Selena's POV;

"Why were you home-schooled?" Justin asked, switching my bag from one shoulder to his other. "I can carry my bag Justin, it's okay, And because I was having a hard time dealing with Tyler's death." Justin smiled small at me, "It's okay, I want to carry it for you." I smiled at how sweet he was being. "What about you? I want to know stuff about you." I giggled. Justin playfully rolled his eyes at me, "There isn't anything special to know." He spoke softly.

I watched his feet padding against the pavement for a second, "I'm sure that's a lie, come on, I wanna get to know you." I nudged his arm. He looked down at me and shook his head with a grin on his face. "Well, I'm sixteen, I play on the football team at school, I'm an honor student, and I have a younger sister." he cheesed at me. "What's her name?" I asked him. "Jenna, she's thirteen." He smiled.

"Here we are." I said to Justin, nodding my head in the direction of my house. "You have a nice house." I smiled and thanked him.

"You know, I missed part of that note in Biology, do you think you could let me borrow yours?" I asked. "You only missed it because you couldn't stop staring at me." He winked. I hid my face in my hands as my blush crept up my face. "Haha, don't blush, it's okay." He laughed. I smiled at how gorgeous his smile was. "But I don't feel like taking my notes out right now, I can just text it to you, what's your number?" He smirked, grabbing his phone from his pocket. I smirked while grabbing his phone out of his hand. "Are you sure this just isn't an excuse to get my number?" He laughed and texted me so I had his number, "maybe, maybe not. You'll never know." He grinned.

I grabbed my bag from him, "Thank you, you really didn't have to carry it for me, that was really sweet of you." He smiled at me and nodded his head. I went to walk away but what I had done next left me in shock just as much as Justin. I leaned up onto the tip of my toes and I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. I blushed instantly and took off, running down the path to my house. I went inside without even looking back behind me.

Why did I do that? He probably thinks I'm so weird. I mentally cursed myself for my stupidity and threw my backpack on the couch before slumping down beside it.

"How was your first day, sweetheart?" My dad walked in. I had forgotten he wasn't working today. "It was... eventful." I smiled up at him. "Did you make any friends?" He asked, leaning against the wall. "I think so." I smiled looking down at my hands. "You think so?" He raised a brow. "Yeah, I might have just messed it all up." I frowned.
"It's okay sweetie, there will be plenty more people you can be friends with." My dad grinned at me.

"Thanks dad, I already have homework so I'm going to go do it and take a nap." I said, walking passed him, kissing him on the cheek as I went by. "I love you." He called after me. "I love you too dad!" I hollered back.

I got in my room, throwing my bag on my bed and then plopping myself onto my bed. I really hope I didn't ruin my friendship with Justin, he seemed so sweet and caring and I didn't want to lose something that could have been special.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when my phone buzzed.

Justin: Here is the picture of the note from bio today. Next time watch the board and not me;) (Attachment Image)

I blushed at his text but quickly replied.

Me: thank you so much! Sorry:/

Part of me was relieved he didn't bring up the embarrassing moment that happened moments ago just out front of my house, and the other part of me was wishing I knew what he was thinking about it.

Justin: You ran off so fast I didn't have time to say bye. If you are worried about the kiss on the cheek, don't sweat it:)

I read the text and grinned to myself, at least I didn't make things awkward.

Me: Sorry for running off, I will make sure to say bye next time, thanks again for the note:)

Justin: No Problem:) see you tomorrow.

I put the phone down to open my notebook and took the time to fill in all the missing information on my note.

I still can't believe he caught me staring at him, how embarrassing. The first day of school and I had embarrassed my self twice in one day. That has to be a new record.

I closed my books once I was finished my homework and slid under the covers on my bed, wanting to relax for a little while. I put my phone on the night stand beside my bed and within minutes I had drifted off into a deep sleep.

"Selena, wake up honey." I groaned at the person shaking me awake from my slumber. "Come on, wake up." the voice continued. I reached my arm up, feeling up the arm, the the shoulder until I reached the face, I place my hand over the persons mouth. "What are you doing?" Its laugh muffled by my hand. "Trying to hit snooze." I grumbled. I dropped my arm and sighed. "I guess you don't want to go get some food then?" I shot up and looked at my dad with wide eyes. "I knew that would wake you up!" My dad chuckled, getting off my bed. "Where are we going?" I asked, getting out of bed and stretching my limbs. "Sophie's Diner?" My dad mentioned.

My dad and I used to eat there all the time when I was a kid. It was our secret spot. It was just on the outskirts of town, It was never busy. My dad and I would only ever go there just us two. "I haven't been there in so long, They have the best chicken burgers." My dad smiled at me, "And the best milkshakes." I nodded in agreement. "Well, lets go!"

