Chapter Five

"Felix?" Mal called out, walking through the empty hallway towards the boys' bathroom. She opened the door as she stepped by the entrance, and peeked inside.

She found Felix standing by one of the sinks, staring into nothing. A stray tear found its way down his handsome face.

"Felix?" she repeated, making him jump up and wipe his tear quickly.

"Mal, I'm so sorry I embarrassed you like that..."

She raised her eyebrow in confusion.

"Embarrassed me? Are you joking?" she stepped closer towards him, "Look, I'm so sorry about Griffin. He's just..."

She realized that it was stupid of her to excuse Griffin's actions like that, and yet words formed at the tip of her tongue.

"Mean sometimes." she continued.

Felix nodded. "No, I know, I just... I don't like people asking me about my parents because-"

"I know, Felix... I know exactly why. I'm so sorry for what happened. I promise I'll talk to him, but please," she paused to catch her breath, "I just want to make sure you're okay. Okay?"

She stepped closer and held his hands between hers, squeezing them gently.

"I'm okay. Please, don't worry about me..."

Mal frowned at that. She wrapped her arms around him in a tight, reassuring hug.

"I will always worry about you. Listen, I know it's a little too early for this, but... I think I'm in love with you."

He looked taken aback by the sentence, making her feel embarrassed immediately.

"You d-don't have to say anything, just-"

"No. I'm in love with you too, Mal."

That made her smile sincerely. Felix returned the smile, then glanced at her lips for a mere second. "May I kiss you?"

She nodded, then planted her lips upon his in a long, passionate kiss

A few minutes passed before they broke away, looking into each other's eyes. Mal touched her lower lip, slightly confused.

"Felix, I have something to tell you."

Later that day, the fancy, black limo pulled up in front of the mansion Mal's family owned. It was a very gigantic, three-story European-style mansion with a white and grey exterior, a big driveway, and a nicely-decorated gate.

"Wow. Now I feel like my one hundred and fifty meters apartment is the smallest thing in the world."

Mal looked down, slightly embarrassed. "That doesn't change anything, does it?"

"Of course, it doesn't, Mal. I was just kidding..."

She giggled, holding his hand.

"Well. Let me give you a tour." she turned to him and stretched out her hand dramatically, "Shall we?"

He sent her a wide smile as he took her hand, "We shall."

Mal let out the house keys, and they both entered the house as soon as they reached the gate, still hand in hand.

"Come on, I want to show you my room!" she exclaimed enthusiastically, pulling him up the spiral stairs.

"Woah, your house is great!"

Felix's eyes continued to wander around the house. It was as gigantic on the inside as it was on the outside, as the house was divided into three stories. On the first floor were the living room, the dining room, the game room, a closet room, a snack closet and a small hallway that led to the basement. The second floor had the kitchen, a breakfast room, a period closet, the grand hall, a library, a music room, another closet room and two guest bedrooms. The third floor had the rest of the bedrooms, a walk-in closet, a small hallway that led to the attic, and an art room. The house also had a 5-car garage and a pool.

"Thanks, sunshine. Thanks for not making such a big deal out of it."

He smiled at that.

"Of course..."

She pulled him by his arm again, finally leading him to her room. She opened the door with the key she had in her hand, then allowed him inside. Felix stood by the entrance for a moment, trying to take in the decorations of his girlfriend's room. It was mostly decorated with white and soft lavender. The king-sized bed sat elegantly in the middle of the room, with plasma television and a white-and-lavender couch not too far away. It had elegant designs, much like he expected it to be. He knew her style, or at least he liked to think he did.

His eyes rested at the further corner of the room, in which a purple, black and white flag hung by the wall. Felix thought that the flag didn't look familiar, as he has never seen it before. He turned to her, a questioning look planted over his handsome face.

"Baby, what country is that?"

She let out an uncomfortable giggle and turned to look at the flag, then back at him.

"I-It's not a country, Felix. This is what I wanted to tell you."
