"Wow. Being the kingdom of the sun and all, it sure ain't sunny down here." You observed, as the door to the dungeon was opened. It was dark, cold and humid. Like your soul, you thought, laughing.
Pete and Stan, along with some other guards, led you down to an empty cell in the very end. This was also the biggest and the only cell that could room your ego. Nice.
As you got pushed down the last bit of the corridor, you noticed two things. One of them was how hungry you were. You really should have eaten something before starting your plan. Second, was how quiet and empty the dungeon was. There was absolutely no sign of other prisoners. "Wow." You muttered. "Am I the only one?"
"Yep." Stan stated proudly, unlocking the cell door. "I guess Corona is just such a peaceful city, that-"
"Oh, it wasn't a compliment." You interrupted. "I just think its funny, knowing how many criminals there are in Corona, and how you currently only managed to get me. And like, I turned myself in."
"Shut it, (Y/n)." A guard hissed. "We're not playing your games anymore. You're not the only one who has grown since the last time we met."
Your gaze fell on a guard, who couldn't really fit his uniform - it was way too tight for him. "Yeah, I can see that..."
"I meant mentally- oh never mind! Step inside the cell, already!"
You turned your head, looking at the other end of the dungeon. There was a door that led up to the castle. Your criminal-instincts got the better of you, and you immediately began debating with yourself how fast you could knock each guard out, and then run up to the throne room, to speak with the Queen yourself. Maybe three minutes? Two, if you hurried?
Then you mentally slapped yourself for thinking that way. This was a part of your plan, and besides, you wanted them to trust you. And you didn't have anything against them thinking, that they had the upper hand.
They clearly didn't.
When you didn't move, someone shoved you inside the cell, themselves. You let out an ouch.
You heard the door being locked behind you, and then Pete's hysterical voice; "Are you aware of how long we've searched for you? How wanted you are? There's a reward on you! And now you just appear out of nowhere, turning yourself in? For what? What are you doing here?"
You smiled sneakily, still with your back to the men. "What's with all the questions Pete? And none of them are even about how I've been these past years? I'm hurt." You chuckled. "And regarding your questions~" You turned around smiling widely "Well, let's just say, that I like to live life a little dangerously."
"Quit it, already. Tell us why you're here, or we'll let you rot up inside this cell." Pete spoke through gritted teeth. He was getting mad. Maybe he still held a grudge about the time you set his pants on fire. Or was that Stan?
"I'll only speak with the Queen." You said sternly. You would've crossed your arms, but your hands were cuffed.
"I'm afraid that's not a possibility." Another said, trying his best to sound intimidating. Cute. "You are going to tell us why you're here, right now."
"Well, I'm afraid that's not a possibility. I demand to speak with the Queen. It's going to happen either way." You shrugged, standing your ground.
"What do you mean?"
"See," You began, clapping your hands. "There are two ways of how this situation can unfold. One is that you'll stop being a bunch of pussies, and show me the way to the throne room, where I can do what I came here for. That way we'll save time. The other is if you refuse to take me to the Queen, and you will leave the dungeon. Then Pete and Stan will go up to speak with the Queen about what to do. She will be conflicted at first, but then she'll decide to hear me out, and you will bring me to her. So, why slow down a process that can't be prevented anyway?"
You smiled, knowing that you've won. After four years of criminality, you've learned that your speaking-skills and ability to guess how a situation would unfold were your strongest sides and the secret of why you were so good at your job as you were.
"D-Don't listen to her. She's trying to trick us somehow. This is what she's known for, remember?" One of the guards tried to remind Stan. But he knew you were right. They knew their Queen and her curiosity.
But still, they wouldn't let you win. They were going to take a long way. Making you wait.
You shrugged. "Well then, go speak with your Queen. I've got plenty of time, I don't care."
The men growled at you, and you just smiled in return. Stan warningly pointed at you. "We're not done here."
Then he, along with the rest of the guard began walking out of the dungeon. So, they chose to speak with Rapunzel first. Okay, you didn't blame them. You would get your way in the end, anyway.
