"will you please stop using your phone, jaeyun?" jake almost rolled his eyes when he heard his brother's annoying voice.

he smiled fakely and put his phone inside his pocket. "there, happy now?"

jaehyuk grinned. "yep." he handed him a glass of juice while waiting for their food.

jake's brother is three years older than him, and just recently finished his studies. they don't see each other that often, since jake stays at his apartment while jaehyuk prefers living at their parents' house.

"why did you suddenly ask me to go eat dinner with you? do you need something?" jake raised an eyebrow.

jaehyuk laughed. "wow, look at you doubting my kind acts. i'm hurt," he even pointed at his own chest.

he just stared at him with no expression. why is he so dramatic?

"hyung, you're pointing at the wrong side. your heart's on the left."

"oh, really?" he laughed again. how did he even managed to graduate?

jaehyuk cleared his throat. "anyways, mom called me earlier. she told me that i should visit you to check if you're doing great."

he nodded, sighing as a relief. "okay. when will you enter law school?"

"after a month. why, will you miss me?" his brother pouted. gross.

"definitely a no. let's just eat before i lose my appetite."

"how are you so rude? where's my respect huh?"

"hyung, please shut up."

"you're looking at your phone again," jake shrugged and just put it back into his pocket.

he was supposed to go home already, but jaehyuk insisted that he needs jake to pick some clothes for him because he can't shop on his own.

"who are you texting huh? your girlfriend?" jaehyuk teased. "or is it a boyfriend?"

"i don't have time for that."

"people can make time for the ones that they love. so, who is it?" jaehyuk asked again.

"it's just geonu, annoying me. just hurry up will you? i still have to study." jake heard his brother whine again, but he pretends he didn't hear it.

it was already past 10 pm when his brother finally decided to go home. there's only a few people left inside the mall. they were already going down on the first floor when he saw something that caught his eye.

"oh! they also have an ice skating rink here huh, that's cool." jaehyuk exclaimed.

jake stared at the rink below him. this reminds me of him.

when they finally reached the first floor, his brother went closer to whisper at him.

"look at that guy over there, he looks so sad." jake turned his head around to see the guy.

what the hell? why is he here? his eyes widened and he quickly turned around so that sunghoon won't see him.

wait. why is he alone? how long have he been there? i thought sunoo....oh shit.

jaehyuk looked confused by jake's actions. "do you know him?"

he shook his head. "no, i don't. let's just go, i have lots of things to do." he pushed jaehyuk's back to walk again.

"you sure? you really don't know him?" the older eyed him again.

"yes. now let's hurry up."

before leaving, jake stole a last glance at sunghoon. he's still sitting outside the rink, his head lying low.

why did i even have to see this? he looks....so pained. i knew sunoo won't choose him, and i'm sure sunghoon knows that too.

he was too late.

but still.....the pain that he feels, it must've been unbearable.
