002 — ARMOURED TRUCK

Laura took a bite out of her cheeseburger that Wade had reluctantly brought for her, as she stared over at Peter as he applied sunscreen to his face unlike everyone else who was gearing up for a fight. She didn't understand why he was there, he was definitely going to be the first to die.

"I don't know much about this Cable fella...but I guarantee he hasn't killed as many people as melanoma has." He spoke up above the sounds of the airplane. Laura didn't know who melanoma was but she already knew that the man was very wrong in his statement.

The co/pilot turned to the team and let them know that they were getting close to their target. Wade stood as he started a speech no doubt trying to inspire the team. "As a former X-Man-" Laura choked on her burger at this.

"Trainee." Bedlam butted in correcting Wade.

"Thank you, Bedlam." He gritted out disgruntled that he had called him out before he continued on. "I was always appalled by the blatant sexism in the groups name." This caused Laura to groan knowing where this conversation was about to go again. "X-Men! Men! The point is, our group will be forward thinking. Gender neutral. From now on, we'll be known as...X-Force." He announces to them as he crosses his arms over his chest to symbolize an X.

Laura just shook her head at the man. "No X." She repeated what she had told him the day before.

"Isn't that a little derivative?" Domino asked.

Wade gave her an offended look. "I don't recall asking your opinion, Peter."

Peter looked up confused as he shook his head. "That wasn't me." Laura huffed already regretting agreeing to come along with Wade. She hadn't told Derek what they're up to as she suppose to be laying low and staying out of trouble but in reality she got out of one supernatural situation to just be thrown into this.

Wade walked down the aisle of the plane as he explained his plan to the team. "Hang the laundry out at 1,300 feet, intercept the convoy, and grab the boy."

"Let's bring on the carnage, baby!"
"Get me in the ground, watch me go!"

"Yeah!" They all whooped.

"I can't wait to kill!" Shatterstar yelled out causing Laura to give the seemingly unstable alien a cautious look. She knows she's got blood on her hands but she doesn't take pleasure in killing people for fun.

"Hey, hey, hey. I just wanna say how proud I am of this team. You know, you guys look amazing!" Laura took a quick glance down at her attire, she wore a black sleeveless bodysuit along with black combat boots and black and silver wrist cuffs.

"Vanisher, I have no doubt you look amazing too. This is the family that I've always dreamed of having and I...ah shit" Wade sniffled and hung his head as he teared up under his mask. "I just get a little choked up sometimes—"

"— I hate to interrupt, but is anybody nervous about the high winds?" Peter asked the group anxiously as he looked around seemingly the only one bothered by the information.

"Gary."
"My names Peter." He corrected.

"I realise that you're new to this, but relax. You've been chosen by a higher power." Wade said.

"Did he just call himself God?" Domino asked. Laura snorted at her question finding it funny as she knew Wade would definitely believe he was a God.

"I think he did." Bedlam confirms as he kept a hold of the straps behind him.

"I'd like to go home." Peter said as he started to freak out.

"And I'd like the McRib to be available year round, but sometimes dreams don't come true. I spent 10 years in Special Forces. You think we didn't jump out of a plane because of a light breeze? You're in this shit now, Mustache!" Wade screamed at Peter getting in his face before stroking his cheek and leaning in. "I'm only yelling to impress the other guys. I would never let anything happen to you SugarBear." He said in a really loud whisper causing them all to hear exactly what he said.

"Leonard, hit it!" He yelled to the co/pilot.

AC/DC blasted through the plane as the hatch opened. Laura stood and followed the group to the edge of the drop.

"Go! Go! Go!" Wade yelled at them as he stood facing them crossing his arms over his chest in the form of an X.

Laura watched the team all jump out one by one until Peter was left, he decided on sitting on the edge rather than jumping like a normal person. Laura shook her head at him. "Idiota" she murmured before shoving him out and smiling cheekily up at Wade.

"He was taking too long." She shrugged before saluting him and jumping out seeing Wade not far behind her.

She had never been skydiving before but it felt amazing, it was like she could fly, she could feel the wind rush in her ears as she smiled to herself looking down at the ground which grew closer and closer. She moved herself as she joined up with the rest of the team as they kept falling.

"Convoy, 12 o'clock! On my command!" Wade directed them as he stopped the large truck. "Deploy! Oh, hey now!"

Laura didn't listen to Wade, mainly because he acted like a child but also because she neglected to take a parachute. She knew she'd survive either way.

"Laura! Where's your chute? Deploy the chute." Wade yelled over comms.

Laura ignored him as she kept her sight locked onto the convoy as she steered herself into its direction.

"That child's going to get herself killed, first Wolverine now his daughter. Oh my god there'll be no one left!"

