I watched him holding her and it brought tears to my eyes. Jake held our newborn baby girl in his muscular arms as he sat in the chair across from my hospital bed. We were lucky, I suppose, that we had gotten isolated in the hospital when this thing broke out. Otherwise, it would have been Jake delivering the baby by himself. Although he did help the nurses. Honestly, I couldn't be happier. She was healthy and that was the only thing that mattered.

"How's my baby girl?" Jake cooed, his voice soft and melodic as he bounced her gently in his arms.

I smiled over at the both of them.

"You're so beautiful, my little angel." he continued, love shining in his sapphire-blue eyes.

"You're already a great dad, Jake," I spoke up, making him turn his head to look at me.

He grinned as he got up from the chair and walked over to the large window overlooking the city.

"And you're already an amazing mom." he smiled at me before turning back to look out the window.

I bit my lip as I watched him pointing out different buildings to the small pink bundle nestled against his chest.

"What are we going to name her?" he asked me suddenly.

"How about Josette?" I said, my green eyes meeting his.

He nodded and smiled at me.

"I think that's perfect. Josette Riley, future police officer like her father." he grinned.

I shook my head and laughed at him, "No, she's going into fashion like her mother."

Jake scrunched up his face and shook his head no.

"No, no, she's going to love law enforcement. I mean, she is my daughter-"

"-our daughter," I corrected him.

He smiled at me and walked over to my bed, sitting down beside me.

"That's what I meant...." he said, going silent for a moment, "I hope that this is over by the time she's older. I don't want her to have to live like this. Always afraid of getting sick..."

I smiled up at him sadly and patted the sheets beside me. Carefully, he leaned back, still holding the baby. He handed her to me gently and I held her in my arms. Jake wrapped an arm around me.

"I love you two so much," Jake breathed out, looking at me intently.

Leaning over to him, I placed a soft kiss on his pink lips. A small gurgle broke us apart and we laughed as we looked down at Josette. She had Jake's beautiful blue eyes and my tan skin.

"She'll be okay, Jake...we all will..." I said, answering his question from earlier as I layed my head on his chest.
