Sixty-Five Million years ago, Dinosaurs roamed the very Earth humans live on. With many different theories, the one common constant assumption of a meteor crashing into Earth wiping out the Dinosaurs. In 1993, Billionaire John Hammond invited Dr Alan Grant and Dr Ellie Sattler to his Island, Isla Nublar where he had brought Dinosaurs back to life with skilled scientists and Dino DNA found in mosquitoes that had been trapped in tree sap which formed into amber over time. However, the dreams of Jurassic Park opening was quickly crushed due to a single persons greed and the escape of the parks attractions. Alan and Ellie refused to endorse the park and John had claimed the incident a setback.
Four years later, 1997, John Hammond sent a small team to the second island known as Isla Sorna. A member of that team, Ian Malcolm had also been on the first island during its downfall. InGen was no longer under the order and control of John Hammond leaving money hungry men in charge which lead to the capture of a T-Rex and its infant. Thankfully, Ian and his girlfriend, Sarah worked together to reunite the two Dinosaurs back on the boat to be sent back to Isla Sorna. John Hammond then spoke out to the world about the importance of letting the ecosystem grow and evolve on its own without human interference.
In 2001, just another four years later, Dr Alan Grant was dragged into a search and rescue by Paul and Amanda Kirby under false claims on Isla Sorna. Thankfully, Alan had been successful in finding Eric Kirby ─ moreso, the young boy found him ─ and reunited the family. With Ellie's distant help, the remaining survivors were rescued from the Island that contained a beast far more deadly than a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Alan's return from Isla Sorna resulted in a reunion between himself, Ellie and Ian Malcolm who was accompanied by one of his many children; Brooklyn Malcolm. Brooke was only four and half years old when she met Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler but she was clear on her love for Dinosaurs.

Brooklyn Malcolm was born August 10th in 1997 to Ian Malcolm and his drunken one night stand, Sofia Diaz. Brooke ─ like the rest of Ian's children ─ spent some time with her father and the rest with her mother. Sofia Diaz had met Ian due to his book and experience on Isla Nublar; due to the woman's own interest in Dinosaurs and predatory creatures in an ecosystem. Though it had been a one night stand, the two were pretty successful with co-parenting and Brooke was a good, easygoing kid to raise. And she adored Sarah whenever she was around so Ian's relationship with the woman wasn't a bad one.
When Brooklyn turned fourteen years old, she was offered a job on Isla Nublar where Simon Masrani had built a brand new theme park in honour of John Hammond who had passed on and left Mr Masrani in charge of everything ─ sparing no expense. You may wonder why they offered a fourteen year old a job with Dinosaurs when she should be in school but it was obvious in her higher intelligence and passion for Dinosaurs; along with being the daughter of infamous Ian Malcolm and Sofia Diaz. Sofia was also offered a job in Jurassic World's science division, an offer she also accepted without hesitation. The mother-daughter duo moved to the island ignoring Ian's protests and concerns.
And now, the Island was home for Brooklyn Malcolm who worked with the Dinosaurs in the park; mostly the Carnivores. She spent some time working alongside trainers, Owen Grady and Barry Sembène in the Raptor paddock. Owen had been quick to step up as a guardian of sorts to Brooklyn when she was first learning the ropes and she tended to gravitate towards him in most social encounters knowing he'd be there to save her from anything awkward or potentially triggering to her anger. Brooklyn also worked with the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Allosaur sisters and finally, the parks Mosasaurus. She was known to others as the Dino whisperer or Dino Girl for both her love of them and her very special gift.
Prior to the job offer, Brooklyn had accompanied her mother to the Island when they were still just barely working through the Dino DNA. At the time, Brooklyn had been only six years old and due to her love of Dinosaurs, she was a curious little girl when it came to the laboratory. Despite knowing that she wasn't allowed to touch anything, Brooklyn had picked up a small tube of blue liquid that caught her attention; in her other hand was a styrofoam cup filled with water that had been given to her by Dr. Henry Wu. Brooklyn had been startled by oncoming footsteps which resulted in her dropping the tube and spilling its contents; deciding not to face anyone's wrath, she simply ran off with her cup in hand ─ completely unaware of her water turning a pale blue from the spilled liquid.
The shock of her gift didn't happen till long after that day she spilled Dino DNA and whatever other chemicals were mixed in the liquid. She had fallen ill after finishing that cup and no one had any answers about her chronic headaches nor the occasional seizures she had. After some time, the headaches and seizures stopped but there was still a constant pressure in the back of her mind that seemed to leave her alert; never painful but ever present. On her second ever trip to the Island when she was only twelve years old, Brooklyn had been watching the young Raptors when one of them had snuck out of their former pen. Brooklyn had been the one to notice due to a sudden voice echoing through her mind, one accompanied with an alarming growl.
Owen Grady was the first she told as he was the one to witness her staring face to face with Echo encouraging her telepathically to return to her sisters before anyone got hurt. From that day on, the trainers were informed of the girls ability along with Mr Masrani and Sofia Diaz which eventually lead to the job offer of working on the very park. There were some days where Brooklyn struggled to communicate with the Dinosaurs as they had to be willing to listen while other days, she would have long conversations with the Dinosaurs purely out of fun and companionship. As the years went by, Brooklyn climbed the ranks and became one of the top trainers in the park earning more money than she could imagine while living the dream.

