33⋆Dusk

A/N: So... This is the last part. And it is long, just for you guys <3

____________________________

"What the fuck?" Mingi is the first one to speak, while Yunho and Hongjoong are still sitting in their seats, staring at Seonghwa with a shocked look painted all over their faces.

Seonghwa has stayed silent since the words left his lips. His taller friend remains silent as well after his short outburst, furrowing his eyebrows in distress over the sudden news. The lack of words coming from him is almost terrifying, as Mingi always has something to say.

Seonghwa had asked the guys to meet up for dinner, to tell them about his and Tzuyu's engagement. From their first reactions alone, Seonghwa chooses to keep the part about the pregnancy a secret, just a little longer.

Every sound coming from the people around them in the restaurant seems to fade away, as Seonghwa looks at his friends. Mingi keeps glaring at him while Yunho is opening and closing his mouth repeatedly, but still without saying anything at all.

The two taller guys never got to know about his relationship with Yeosang, but that doesn't make this announcement any less shocking. And Seonghwa is still aware how much they both dislike his now soon-to-be wife.

But the reaction Seonghwa has feared the most, is Hongjoong's, and he doesn't even dare to look his best friend in the eyes right now. Hongjoong's eyes are resting heavily on him, but he still can't face him, afraid that Hongjoong will see straight through the lies that Seonghwa so desperately tries to portray as genuine.

It has taken days for Seonghwa to get anywhere close to accepting what is going to happen with his life. When he finally had the guts to pick up the phone when his parents called yet again, he felt sick to his stomach, cringing at every word they said to him. The paternity test had come back, it was indeed his child. And so, the engagement was settled, and his parents already had their eyes set on the perfect apartment for him and Tzuyu to start their life together in.

Seonghwa had felt like he was watching a bad movie, which just so happened to have someone who looked just like him as the main character. But he didn't feel like it was actually him. It was too surreal, too horrible for him to grasp, and living through every second of it was almost too much for him to handle.

But as the days passed by, he slowly started to give in. There was no use in trying to fight it anyway. He had already lost Yeosang, and nothing in his life made sense anymore.

"Are you for real? Like, seriously?" Mingi then asks, the look in his eyes showing a wish for it all to be a lie – much as Seonghwa himself had been hoping for.

"Yes... It's for real. We are getting married," Seonghwa replies, his voice monotone, lifeless as he forces a smile over his lips.

"I don't... I don't get it... I don't understand..." it quietly comes from Yunho who is nervously looking back and forth between Seonghwa and Mingi, trying to give and receive some support in his disbelief.

"There's nothing much to understand, really. Tzuyu and I are getting married, and we are moving in together. I'm happy, and you should feel happy for me."

Seonghwa has told this lie to himself so many times by now, but he still can't manage to say it with even a fake smile on his lips, and every single word burns in his throat. He stares blankly into pure nothing as he speaks, and while he deep down appreciates his friends' concern for him, it's useless to him in the end.

They finish their dinner together with an uncomfortable vibe lingering around them the entire time. Everyone seems too nervous to speak up about anything at all, which is the first time it has ever happened in their friend group.

~

When Seonghwa has parted ways with the others, he walks down the street with heavy steps. Hands in his pockets and his posture so slouching that his mother would whack him on the head if she saw him.

The stars have come out on the dark sky above him, but looking at them just hurts even more and he wonders if he'll ever be able to look at the stars again without tearing up.

"I'm sorry..." he whispers under his breath as he stops walking and lets his eyes find their way to the night's sky. But the words have lost all meaning.

Suddenly he hears Hongjoong call out for him. As he turns around, he sees his friend come running towards him.

"Seonghwa, what is going on?" Hongjoong asks as he catches up with Seonghwa, his eyes filled with worry.

"What do you mean?" A careless shrug falls from Seonghwa's shoulders.

"What about... You and Yeosang?" Hongjoong's question is burning its way to Seonghwa's heart, but he has to shut the pain out. He can't let that certain name affect him anymore.

"Yeosang and I are over. It's time for me to grow up," he then states.

Hongjoong rubs his neck a couple of times, the thoughts seemingly rushing through his mind as he has that look on his face that Seonghwa knows all too well.

"But... I thought you guys were so happy..."

"Hongjoong," Seonghwa's voice is cold as ice and he looks at his friend the very same way. "It's over. I don't want to talk about him ever again."

