sooyoung was born to a very loving family, with a sister who was very overprotective over him. he was always a very energetic kid who was always up to do anything. he was also a very social kid who tried his best to befriend everyone.

in middle school, he met hyunki and the two became best friends quite instantly. hyunki was also the person who helped sooyoung form his passion for music, which they bonded over quite a lot.

unfortunately, hyunki had to move away two years after they became friends. the two boys still kept in contact though and often talked about how they were going to debut together in the future someday, however that was mostly said as a joke.

sooyoung slowly developed his singing and rapping skills over the years. he even began covering kpop songs and posted some on youtube, but those were deleted after he received hate comments and lost confidence in his skills. at this time, he was also stressing out over what career he will pursue in the future and he didn't really take the talk of becoming an idol with hyunki serisouly.

that was until one day hyunki asked him whether he wants to audition. sooyoung was a bit hesitant at first, but eventually he caved in and auditioned for the same company as hyunki. he was surprised that he passed and still loves to mention how the younger him and hyunki would be so proud of them right now.