"Up and at 'em, Brooke!" Owen Grady's familiar gruff voice pulled the eighteen year old from her sleep. She stretched her body and yawned before rolling off of her stomach to look towards the doorway where her flatmate, Owen stood already dressed for the day. "What time did you get back last night?" Brooklyn asked him bringing a smirk to his face. "Pretty late," Owen answered her before moving towards the kitchen, "Anyway, we got Raptors to see. So hurry, would you?" Brooklyn fondly rolled her eyes. Once she had turned eighteen, Brooklyn had decided to move into Owen's spare room as her mother had left the job and moved back to the mainland with her new husband working for some other company with less risk.
After a quick shower, Brooke changed into some grey high waisted pleat front shorts along with her usual Jurassic World black tank top and a red button-up that she left undone. With her hair tied back to keep it out of her face ─ something you don't want in the humidity of Costa Rica ─ she slipped on her hiking boots and grabbed her necessary items such as her phone, multi-tool and of course, her employee badge. "Ready to go?" Owen asked as he tossed her an orange, she nodded and began peeling it before walking out of the house. Owen drove them to the Raptor paddock where their friend, Barry was awaiting their slow arrival. "Take your time," Barry sarcastically offered. "Thanks, Barry. Appreciate it," Brooklyn replied with her usual smirk, finishing her orange.

Meanwhile in Madison, Wisconsin, a family was preparing to send their two boys off to experience the beauty that is Jurassic World. Karen Mitchell stands in the driveway of a two-storey suburban home loading luggage into the back of a Nissan Minivan. She turns and yells out, "Boys, let's do this!" Karen sighs before heading back into the Mitchell home. In his room, Gray Mitchell ─ 14 ─ is looking at slides of Dinosaurs on his view master toy, the image currently showing an Allosaurus fighting a Triceratops followed by two Ray Harryhausen-animated Ceratosaurs fighting in a scene from The Animal World. His room is filled with Dinosaur and monster movie figures and posters along with two books sitting on his desk; one was Ian Malcolm's and the other, Brooklyn Malcolm's.
A knock on the door catches his attention followed by his mother's voice, "Gray?" Karen walked into the room and sighed, "Honey, what're you doin'? What is this here?" She takes the View Master from him, "Let's go. Come on, honey, your flights in two hours." Karen began double checking his things. "Dane County Airport is thirty-six minutes away, sixty with traffic," Gray informed his mother, the boy was a mathematical genius, no doubt about that. "How many minutes to get your little butt in the van?" Karen asked her youngest with a teasing smile on her face receiving a smile back from Gray. "Feed the monster under your bed?" Karen asked as she grabbed his bag. "Yes," Gray answered as they walked out of the room.
Across from Gray's room was another door with a sign saying 'stay out' along with a mix of band stickers surrounding it. "Come on, we gotta go!" Karen called as she knocked against the door before leading Gray down the stairs. Inside the room was Zach Mitchell ─ 18 ─ who was finishing up his backpack, he sighed in annoyance with his mother's rushing before zipping up his bag and grabbing his headphones. He looked at his phone screen to see messages from friends along with one from his ex hoping they could talk things through and maybe get back together; even if it's already been a month since they split up. "Zach, let's go!" Scott Mitchell, his father, called out from downstairs. Zach's headphones were immediately slipped on the moment he was in the car.

Christmas music played in the Dane County Airport as Karen and Scott Mitchell were saying farewell to their sons at the gate to get on their plane. "Everything right on there?" Karen asked Gray who nodded prompting her to add, "I'm so jealous. You're gonna have so much fun." Karen's smile and pleasant demeanour seemed a little forced. "I love you," Karen told her son. "I love you too," Gray replied to her before they share a tight embrace, Gray was able to pick up on the tense nature of the hug along with the uncomfortable look on his father's face; something was wrong, he was sure. "All right, uh, let's give these to your brother, okay?" Karen told Gray in reference to the tickets.
Karen turned to hand Zach the tickets however, he isn't paying attention with his hood covering his head and his headphones blasting music into his ears. "Can you hold these, please?" Karen asked but Zach couldn't hear her. "Zach!" Scott called out attempting to get his eldest sons attention, he looked towards them. "Can you hold these? Honey, I need you to take care of these," Karen told Zach who noticed and accepted them indifferently. "Hey," Scott called getting Zach's attention, "Listen to your mother." Zach sighed as Karen spoke to him, "Take care of your brother, answer your phone. I'm serious. It's the green button. When you see my name, push it, okay?" Zach nods absently. "And remember, if something chases you..." Karen paused for dramatic effect, "...run."
Gray smiled at her teasing words unaware of how good that advise would become for the two teenagers. "Come on, let's go," Zach tells Gray. "Bye, guys!" Karen called out to her two sons. "Bye," Zach half-heartedly replies. "I miss you already!" Karen added as the boys walked into the gate. "Yep," Zach muttered before he and Gray disappeared through the gate to their plane. With the boys gone, the two adults drop their act, their attitudes turned cold towards one another. "So much for our last family breakfast..." Scott remarked. "Why do you have to say things like that?" Karen snapped annoyed. "Did you call your sister?" Scott asked feeling slightly irritated. "Straight to voicemail," Karen replied concerned. "They'll be fine. She handles twenty thousand people a day. She can handle two more," Scott told her with certainty.