An inaudible gasp leaves Hongjoong's lips and he takes a step back in surprise. Seonghwa never calls him by his actual name, and both of them instantly notice the change.

"Okay, I'm sorry... I-I'll see you..." Hongjoong mumbles before turning around.

As Seonghwa watches his best friend walk away, his heart turns even colder inside his chest.

~

Seonghwa stares at the emptiness of what used to be his dorm room. Moving day has come way faster than he had wanted it to. But at the same time he feels a little relieved. Not having to live at campus will mean that his chances of running into Yeosang has been minimized just a tiny bit.

When Seonghwa is walking out the dorm, carrying the last box to the moving van, he looks up and meets the eyes he can no longer deny he's been missing so endlessly much. Yeosang and Wooyoung are walking towards the dorm, and the pain on Yeosang's face is clear as day as they come closer.

"Was that the last one?" Tzuyu's voice breaks through Seonghwa's thoughts, and her hand is laid gently on his shoulder.

"Y-yes..." Seonghwa mumbles, not taking his eyes off Yeosang for even a second.

When Yeosang sees Tzuyu next to Seonghwa, he stops walking. His shoulders falling while the wind is blowing his hair around his face. He looks so sad but still so amazingly beautiful as he stands there.

Every little part of Seonghwa's body wants to run over, pull Yeosang into his arms and never let go of him. Nuzzle his face against the younger's neck and inhale that sweet scent of his. Kiss his lips again, and let him know how Seonghwa has never stopped loving him.

"Sangie, let's go," Wooyoung says, looking at Yeosang with worried eyes before turning to look at Seonghwa.

The look in the blonde's eyes changes within a second and if looks could kill, Seonghwa would be dead right in his spot. Wooyoung then tugs Yeosang's sleeve a couple of times, waiting for him to react.

But Yeosang doesn't move at all. His brown eyes are welling up with tears, but he fights to hold them locked in place. Looking into his eyes, Seonghwa sees nothing else around him. And he feels nothing.

Nothing but pain.

The brown hair is dancing in front of Yeosang's face when the wind once again catches it, and he looks nothing less than breathtaking. Seonghwa lets himself get lost in the brown eyes he used to know so well, wishing they could just go back to the way they were. Back to the very first time they met, and he would do anything in the world to make things right.

But he knows it's impossible.

"Yeosang. Now!" Wooyoung then cuts through in a hard tone before he grabs Yeosang around the arm and drags him away.

When they walk past Seonghwa, it feels like a punch in his stomach but he knows he deserves that. His eyes keep following them until they walk through the entrance and are out of sight.

"Okay, let's go then." Tzuyu tugs Seonghwa's sleeve and he unwillingly follows her, leaving his bleeding heart scattered on the sidewalk, right next to Yeosang's.

~

Walking down the hallways of the university is killing Seonghwa inside, more and more for each time. Although he only has a few lectures he actually has to show up for this semester, it is definitely more than enough. Every time he steps through the entrance, his heart is pounding in his chest, scared of who he might run into.

Wooyoung and the rest of Yeosang's friends have all been ignoring Seonghwa ever since the announcement about his and Tzuyu's engagement had spread across campus. And his own friendships have started to crumble as well. This makes it even more surprising when he one day hears Wooyoung call his name in the hallway.

"Seonghwa."

Seonghwa turns around to see Wooyoung glaring back at him, with a clear look of spite in his eyes. It's been so long since Seonghwa has seen the cheerful side of Wooyoung that he has almost forgotten how the blonde used to be. As Wooyoung walks towards him, Seonghwa isn't sure if he should feel afraid or not.

"You probably don't give a shit, but Yeosang is leaving Korea. He got a scholarship to study abroad," Wooyoung says as they are standing in front of each other.

"W-what?" Seonghwa's voice only manages to come out as a struggling whisper, when the news start storming through his mind.

"I know he's too proud to ever come and tell you himself. But if you ever, at some point, even cared about him, just a little. Go say goodbye to him. He deserves to get some kind of closure."

Wooyoung tilts his head back, waiting for Seonghwa to answer. The blonde hair is falling over his eyes, but he quickly flips it away to keep up the dark glare he is sending Seonghwa's way.

"You're right. Thanks Wooyoung..." Although Seonghwa has tried his best to avoid Yeosang, hearing these words truly hurts like hell. He knew he had already lost him, but now it feels even worse than before. And he had no idea that that would even be possible.