You looked at the cell door and began laughing when you forgot the object that was still in the keyhole. "Guys! You forgot the key!"
A short guy ran back to your cell, where you waited with a mocking countenance. He fiddled with his fingers as he took the key and checked if the cell was locked, his face as red as a tomato. You could tell that he was new at his job.
"Don't worry mate, you'll learn it eventually." You tried to sound sympathetic, but it didn't really work.
The new guard stormed back to the others, who awaited him at the door.
"See you later!" You yelled after them before they closed the door, leaving you in the darkness.
-With Pete and Stan-
The two guards burst through the doors to the throne room, where the Queen, Eugene Lance, and Varian awaited with serious looks on their faces. Pete and Stan guessed that they already knew about the situation from one of the other guards.
Rapunzel and Eugene had been planning the yearly love festival of Corona when all of this had happened, so they had already been in the throne room when all of this happened. Varian was staying at the castle because his dad, Quirin, was out of town for some time, so he had been working on some new inventions as well in here. Pete and Stan weren't really sure why Lance was here, but they had gotten used to it.
It was a good thing they had been gathered. That way they could take action faster.
When Rapunzel saw the two guards, she met them halfway. The three males followed. "Is it true? Is she really here?"
Pete and Stan nodded, completely out of breath. They had gotten here as quickly as they could, and since Corona had been so peaceful lately without any crimes, they were a little out of shape. "I'm afraid so, your highness. She turned herself in."
The brunette ran a hand through her short hair. "I just- She's the second most wanted criminal, why- why would she do that?"
"We don't know. She won't tell us anything, but it can't be anything good." Pete spoke.
"Yeah, you're right about that one. Have you taken care of her?" Eugene, the captain of the guards asked.
"Yes, sir!"
"Have you locked her up?"
"Yes, sir!"
"She's guarded, right?"
Pete and Stan's eyes winded.
"HOW CAN SHE NOT BE GUARDED? SHE'S THE SECOND MOST QUALIFIED CRIMINAL! STAN, GO DOWN AND TELL THE GUARDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! SHE CAN'T ESCAPE!" Eugene scolded angrily.
Stan ran out of the room as fast as he had gotten here, and Pete was left alone. he gulped.
"I don't understand," Varian spoke up, which caught everyone's attention for a while. It was a rare sight that Varian didn't understand something. "Who are we talking about?"
"Not now, kid" Lance hushed, and the adults once again started talking. "Didn't she anything about why she was here?"
Pete shook his head. "She refused to tell me anything. She's just as much of a sneaky little brat as last time."
Pete asked himself if he should tell Rapunzel that (Y/n) wanted to speak with her. It was his duty as a royal guard, but he didn't want (Y/n) to get her way.
No! How could he think like that? He was a professional, and he needed to keep being professional, even if it revolved around (Y/n) - the damn criminal that once burnt his pants off, and humiliated him in front of whole Corona.
"Yeah, (Y/n) have always been one sneaky little criminal. There's no way she would just surrender." Eugene agreed, but just as he was about to say something more, the engineer cut him off.
"Wait. (Y/n)? As in (Y/n) (L/n), the famous and wanted criminal of the seven kingdoms? The girl who invented the lighter?!?!"
A/N: Yes, you invented the lighter, because you're awesome.
Lance shot his hands up in the air. "Boy, you just realized that now? Also, WHY do you sound excited."
Varian laughed awkwardly. "Yeah, eh, sorry, bad choice of words. It's just, I've wanted to see a lighter for YEARS! They must be so handy! I've tried to make one myself, but I've never-"
"Not now, kid"
"You're right. Sorry, Eugene"
"-She did say one thing though," Pete interrupted, gaining everyone's attention. He nodded to Rapunzel. "She wants to speak with you."
Rapunzel smiled, trying to be positivity. "Well then. I guess that's the only way we'll find out what she wants. Pete, will you bring her up to us?"
Pete nodded, heading for the door. He could hear the four talk the situation through, behind him.
While he headed for the dungeon, there was only one thought, echoing in his head:
(Y/n) Was right. She always was.
