he's in the bad books

"I'M LANDO'S GIRLFRIEND."

Those three words had been ringing in Dakota's head for the past two hours.

Elizabeth Grattan, the devil in a dress, had somehow managed to sweep Lando off his feet.

She felt sick. Lando knew everything Bette had put Alfie through when they were kids, but yet, he began to date her?

Kota couldn't believe for one second that it happened naturally, and that Bette actually cared for Lando. She never cared for anyone but herself, and everything she ever did was for her own benifit. Never had Bette Grattan ever thought about anyone other than her big headed self.

Kota felt sorry for Alfie, more than anything however. Her (supposed) best friend was dating her horrible cousin, and had to find out infront of other people.

George was furious with Lando, but for Alfie's sake, didn't lash out on his friend infront of his girlfriend, knowing she wouldn't want to cause a scene.

Alex hadn't said a word since Bette and Lando had arrived. But when Kota went into the kitchen to get herself a glass of water, he followed her out. "Want a ride out of here?"

Kota sighed. "I can't leave Alfie here with her. Or Lando. I have a feeling if we leave she'll rip his head off." she raised her glass to her lips, "Not that that would be a bad thing." she muttered to herself.

Alex leant against the kitchen counter, "This wasn't how this was supposed to go... I mean, you two were supposed to be together. I had a bet on it. "

Kota rolled her eyes. "Yeah well that's obviously not what's happened." Kota snapped. She held her eyes shit for a moment, collecting herself before she burst into flames. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap."

"It's okay. I understand how you're feeling." Alex watched as Kota sipped her water. "K let me take you back okay? I don't want you sitting in a room with them all over eachother."

Kota shivered at the thought of Bette even being near Lando. She shook her head at her actions. "This is stupid. Why am I acting like this?"

"Because she's a bitch." Alex said. "Kota, we all know you still have feelings for him, but we all know if he was with anyone else you'd push them aside for his sake. But because you know what she's like your being protective over Lando. We all are. "

Kota looked at him with a tried expression."Since when did you become my therapist? " she said, chuckling lightly.

Alex gave her a weak smile. "Come on, let's go."

Kota looked down at her now empty glass and sighed. "Okay." she said giving in. Alex through an arm around her shoulder and they walked back into the living room. Bette and Lando were sat together on a sofa and Alfie and George were sat near, Alfie secretly glaring at Lando, and George running his fingers through her hair in an attempt to keep her calm.

Alex caught George's eye and gestured towards Kota with a nod of his head. George nodded understanding, and poked Alfie in the side. Alfie frowned at him, and he gestured towards Alex and Kota.

Kota was now staring at Bette, who had now began to push a few curls out of Lando's face, giggling in a fake voice.

Alex mouthed to Alfie, "We're going to go." Alfie looked from Bette to Kota and nodded. "Good idea." she mouthed back.

Alex nodded and coughed, gaining Bette and Lando's attention, addressing the room as if he hadn't spoken to Alfie or George, not to cause suspicion. "K and I are going to go."

Bette gave Kota a look of mock sadness. "Aw how come?" she asked, her voice high pitched and whiney.

Kota attempted to restrain herself from going off at her, but answered in a firm voice. "Because some of us Bette, have jobs we need to get to." she said, making a small jab at the fact Bette was unemployed, and let other people (her father and now apparently Lando) buy her things.

"Oh yes. You work for your brother don't you? Don't you take out his trash or something?" Bette asked, knowing she was pressing all of Kota's buttons.

"I do a lot more than that. But I assure you I'm well educated in taking out people's trash. Want a demonstration?"

Before Bette could retort, Alex grabbed Kota's hand, giving at a squeeze, warning her to stop talking. "Okay, we'll see you all later."

He placed a hand on Kota's shoulder, turning her towards the door and pushing her forwards gently.

Lando noticed Alex still had a hold of her hand as they left to hotel room, and tensed.

Bette seemed to notice this, and began to play with his curls again, distracting him from where Kota and Alex had dissapered.

Alfie took a deal breath. "I'm going to throw up." she muttered, before standing up, and leaving the room.
