

"Well, that was interesting." Travis mumbled as Cori leaned against the blonde's side, her eyes closed.

"I need a nap." She muttered. "Do vampires nap?" She asked as Rosalie helped her to her feet.

"You'd be the first." She rubbed the girl's back and she simply hummed before looking back at the wolves, who had yet to move.

"I'm fine. Go." She gave them a smile and very reluctantly, they left. Paul glanced back at her once more before following after the others, he made a mental note to check on her later and not that it surprised him but the other guys simply agreed. "I didn't think I could phase." She mumbled looking up at Carlisle, but everyone saw how she fought not to look at Emmett. "I wouldn't have-"

"It's okay." He gave her that kind smile of his. "You did nothing wrong." He patted her shoulder. "Mirrors are rare, not much is known about them. There have only been two, as far as I'm aware. There's no telling what your gift can do."

"Well, add that to the list of things I don't want to do again." She muttered, leaning into Rosalie's side, her eyes finally moving to Emmett and she felt just like she had before. "Wow." The word left her as a mere breath, her eyes never leaving his.

"I'm just that good looking, right?" He joked, hoping to ease the tension that lingered in the air.

"Something like that." She hummed. "Can we go home?"

"Of course, Shortcake." He nodded and she made her way over to him, tucking herself into his chest with a content sigh before he picked her up. She wrapped her legs around his waist, tucking her nose into his neck, as he tugged Rose's jacket down to cover her ass then he took off in the direction of the Swan house.

⚘‎ nova speaks┆ it took me so long to figure what gift i wanted cori to have, at one point i even considered not giving her one at all , but i really wanted her to be a badass lol

anyway, she's a mirror!
