Chapter 1

A snippet from the gossip sheet of the coveted Lady Whistledown (A gossipmonger whose words are considered to be gospel.)

Dear Gentle readers,
It has come to my attention that a certain Rake with a capital R, has made his way into our esteemed ton. He is none other than the newly anointed Duke of Cambridge - Damien Alexander. Arguably his presence is the catalyst that has lit up the match for the much needed change in atmosphere, that this author was desperately seeking.

The Duke has arrived from America after the death of his father the former Duke and let's just say good riddance.
The arrival of the handsome, enigmatic and mysterious Duke will surely lead to a feeding frenzy amongst the mama's looking to make their daughter's the new Duchess of Cambridge.

I say ready, set, match and may the most devious and clever mama be the winner.

Your's truly,
Lady Whistledown

This gossip sheet which merely costed less than 1 pound per copy, provided more valuable and important information than the newspaper.

The paper was promptly delivered by the footman and read aloud in the chaotic Bridgerton house on the morning of the presentation of the young ladies to the Queen of England at the debutante ball, as was the tradition in Mayfair.

Main Leads:

Daphne Bridgerton

One of the most beautiful women in the ton. She was described as a Diamond of the first water. Her countenance was perfection and she was delicate, sheltered and sophisticated. She was termed 'flawless', by none other than the Queen of England at her first debut to Her Majesty, one year ago.

She even managed to secure a match with an Earl no less, but unfortunately he passed way due to an unforeseen illness, before they could tie the knot. Thus rendering Miss Bridgerton, unwed and available. The Queen was stern and did not give second chances, but because she had a partial affinity for Daphne, she gave her the rare opportunity to make another debut with the new debutante's, on the condition that she had to find and secure a suitable match this very season.

Therefore Daphne was on the hunt for the most eligible bachelor to redeem and prove herself to the ton.

Daphne's family consisted of her parent's Edmund & Violet Bridgerton, her 3 elder brother's - Anthony, Benedict and Colin, her 2 younger sister's - Eloise and Francesca, lastly the youngest 5 year old twins - Gregory & Hyacinth.

Damien Alexander

A rake through and through, he was promiscuous and lived his life with abandon, until one particular incident changed his life, forever.

He was tall, dark and handsome. He had a sinful smirk, deep set eyes and was a smooth talker. Damien was turned into a vampire at the age of 24 and stayed at that age, ever since. He can walk in sunlight, drink alcohol (thank god, his words not mine), eat if absolutely necessary, has powers of compulsion, enhanced abilities, and he drinks human blood. Damien has more or less got his vampiric tendencies under control.

Damien's family consisted off his deceased parent's - The Former Duke & Duchess of Cambridge. His father was an asshole, technically speaking. He banished his new wife and young 5 year old son who had a stutter to America, after he caught his wife cheating on him with the footman. Even-though he was a publicity known philanderer and womaniser, his wife had to remain solely committed to him. Double standards you see. As punishment for her crimes, the mother-son duo was banished and were made to live on a meager stipend.

After the duke died, his son was given the title of Dukedom, which let's just say Damien was not too excited about. He had made peace with his carefree life in America, away from the prying eyes of the Ton and anything related to his father. But duty calls and he returned to Mayfair to settle his father's affairs.

...........
Stay tuned to see how a Rake falls in love with a doe-eyed debutante, or how a Vampire falls in love with a human in the regency era.
