"can't believe i still failed this test," geonu grunted as he stared at his own paper full of red marks.

jake shook his head. "i told you to study hard, didn't i?" his best friend just sighed and hit his head on the desk.

the two are in the library, since jake was asked to check their test papers. geonu tagged along because he wanted to see if he got a high score, but he just got disappointed.

"look, i even perfected the enumeration part!" jake glared at him when he tried to shove his paper in his face.

"i know, i literally just checked that with my own hands."

"well, can you re-check it? maybe you missed some points."

jake didn't reply and continued checking the other papers.

"please, bestie?" geonu pouted, while he cringed in disgust.

"okay, i'll check it again later. now stop doing that."

geonu finally grinned and focused on his phone. after a while, he suddenly squealed, making the librarian stare- or glare rather, at them.

"geonu what the hell?" jake mumbled, but geonu was busy looking at the entrance of the library.

it was heeseung, walking towards the librarian. his smile faded when he saw sunghoon behind the guy.

jake almost froze when sunghoon looked at his direction and waved. can i just pretend that i didn't see him?

"jake, sunghoon's waving at you. you two are close huh," geonu whispered and smirked.

crap. geonu doesn't know anything yet.

"what? haha, no we're not-" too late. the two are already walking towards their table.

heeseung smiled at him. "hey, you look busy." he sat in front of him while sunghoon sat on the other side.

he nodded. "kinda? i'm just checking the test papers." he felt sunghoon's stares but he just ignored it.

just ignore it, jake.

"isn't that the intern's job?" sunghoon replied back.

geonu faked a cough and scratched his neck. "jake's like that, hoon. very helpful. he can take any kind of task, even-" he stopped and stifled a laugh. "nevermind. but yeah, he just likes helping people."

jake looked at geonu with confusion. what does that even mean?

"yeah, i know that."

silence enveloped after sunghoon's statement. it's too quiet, i'm gonna suffocate at this point.

jake cleared his throat. "geon, give me your paper. let's re-check it now."

geonu looked at him. "like, right now?"

"yes? let me check it again."

"no, it's okay. you don't have to-"

"why, what's his score?" heeseung suddenly interfered. geonu eyed him, silently telling jake not to spill his score.

"that's none of your business." geonu answered him.

"i never said it was. i was just asking."

"i never said you can ask."

"and i never said i'll follow your rules."

"and i never said-"

"quiet, table 14!" both of them stopped talking when the librarian got angry.

geonu rolled his eyes and glared at heeseung. meanwhile, both sunghoon and jake are just enjoying their little fight.

geonu rolled his eyes again, getting annoyed. he packed his things and stood up.

"wait, where are you going?" jake asked.

"i'm gonna study for the remedials, see you." geonu pats his back and leaves while still sending a glare to heeseung.

"hee, go follow him." sunghoon motioned to his friend.

heeseung raised an eyebrow. "and why would i do that?"

"because you pissed him off. go apologize."

"but i didn't even do anything wrong." heeseung sighed. "fine, i'll go." the guy stood up and waved goodbye, following geonu who just went outside.

now what? jake stared at sunghoon who is busy reading in front of him. he's already done checking the papers, but he doesn't want to leave, yet.

"do professors really like to give you their works?" sunghoon spoke without taking his eyes off the book that he's reading.

"uh, i don't know. it became a habit, i guess." jake replied softly.

the guy nodded. "it's almost summer break. do you have plans?"

plans? i don't even know what i want to do. it's not like i have free time.

"i do. i'll be with my parents."

"i see. do you enjoy it? is it fun?"

do i enjoy it? i don't know. "of course." he smiled a little.

sunghoon glanced at him. "stop smiling like that."

his heart dropped when he heard him. "w-what?"

"your smile. it looks forced." sunghoon closed his book and stood up. "don't smile if you're just forcing yourself. it doesn't suit you."

oh. it doesn't.... suit me?

"okay."

"i'll go now, see you around." jake's breath hitched when sunghoon pat his head softly.

what on earth is happening? why is he acting like that?
