Harper Hayes sat there at the table, biting nervously on the inside of her cheek as she fingered the paper in her hands. She was scared, that's for sure. She watched as her mother elegantly danced across the kitchen, readying the food for when her father came home. Harper couldn't stop staring at the paper, at the giant 89 that was written on the paper. It was a good grade, her teacher even put a smiley face beside of the grade, but it wasn't an A. It was one point from it, but that didn't matter. She could hear it now, the yells and degrading words that would take place. The tears that would roll down her cheeks as her mother just sat there, tightly closing her eyes because she knew there was nothing she could do.

ย  ย ย  "Sweetheart, are you alright?" Her mother questioned, turning her head to glance towards the blonde with a concerned frown. Harper glanced towards her mother for a moment before looking away. The woman sighed, placing the food on three plates before quickly setting the table. "Darling, what's the matter?"

ย  ย ย  "Nothing." Harper whispered, folding the paper and sitting on it in hopes of it not being known that she had received a new grade that day. The quiet girl took a sip of her water, placing the glass down and almost wincing at the sound of the door opening. She closed her eyes, before opening them and watching as her father took off his coat and sitting his things down on the living room chair before making his way towards the kitchen. He smiled.

ย  ย ย  "There's my two favorite girls." He gave Lauren Hayes a kiss. "It smells amazing, babe." Harper had to refrain herself from rolling her eyes as her mother blushed, a smile on her face as she whispered a thanks to her husband. Ren Hayes looked down at his daughter who looked at him, offering him a small smile.

ย  ย ย  "Hey, daddy."

ย  ย ย  "Hey, babygirl." He gave her a kiss on the cheek before he sat down at the table. "How was school?"

ย  ย ย  "It was school." Harper shrugged her shoulders, picking up her fork and taking a bite of food.

ย  ย ย  "Nothing exciting happen?"

ย  ย ย  "Nope." Harper shook her head.

ย  ย ย  "What about that test?" Immediately Harper closed her eyes. The girl bit her lip before reluctantly pulling the paper from underneath her, unfolding it before hesitantly handing it to her father. He took the paper and just stared at it for a moment.

ย  ย ย  "It's not bad." Harper tried. "I tried really hard for this test, and I'm sure I'll do better on the next one."

ย  ย ย  Ren sighed. "I'm sure you will sweetheart, but, you know what happens when you don't do good on your tests."

ย  ย ย  "Dad, it was a B, I was literally one point away from an A!" Harper exclaimed.

ย  ย ย  "Watch your tone with me young lady!" He snapped, pointing his finger towards her. "Now you will go up to your room with no dinner, and clean the entirety of this house, got it?"

ย  ย ย  "No." Harper shook her head.

ย  ย ย  "Excuse me?"

ย  ย ย  "Harper." Lauren warned.

ย  ย ย  "You heard me." Harper narrowed her eyes. "I'm not going to starve over the simple fact that I made one point less than what you expected. Suck it up. I said I will make it up the next test." Before she knew it, he was slapping her across the cheek. Harper held a hand up to her cheek, tears in her eyes as she looked at him. "Did you just hit me? Don't you dare lay your fucking hands on me!"

ย  ย ย  "Watch your mouth!"

ย  ย ย  "You bastard, the only reason why mom stays with you is because she's too scared of you to kick you out!"

ย  ย ย  "Harper Michelle Hayes, you will not speak to your father like that."

ย  ย ย  "Really, mom? The full name?" She narrowed her eyes at her mother, standing up. "This is bullshit."

ย  ย ย  "Hey!" Ren grabbed onto her arm, throwing her back towards her seat. "We are not done yet!"

ย  ย ย  "We're done when I say we are! I hate this family! I hate you!"

ย  ย ย  Ren stood up and Lauren went to stop him but he backhanded her, sending the woman to the ground. Immediately she became enraged. "You bastard!" He grabbed onto her and she struggled in his grasp. "Let me go!"

ย  ย ย  "Not until you learn some manners young lady."

ย  ย ย  "I said, let me go!" Her hands shot out, and in a blink of an eye everything changed. Her father was thrown away from her and with it the table and everything on it. Her mother was thrown backwards her head slamming onto the corner of the kitchen counter, killing her on impact. The silverware stabbed into her father, killing him with a slice to the neck and a puncture to the chest. So many things happened to her at once, power ran through her veins, but that of a wolf did as well. She let out a cry, falling to the floor as she felt every bone in her body break. And before she knew it she was no longer human, and instead was a giant silver wolf that was darting away from her house.

She didn't know how long she had been running, and she didn't know how they had found her, but Hope Mikaelson and Alaric Saltzman stood there in front of the girl, and before she knew it she was being forced to change back. Her body was bare of any clothes as she looked up at the two, covering her chest as she looked at them with fear. Alaric carefully pulled off his jacket handing it to the girl who hesitantly took it from him, covering herself up with it.

ย  ย ย  "Can you tell me your name?" Alaric questioned.

ย  ย ย  "What's happening to me?" The girl asked instead.

ย  ย ย  "You're what's called a werewolf." Alaric told her.

ย  ย ย  "Do werewolves throw tables across the room without touching them and kill their parents in the process?" Harper questioned as tears streamed down her face. Alaric glanced towards Hope who nodded her head, quickly running away to cover up the mess before it had been seen by anyone.ย

ย  ย ย  "A hybrid." He hummed. "A werewolf witch hybrid."

ย  ย ย  "What do you want from me?" Harper whispered.

ย  ย ย  "I just want to help." He held a hand up to show he meant n o harm, Harper flinched at the action. "My name is Alaric Saltzman. That girl you saw was Hope Mikaelson, a student from my school. I can take it to you if you'd like, but first I'd like to know your name."

ย  ย ย  "Harper." The girl mumbled. "Harper Hayes."

ย  ย ย  "Well, Harper, you're going to be just fine, alright." He held out a hand towards her and the girl looked back and forth between his face and his hand as if she were trying to make sure it was safe before grabbing onto it and allowing him to help her up. She left with Hope and Alaric, pulling up at something called the Salvatore School.

ย  ย ย  "Where are we at?" She softly questioned.

ย  ย ย  "This is a safe place for all of those that are supernatural. For all people like you." Alaric answered. Harper stood up, Hope having grabbed the girl a set of clothes when she had swung by to rid of the evidence at the girl's house, looking at the school with slight fear. "Harper, welcome to the Salvatore School."
