Chapter Thirty Seven

EVERYONE was busy getting their costumes ready for homecoming dance, the members were busy getting ready for the concert after the dance. Chan ordered his four members to wear a vampire themed black outfit, which made Felix pick a see-through t-shirt, along with a black blazer and a pair of tight, leather pants with sparkling, black shoes.

Mal wore a wide, satin black blouse that matched with Chan's, with a similar black leather pants and black, wedged ankle boots, and Hyunjin wore a wide, off-white blouse to match with the same tight leather pants. Han wore a wide, black blouse that matched with his thick, black necklace.

And since they all agreed that their makeup was going to be vampire-themed, Mal applied black eyeshadow and pale white foundation to the members' faces, which matched perfectly with the clothing.

As soon as they were done, Mal glanced at the clock, only to see that it was around six thirty in the evening. They realized that they were running late for the dance.

They all hopped in the car soon enough after they were done with the costumes, and arrived at the school around seven. Since the concert was around nine, they knew that they couldn't stay for long as they still had a lot to do to prepare for the performance.

The members walked towards the school building, where the dance was being held. After a lot of convincing, Chan finally agreed to attend the dance with them, as it was for everyone. So as they passed by the flour stars that the students applied to the grass to make it look brighter, they eyed the pathway that was lit in dim, purple and white lights until the reached by the gate, where the principal was waiting to greet them.

"Hi, principal Hughs! This is my friend, Christopher. We wanted him to attend the dance with us, I hope that's okay." Mal spoke in a sweet, welcoming tone, making the woman before her to smile almost immediately.

"Of course, honey! You know I can never say no to you, and I trust your choice in people to be honest. The decorations are looking great." the woman turned to the members behind Mal, and grinned in their direction. "I hope you all enjoy your time. By the way, I bought a ticket for your concert, and I'm ready to be wowed."

They all thanked her for her welcoming tone and entered the building, and were met by the purple-and-white theme that the girls had agreed on, the balloons that formed an entrance, and the gymnasium that was sparkling with the dim lights. The small stage that the students organized was standing across from the white-clothed tables, with a lot of flowers decorating its edges.

"Wow, this looks great." Chan began as he eyed the decoration around the bleachers.

"Imagine how this would be if we let Griffin and the rest of the boys take charge of the decorations."

That made the members chuckle.

"I don't even want to imagine, but I'm glad it turned out like this. This is perfect."

They made their way towards the voting box, where a small piece of paper was hanging on the wall before it. The list of names that was assigned for homecoming king and queen.

For homecoming queen :

Sabrina Carpenter
Mal Mohamed
Ava Michelle
Olivia Rodrigo

For homecoming king :

Joshua Bassett
Felix Lee
Hyunjin Hwang
Griffin Gluck

"Wait, your last name is Mohamed?" Han asked his friend, who smiled and nodded.
"Yeah. Most people don't know it because I just go by my first name most of the time."

"Well, I think we all know who I want my queen to be." Felix began as he checked the checkbox next to Mal's name, making her eyes sparkle.

"Thanks, sunshine."

She took one of the papers and stopped at the names for a few seconds, gulping in discomfort.

"What, who am I supposed to vote for?"

Hyunjin giggled at her expression.

"Vote for Felix."

Felix turned to his friend, taken aback by his words.

"No! They're definitely going to throw tomatoes at me, if that's even still a thing. Vote for Hyunjin, y'all."

They all giggled and hesitantly obeyed.

"Do I get a vote in this?" Chan asked, reaching for one of the papers.

"Of course! Vote for whoever you want."

He stopped at the names of homecoming king nominees, and bit his lip.
"Who the hell should I vote for? This is so hard!"

"Please, please, please don't vote for me! I'm going to get eaten alive, and I'm not even kidding."

Chan rolled his eyes playfully. "Well, we all know who I'm going to vote for if I could pick two."

Felix nodded in an understanding tone, while Hyunjin glanced at the leader in gratitude.

"Thanks, Chan."

After they turned away from the voting box, a familiar girl approached them with a wide grin over her face.

"Hey, guys! Oh my God, y'all look amazing." Ava complimented as she gave Mal a quick, enthusiastic hug. She was wearing a pale blue dress with blue stilettos to match, along with a small, heart-shaped silver necklace.

"Thanks, Ava!"

She eyed all of the members with awestruck eyes.

"Oh, who is this?"

"That's Chan. He's the leader of our group." Mal explained patiently, then introduced the pair to each other.

"You guys look amazing. Are you doing a vampire theme or something? The makeup looks so professional."

Felix sent a small, proud smile to his girlfriend's direction.

"That was all Mal."

Mal smiled and hugged his waist.

"Do you think I can have a dance with all of you before you leave for the concert? That would look so great in homecoming photoshoots!"

That hit Mal like a locomotive for a moment, and it made her slap her forehead in dismay as she remembered what she forgot to order the rest of the students to do.

"We forgot to make a photoshoot stand!"