My dad and I sat in our usual booth, right in front of the window so we could watch outside while eating. "Hi there, what can I get you?" the waitress smiled at my dad and I. "Two Chicken Burgers, a plate of fries with a side of gravy, and two strawberry milkshakes, please." my dad smiled at her. "Sure thing, that be coming right up." she walked away and placed our order in for the kitchen.

She came back over with our milkshakes to drink while we waited for our food. "How is work going?" I asked, taking a sip from my milkshake. "Stressful, I was hired on for a case on rape." My dad frowned. "The things I see through my work, makes me worry about you everyday Sel." My dad sighed, placing his hand on the top of mine. "I know dad, but trust me when I say, I wont ever purposely put myself in any dangerous situations." I sent him a reassuring smile. He nodded his head and let go of my hand to stir his milkshake with his straw. "The only thing I don't like about your job is how much you work." I frowned, stirring my straw around in my milkshake.

"I know bu-" "Here we are! Two chicken burgers, a plate of fries and one side of gravy! is that all for you's?" The waitress interrupted. My dad sent a small smile and nodded his head. The waitress walked away, leaving us to eat. "This is so good." I growled after taking a bite of the burger. My dad chuckled and nodded his head into agreement.

"I am going to start taking one day a week off of work, so you and I can go back to having our little dates." My dad spoke softly, wiping his mouth with the napkin. "Really?" I beamed. I missed him so much, he is always working and I miss our little daddy daughter dates. "Yes, I miss my little girl." He smiled at me. "I know asked already. But did you make any friends today?" He asked, placing cash on the table to pay for our meal. I was still eating but he let me take my time. "I made one. His name is Justin." I took a fry, dipping it in the gravy before shoving it in my mouth. "A boy?" my dad raised a brow. I rolled my eyes, "Yes dad, a boy. A really sweet one at that." "Be careful, I don't want any grand-babies for at least ten more years." I coughed, choking on the fry in my mouth, my eyes going wide. "oh my god dad!" He chuckled, "What? I'm just saying to be careful!" I rolled my eyes at him again, for like the millionth time. "We are JUST friends. I just met him today for crying out loud!" I threw my arms in the air.

My dad and I spent the whole ride home, talking about old memories, like the time he was teaching me how to climb a tree and I fell out and broke my arm.ย  He still to this day feels bad for that.

When we got home, I went right to my room, to check my phone. I had left it at home so I could spend some quality time with my dad. I had three texts from Justin. weird.

Justin: Hey, I dont mean to bug you, but did you finish the math homework by chance?

Justin: I'm stuck on question 6, could you help me?

Justin: You are probably busy or sleeping, sorry to bug you! Ill figure it out, See you tomorrow. Goodnight:)

I looked at the time Justin had sent them and it was about forty five minutes ago. I quickly responded.

Me: Sorry Justin! I had a little dinner date with my dad and left my phone back at the house, I'm home now, do you still need help?

Justin had responded to me almost instantly.

Justin: Actually yes, but these questions aren't due until Wednesday, do you want to maybe hang out after school tomorrow and tutor me a little bit?

Me: And you say you're a university level student but you can't figure the question out?;)

Justin: Hey, don't judge me, if you don't want to it's fine, I'll just fail and blame it on you;)

Me: oh god, you can't even blame this on me lol, but yes I'll help you:)

Justin: Okay good, I'll chat with you tomorrow then, goodnight Selena:)

Me: Goodnight Justin:)

Justin is so cute, I actually don't know what to do with myself. He is too adorable and so flirtatious, I don't know if he is like this with every girl or not but I'll just see what happens.

He's a jock, on the football team, I'm sure he has prettier and better girls after him.

I woke up the next morning, with a new passion in my heart. Cheerleading. Maybe I'll go to tryouts and see if I even make it. I overheard on announcements yesterday that they were holding a tryout today, at lunch.

I tied my long brown locks into a pony tail on the top of my head and wore spandex capris, my black Nike runners, and a white t-shirt.

I packed my books into my bag and I walked out the door, my mom got called into work around 4am this morning and my dad left not long after, so I didn't get to see them off today.

I watched my shoes as I started down the sidewalk. I actually don't mind school, it seems like a nice school with nice people, but maybe that's just because I met a nice person. I haven't made any other friends, but maybe I will today.ย  I heard someone walking behind me but I just ignored it and kept going.

