jake sighed as he sat back on the waiting area at the airport. his grandfather, who is sitting beside him- is busy talking with someone on the phone. his hands are fidgeting, holding on to his backpack.

his friends were here earlier, and they left just five minutes ago. their eyes were puffy from crying- especially geonu, who seems to find it hard letting his best friend go. he was even glaring at his grandfather earlier, and jake was actually thankful that the old man didn't notice it.

that idiot, i hope he'll be happy with heeseung. he smiled and shook his head. he looked at his phone, silently expecting for his text.

i know i'm stupid, but a part of me can't help but expect that he'll show up here and just drag me out of this mess.

but i know that won't happen. i already pushed him away too many times.

"jaeyun, you can tell me if you want to change your mind." his thoughts got interrupted when he heard his grandfather beside him.

he did not reply.

"it was supposed to be jaehyuk who should be in your place right now. you have the right to say no to your brother."

jake clenched his fist. "but i can't do that, he'll suffer." he glanced at his grandfather and he saw him smiling.

"he won't, i'm not that harsh."

"but you don't like him right? and you'll probably push him to study law again."

the old man nodded. "that's true, but you should know that it was him who wanted to take law in the first place. no one forced your brother."

he looked down at his feet. jaehyuk....

"it's not like i don't like him, but he's been too comfortable at causing troubles. jia and hyunsoo have been tolerating his behavior, and i don't want him to stay that way."

his grandfather sighed. "since you two were kids, you've always been the one who takes all the responsibilities for your brother. it's a good trait jaeyun, but jaehyuk should learn how to stand on his own."

he smiled weakly. i know.

he knows that his brother is passing him the pressure. he knows that his brother doesn't want responsibilities.

this is the choice i made. "it's okay grandpa, this is the last favor that i'll do for him."

his grandfather held his hand.

"you've grown into a very kind-hearted person, grandson. i'm proud of you."

jake pouted. "see, this is why jaehyuk hates you. why don't you tell him that too?"

the old man chuckled. "because he's a spoiled brat. i'm just teaching him a lesson, but that doesn't mean i don't love him."

"still, i think jaehyuk wants to hear those things from you too..."

"oh he will, but not right now."

they stopped talking when they heard an announcement, reminding them to board the plane in ten minutes.

jake let out a sigh and stood up, grabbing his luggage.

i guess this is it. there's no turning back now.

5:10 pm.

sunghoon stared at the clock that is hanging on the wall of his room. he should be on the plane right now.

he pulled his hair, distracting himself from feeling so empty again. fuck, i should've chased him to the airport and begged him to stay.

he would've done that, but he knows that jake won't choose to stay with him anyway. the guy has decided, and sunghoon knows how jake is true to his words. i know that he can't break what he said, he's that hard-headed.

sunghoon fixed his hair when he heard a soft knock on the door followed by his mother's voice.

"sunghoon? someone's looking for you." his mom uttered softly. he quickly stood up and went outside of his room.

he stopped walking when he saw sunoo through the window, waving at him. the guy was standing on their front yard. what is he doing here?

"that's sunoo right? i told him to get inside but he said he won't stay long," his mother explained behind him.

sunghoon nodded and stepped outside, walking towards sunoo.

"hey," sunoo gave him a comforting smile.

he smiled back and ruffled his hair. "hi, do you need something?"

the guy nodded. "well, i was told to give you this." he took out an envelope inside his backpack and handed it to him.

"what's this?" he asked, feeling confused.

"it's from jake."

from jake?

his hands were trembling as he opened the envelope. he took out the letter, and let out a shaky breath before opening it.

reading that letter, broke and fixed his heart all at the same time.
