carnival week, sophomore year.

"geonu, make sure that the banner is attached tightly to the backdrop okay?"

jake brushed his hand through his hair before going checking the booth again. he's already pissed off by the amount of paper works he need to send to their dean, and now this stupid carnival event just added to his pile of unending stress.

"jake please, stop staring at me with those eyes. i'm getting scared," geonu whined as he got down the ladder.

he chuckled. "sorry, i'm just tired. have you seen the others?" he checked his wrist watch. it's already 8 am.

"sunoo is still inside the lab, probably finishing his display board. daniel's not here yet, and jungwon's with jay. hanbin hyung-oh there he is," he pointed at their senior who's carrying a large box, walking towards them.

hanbin huffed as he put it down. "here's the prizes. goodness, how is it so heavy?" he grabbed a plastic chair and sat down.

"ah by the way," hanbin motioned jake to come closer. "i bought some designs last time, and it's on the dance room. can you guys pick it up?"

"dance room? sure hyung, we'll get it." geonu beamed happily, knowing that he'll see his new found crush there.

on the contrary, jake didn't want to go there. i really don't like seeing him. he wants to say no, but he didn't have a choice.

jake and geonu finally arrived on the dance room. kei saw them first, so he waved at them.

"hello! you guys are here to get the designs right? it's inside the office." kei smiled and motioned them to enter the room.

jake roamed his eyes. okay, i don't see him here. good.

"thanks hyung," there were two boxes. he picked up the bigger one, while geonu carried the other.

they thanked kei again as they went out, carrying the boxes in their arms. since the box is kind of big, it's sort of blocking jake's line of sight.

"geonu, can you walk in front of me? i need someone-oh fuck, sorry!" he stopped walking as he bumped into someone.

"no it's okay-jake?" he raised his head when he heard a familiar voice.

heeseung smiled at him. he almost cursed when he also saw sunghoon standing behind heeseung.

"do you need some help? that looks heavy," heeseung stared at the box he's holding.

he shook his head. "nope, i'm good. thanks though."

"you wanna help? here, carry mine." heeseung's eyes widened when geonu shoved the box in his arms. "there. thank you!"

even jake was taken aback by his friend's actions. what the hell? he fought the urge to laugh. geonu has lost his mind.

"but i didn't-"

"no buts. the sun is burning my face so let's hurry up. follow me," geonu giggled, walking fast. heeseung looks confused and annoyed at the same time. he didn't have a choice but to follow him.

jake smiled while walking behind them.

"you sure you don't want help with that?" oh crap, i forgot that he's beside me.

"no, it's fine. it's not heavy."

silence enveloped the two of them. the silence is killing me, why is the booth so far?

jake tried to focus his attention on the two people bickering in front of him.

"will you stop looking at me like that?" he heard heeseung mumbled.

"what? i'm not looking at you, delusional."

"i can clearly see you looking at me."

he laughed softly. he's already used to geonu being noisy and annoying, but he didn't know that heeseung would be the type to get mad easily.

"why? do you feel butterflies in your stomach when i stare at you?" geonu teased.

"no. i feel like vomiting. get your face away from me." heeseung walked faster to avoid his friend.

knowing geonu, he won't stop. goodluck to you heeseung.

jake got distracted for a moment, and he almost cursed when sunghoon suddenly took the box out of his hands. he stared at him, waiting for an explanation.

"you really look like you're struggling."

"but i said i can do it-"

"too late. i'm already carrying it."

he sighed. "whatever. thanks i guess." he looked around, trying to distract himself from the person beside him.

"what's inside this box by the way?" sunghoon asked out of curiosity.

"just some designs for the booth. i don't actually have any idea since hanbin hyung bought that."

sunghoon nodded. he paused for a moment before speaking again.

"can i ask...do you know where sunoo is?"

ah. of course. it's not sunghoon if he doesn't mention sunoo in every sentence. i already knew it.

jake bit his lower lip. "he's at the laboratory." he stopped walking and took the box from the guy's arms.

"i can carry it from here. you can go to the lab, he's probably still there." i'm pretty sure you want to see him.

sunghoon smiled at him. "you think so? i'll go first then. thanks," he even waved his hand to jake while walking away.

he almost hit himself in the head. since when did i become cupid? he clicked his tongue. still, he thinks that sunghoon should grab the chances while he still can. because i think it'll be over when someone else catches sunoo's attention.