"Don't thank me. I'm not doing this as a favor to you. You..." Wooyoung looks away for a short second, clearing his throat as his voice had started to tremble. "You broke my best friend's heart. You lifted him up only to tear him apart. I am not your friend, Park Seonghwa, remember that. Don't ever talk to me again."

With these words, Wooyoung walks by Seonghwa, intentionally bumping their shoulders together as he passes by, and the contagious laughter that used to roll over the blonde's lips has been replaced with cuss words, slipping out under his breath.

As soon as Wooyoung is out of sight, Seonghwa takes his phone from his pocket and with shaking hands he unlocks it to send Yeosang a message. But his heart stops when he opens their previous conversation, which he hasn't had the heart to delete yet.

The sweet, teasing, funny and lovable messages that they have sent to each other are showing before his eyes, and he struggles not to break down right in the middle of the hallway. With a quick shake of his head, he gathers himself the best he can and quickly types a message before putting the phone away again.

Seonghwa:
Hey.
And in case you deleted my number, which I'd completely understand.
This is Seonghwa.
I heard that you are moving soon, and I want to ask if we can meet.
I'll wait at Hyochang Park exit 1, this Saturday at 7PM.

~

Seonghwa keeps staring at his phone, both to keep an eye on the time and also praying that a message from Yeosang will pop up any second. He hasn't heard from the younger at all since he sent him the text asking for them to meet, but despite that Seonghwa still came to the spot he asked Yeosang to meet him at.

"Hey."

The voice he hasn't heard for weeks hits him like a knife in his heart. The pain of remembering how the same voice used to greet him so happily, whispering his name softly in his ear and telling him the three most beautiful words in the entire world, is spreading from his wounded heart.

"Hey..." Seonghwa turns around, already on the brim of crying when his eyes meet Yeosang's.

The silence between them is heavy like never before and Seonghwa nervously shuffles his feet around, while feeling like he's about to throw up by pure anxiousness.

"Here, I-I... Wrote you this," Seonghwa mumbles, finding an envelope from his pocket. "You... You don't have to read this now, or... Ever... If you don't want to..."

"Okay." Yeosang hesitantly takes the envelope and stuffs it into his own pocket.

As he stands there, Seonghwa tries to trace every single, gorgeous part of him, and save it in his memory. No matter what happens, he will never forget how he had someone so beautiful, and he will regret losing him every single day for the rest of his life.

He had wished to be able to take away all of Yeosang's pain, but he ended up only causing him even more harm. Yeosang might forgive him one day, or forget him at least, but Seonghwa knows that he, himself, will always remember – and that he will always hate himself for it.

Both of them take a few hesitant steps back and forth, before they eventually start walking side by side towards the park. Seonghwa doesn't know what to say, but at the same time he finds it just as perfect with them just being there together one last time, even without speaking.

After a while the two of them sit down on a bench. None of them have spoken a word in what feels like forever. The sun has started to set and the only sounds are from the wind blowing through the trees and people talking from afar.

"I'll miss this," Yeosang then mumbles, quietly.

Seonghwa nods in silence as he feels tears forming in the corner of his eyes, threatening to break free at any second.

"Being with you... Just as we are..." Yeosang continues, with a shaking voice, "... Just as... We were."

Seonghwa blinks slowly, the first tear escaping from his eyes as he parts his dry lips to speak. But only a weak, painful whisper manages to flow into the cold air around them:

"... Just as we were"

THE END

________________________________

A/N: Alright, you guys! We have reached the end of this story, and I feel so down right now. I LOVED writing this so it makes me so sad that it is over.

Before you go, pls read this:

- I know the ending isn't what many had hoped for. But I wrote the ending part as the VERY first thing and I wanted to hold onto that, although it actually physically hurt me to write the actual chapter. I've never felt as nervous publishing a chapter here, as I did with these last two.

- Some things have been left unclear on purpose, and they will be revealed in the sequel, so fear not!

- And about that sequel. It will be from Yeosang's POV, so it will be angsty, dramatic and very smutty. If you don't like that, please don't read it. ^^;;

- Thanks again times infinity to every single one of you who have read, voted, commented and supported me throughout this journey of my very first published (and finished) story here on Wattpad! I love and cherish every single one of you, and I feel so happy and honored that you've spent time of your life reading this story!! I'll forever be overwhelmed by your amazing support, and I still can't believe people actually wants to read what I write. It means the world to me, and I can't stress that enough!

So thank you, from the bottom of my heart <3
