hyunki was born to two loving parents. ever since he was young, his parents noticed he was very shy and timid. it even took his some time to warm up to some of his extended family members. his parents ended up signing him up to dancing classes in order to make hyunki open up a little. luckily, hyunki loved those classes and soon found a passion for dancing.

due to him being shy, he also didn't have many friends in school, in fact, he didn't have many until sooyoung approached him one day and the two became friends who bonded over music. sooyoung also helped hyunki open up a little which made his parents quite happy.

unfortunately, after two years of their friendship hyunki and his family had to move away due to his father getting a new job. their house was also beginning to be a bit too small for them after his twin siblings were born. this move impacted hyunki a little since he felt like he lost a friend but was glad sooyoung was willing to keep in contact.

hyunki continued his dance training even after the move. he found a small group of friends due to his passion for dancing which he was very happy about. those friends were also the ones who planted the idea of becoming an idol in his head since he heard them discussing how they were gonna audtiton to different companies.

after much contemplation, and discussions with his parents, he decided to audition to an entertainment company. he failed a couple at first but eventually passed the kq audition. he was also very happy when sooyoung ended up joining the same company.