Laura could hear Wade complaint over the comms but didn't give him the satisfaction of reacting. She didn't anticipate how fast she was falling and crashed into the roof on the truck. She gasped as pain erupted up her right side and coughed out blood. She lay there for a second before slowly lifting herself up as she could feel that she was already healing.

She could hear Wade and Domino converse with each other and Wade letting her know that everyone else on the team had somehow died tragically, not that it was that unexpected given the harsh wind.

"I can see Laura." Domino told Wade as she saw the girl on the roof of the convoy.

Wade sighed in relief. "Oh thank god! She made it, yes! I knew it."

"No you didn't." Laura spoke as she groaned clicking a bone into place before climbing over one compartment to try and find an entrance in.

Wade scoffed. "I never doubted you for a second, my little spider monkey. Where'd you land?" He asked her getting on a moped he stole getting ready to see if he needed to pick her up on the way.

"I'm going inside."

"You're inside?! Laura wait no. I'm that kids only hope so sit tight and wait for my word." Wade tried to persuade her.

"You're breaking up there's a tunnel..." she made static noise. "...wh-at was—that?" She made deliberate pauses to try and sell it.

"Whatever we're gonna lose them I'm dropping in." Domino said to Wade as she readied herself.

"Uh, that's a negative, sole survivor." Wade denied.

"I'm still here!" Laura yelled feeling neglected.

"You don't count, you technically can't die." Wade told her. "And Luck is not a superpower! We are so fucked!" He screamed as he seemed to be getting more and more stressed out.

"No, we most certainly are not fucked." Was all Domino said before Wade went on a tangent about how Luck wasn't a superpower.

Laura zoned him out as she dropped down the side of one compartment and extended her claws as she used them to wedge open the door.

"I'm in." She heard Domino tell Wade cutting off his rant.

"I'm sorry what did you say?"

"I'm in." Domino repeated as she started driving the convoy.

"Me too" Laura also said as she walked through the truck trying to find the boy, the convoy was loaded with prisoners in their own compartments on each side of the truck.

"How in the fuck are you guys in already?" He asked in disbelief annoyed he wasn't in on the action.

"We don't fuck around Wade." Laura laughed knowing that he had rubbed off on her.

"Young lady, we do not use that repulsive language around here — MOTHERFUCKER!" He exclaimed as a car cut in front of him.

"Oh shit. Cable. 12 o'clock." Domino informed them as he appeared a few metres in front of the truck.

"Okay new plan! Use all of your imaginary powers to stop Cable from killing that kid. I'm coming up on your six. Laura find the kid!"

"Copy that." Laura replied as she kept wandering the truck looking into each cell to try and find the kid but all she saw so far were middle aged prisoners eyeing her up and down.

"Where is he I can't see him?" Domino asked.
"He's on top of you." Wade yelled. "He's going in through the back!"

Laura heard a loud bang from behind her as more light flooded the truck as Cable ripped the whole door off.

"Oh, God, he's inside!"
"You hear yourself, right?"
"Accidental double entendres!"

"I don't get it?" Laura asked the two not understanding the joke.

"Laura shut your beautiful little ears, and FIND THE KID."

Laura groaned as she started walking back towards where Cable had entered. "Okay, geez old man, I am 14 and calm down I'm getting to it."

She could hear Cable call out for the kid as he appeared to be getting closer to the compartment where Laura was. She quickly looked around trying to find the kid but it didn't look like he was in this one.

Laura stuck herself up against one of the cells as Domino started shooting at Cable. She looked up at the prisoner inside to find out that she had located the kid.

"Guys! I found Russell!" She cheered before quickly ducking down to the floor as Domino shot a gas can into Cable who held some kind of tech bomb. "Shit."

"Language! As Steve Rogers would say." Wade said cracking up as if it was the funniest thing on the planet, must be an inside joke only he understands.

"Who's Steve Rogers."

"Oh you know, multiverse. You know what? forget I said anything, but then again Derek and his kind are from a different universe sort of a crossover... so who knows maybe you do know Steve."

Laura held her hand over her face as the back compartment of the truck blew up, her relief that Cable was gone was only momentary as not even a second later she caught a glimpse of him jumping back onto the convoy. She huffed as she stood up glaring at nothing in particular she was more annoyed that this situation hasn't gone smoothly at all.

She looked back at the sound of her name being called out and quickly caught the gun being thrown to her from Domino. She gave a nod in thanks before holding it out and aiming for the man who was now stalking towards her.

He eyed the gun in her hand. "Okay kid stand aside, this isn't your fight."

Laura kept her ground staring dead in the mans eyes before removing off the safety.

"I don't want to hurt you" he warned her as he took out his own gun.

Laura smirked as she threw her gun to the side and extended her claws looking up at him before tilting her head. "You won't." She said with a glint in her eye as she surged forward.

hope you guys liked the chapter I'm giving Laura some more interaction with people so you can get to know her character a bit better I'm excited to see where this goes