I jumped out of my skin when I felt a hand grab my shoulder, I clutched my hand to my chest and turned to a laughing Justin, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, but your face was priceless." He said between laughs. I giggled at his laugh and just shook it off.

"You couldn't have said my name or something? You had to grab me?" I giggled, I watched as he started walking beside me.
"I did call your name, but you were zoned out." He smirked at me. That smirk...

"You said you play football..." I started, Justin raised a brow, nodding for me to continue, "do you know any of the girls on the cheer team?" I asked. Justin furrowed his brows together, "yeah of course, why are you asking?" I shrugged my shoulders, "I was just, ya know... wondering." "You aren't thinking of trying out for the cheer squad are you?" He asked in shock.

I shot my head in his direction, "I might be, why? What's wrong with that?" I asked. "Nothing," he held his hands up in defense, "it's just, those girls can be a little harsh and aggressive." He sighed, combing his fingers through his hair.

"And you don't think I could handle it? You have only known me for one day, you can't judge how I am off of one day." I murmured. "No, you're right, I can't, but one day is long enough for me to know that you're too good compared to those girls." I furrowed my brows at him, "what do you mean?" "I mean, you are too good of a person to even bother being around those girls, they don't have any good intentions in their entire bodies, they are very selfish and very disrespectful." He spoke softly.

Justin opened the door and held it for me as we walked in the school, "thank you." I said in a hushed tone. "Honestly, I don't see the harm in trying out, maybe you have it wrong." I sighed, smiling to a girl as we passed her in the hall. "I don't know Sel, I think I know them pretty well, you have only been here one day, but if you want to make that decision, I'm not going to stop you." He sighed, unlocking his lock, flinging his locker door open.

Sel... he called me Sel. I just about collapsed right there, made me weak in the knees. I hid my blushing face with my locker door, not for long because Justin had flung mine open even wider to lean on my door. This was becoming his habit. "Why are you so flushed?" He cocked a brow. "I don't know, I just got hot for a second." I lied. "Oh, do you want to sit down? I can go grab you a water from down the halls." He worried, I didn't want to seem like something was wrong when in all reality it's just him making me swoon, but a water would definitely help cool my cheeks down. "Maybe a water, I have money in my wallet, just hang on I'll grab it." I looked up at him, "no it's okay, it's a water, I can get this for you." He put his hand out, stopping me from moving.

I watched as he took off down the hall, I couldn't help but watch his long strides, he looked so good today, he was wearing dark jeans, his football jacket, which I'm assuming they give you the first year you make the team, and a black t-shirt underneath. He had black vans sporting his feet, I had a feeling he owned a pair in every colour.

I notice the number six on the back of his jacket and 'Bieber' sprawled underneath it. It must be his last name. It kind of sounds familiar but I can't quite put my tongue on it.

I decided to stop watching him, last thing I need is him catching me checking him out for the millionth time. I grabbed my biology books and my math books and shut the locker, as I shut the door, I jumped about three feet for the second time in what seemed seconds. "Jesus, stop sneaking up on me like that!" I laughed.

Justin handed me the water, laughing. "You're so easily scared, why are you so jumpy?" "I honestly don't know, I've always been like that." I giggled. Justin shook his head, smiling, "Come on, we can't be late to bio, or Mr. Dawson will make us dance in front of the entire class." I stopped in my tracks "He wouldn't!?" I gasped. "Trust me, he will, now let's go." Justin laughed, grabbing my hand and pulling me to catch up to his fast pace.

I looked down at our connected hands, and couldn't help but blush, my stomach going in knots, my mind going fuzzy. This gorgeous boy, was holding my hand.

Justin and I had made it into the room just as the bell rang, "That was close you two. I had the chicken dance music ready and waiting." Mr. Dawson smirked.

I looked up at Justin in shock, "I told you." He said, walking us to the back where we sat yesterday.

"Okay class, I hope you like who you are sitting near, because this is your seating plan for the rest of the semester, no moving around." Mr. Dawson said.

"Are you okay with sitting next to me all semester?" I asked Justin, placing my books down on the desk, "I will be fine sitting next to you, if you promise not to stare at me all semester long." He smirked. I gasped at him, "I promise I won't, gosh that's so embarrassing." I slouched into my chair.

"Don't sweat it, I'm just playing around." Justin laughed. I smiled at him, he's got such a beautiful smile.ย  "Will you show me how to get to back campus after class?" I asked him. He turned to me, a frown slightly taking over his face, "You're really going to try out for cheer?" "Yes." "And there is nothing I can do to change your mind?" He asked.ย  "Nope." I said, popping out the 'P'sound.ย  "Alright," he sighed, "I'll take you."
