Chapter Seven

Selena's POV;

"Where are we going?" I squealed as our feet pounded against the grass and broken branches. "It's a surprise!" Justin laughed, running faster, pulling me by my hand. We weaved through the trees, running as fast as our legs could take us, crushing leaves and already broken branches.

"I can't run as fast as you! I have little legs!" I cackled, tugging on his hand trying to get him to slow down. "We are almost there!" He chuckled.

Justin came to an abrupt stop, causing me to bump into the back of him. "Ow!" I place my hand on my forehead that had hit his shoulder blade. Justin chuckled at my clumsiness.

We were stopped in front of a wall made out of bushes. Trees surrounding us all around. When justin said he wanted to take me somewhere I didn't think he meant the middle of the woods.

"What now?" I huffed, trying to get my breathing to calm down. "We go on the other side of this and we are there." He smiled. "If you think I'm crawling through bushes, you are sadly mistaken." I rose my brows at him. He laughed, "No, there's an opening through there," he pointed to the one bush that was covered in flowers, the rest were all normal with green leaves on them, "So don't worry princess, you won't get dirty." He smirked down at me.

I rolled my eyes. He grabbed my hand and those butterflies that were dancing in my stomach when he touched my hand earlier were back, and they were just as strong. I looked down at our conjoined hands and interlaced fingers and for a second I thought that I could actually get used to this. I could get used to the feeling this gorgeous boy gives me.

Justin started walking towards the bush, pushing the branches aside, revealing an opening, he nods his head to tell me to go first, I crouch a little and walk through the bush, tugging on Justin's hand to get Him to follow right after me.

I watched as Justin came through the bush, flowers falling to the ground as he brushed passed the branches. I giggled as he stood back up, with flowers coating his hair. "What?" "Give me your phone!" I giggled, "What? Why?" He furrowed his brows, digging his phone out of his pocket, placing it in my open hand. "Smile!" I cheesed, as I held the phone up to him. He instantly flashed the biggest smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners, his nose scrunched up, his pearly whites on display, and his beautiful dimples indenting his beautiful face. I quickly snapped the picture. I clicked on it to look at the beautiful boy with flowers scattered in his hair.

"Give me my phone." He snatched it from my hand, holding it up facing me. "Smile." He winked. I looked up, a small smile spread across my face, my cheeks heated up. "Beautiful." He murmured, looking down at the picture. I tilted my head down, letting my hair hide my face. I noticed flowers hanging in my long strands. "Why didn't you tell me I had flowers in my hair?" I asked, reaching up to pull a couple out of my hair.ย

He smiled at me, walking closer, he placed his hand on my cheek, I leaned into his touch, he rubbed his thumb under my eye. "Because you look so beautiful,ย  and the flowers made you look even more beautiful. Why change something that is absolutely perfect?"

I smiled at his words, my cheeks burning from the heat of my blush.ย  "I love when you blush." He smirked, he rubbed his thumbs over the apples of my cheeks. Chills ran down my spine as he touched me, his eyes never leaving mine.

"Come on, I want to show you why I brought you here." He lead me up a small hill, when we reached the top, the air was completely knocked out of my lungs. It was absolutely stunning. It was the view of the city. The sun was starting to go down, so the Orange and pink colours were starting to spread across the sky. The buildings looked absolutely beautiful.

"Justin..." I whispered. He wrapped an arm around my shoulder, pulling me into his side, "I know, that's why I love coming up here. I haven't been up here in a couple years." I looked up at him. His focus was on the view in front of us, I took the time to admire him.

His beautiful jawline, it was so sharp, his brows furrowed as the sun was slightly in our eyes, his flawless skin, his luscious lips that his tongue kept running over. His tattoos looked even more beautiful as I got to see them close up.

"Enjoying the view?" He smirked, his eyes never leaving the skyline. I smiled, "This may be your view, but you're mine." I whispered. He had to know how beautiful he was. I've never seen someone as gorgeous as this boy right beside me.

He looked down at me, a smile plastered on his face. "I'm surprised, usually you shy away or regret giving me compliments." I shrugged, "It's different this time, I guess."

I directed my attention back to the beautiful sunset, seeing as it was almost completely hidden, soon allowing the moon to take over for the night.

I felt my phone vibrate, I fished it out of my pocket, gasping at the screen.ย  Oh shit.

8:06pm

Dad: Where are you?

"Justin!ย  I have to go! Right now!" I gasped, running through the bush of flowers that we had come through earlier. "What's going on?" He questioned, running behind me.

"I'm late! I'm supposed to be home by eight!" I shrieked. "Oh shit." He cursed.ย  "Come on, I know a shortcut!" He said, grabbing my hand, running off with me hot on his tail.

"I'm scared." I whispered, we were standing on my front porch, I couldn't bring myself to open the door. "It's okay, just go inside before you get into any more trouble." Justin sighed, rubbing his hand through his hair. "Your parents must hate me." He frowned. "Why on earth would you say that?" I furrowed my brows. "Because ever since we started hanging out, you've been getting into trouble, and it's all my fault." His sad eyes peered down into my confused ones. "They don't hate you, even if they did, I don't. And that's all that should matter." I smiled, I got up on the tip of my toes and kissed him on the cheek.

He smirked down at me, "I was going to give this whole speech on how you should stay away from me and how bad I am for you, but who am I kidding? I couldn't keep myself away from you, even if I wanted to." He confessed, pulling me in for a hug.

"You aren't bad for me, you don't have a bad bone in your body, just because I've been late a couple times and you were in my house longer than you should have been, doesn't make you bad. I'm glad I have this effect on you. I've never made anyone feel like that before." I cheesed at him. Taking deep breaths, I let his cologne fill my lungs, he sure smelt heavenly.

"Stop smelling me and get inside, before your dad kills me and you." He smirked, he patted my back and pushed me gently towards the door. I turned back to him, smiling "Goodnight Justin, thank you for tonight." He nodded his head before taking off down my porch and down the street.

I walked inside, closing the door with my back, I leaned on the door, letting my head fall against it, I closed my eyes and smiled at tonight's events.

"Where were you?" A loud voice startled me. My eyes shot open to see a very fuming father standing in front of me. "Out." I whispered. "With that boy?" My dad spat. I rolled my eyes, "why does it matter daddy?" "Don't you dare roll your eyes at me. It does matter when you have been breaking curfew and rules." He hissed.

"I don't like that boy." "And why not?" I hissed, he can't possibly dislike someone because I've been late a couple times, there are worse people out there in the world. "He's making you reckless, you can't even follow simple instructions. He is becoming a distraction." "Dad it's only been a week." "Only a week and he has you acting out? Imagine if I let this little friendship continue." He scoffed. "Let it continue? What are you even talking about?"

"I don't want you seeing him anymore." My eyes bulged, "What!" I shrieked. He can't be serious. "You heard me." "Dad! I was only late, I wasn't doing anything wrong or illegal! I promise I'll fix my behavior, just please dad. Don't take away my only friend." My emotions were starting to get the best of me. In a way, this made me feel the same way I did when Tyler died.

I felt my body start to tremble at the memory of losing Tyler, anxiety coursing through my veins. My chest starting to heave up and down in rapid movements, no matter how many breaths I would take, there still wasn't enough air in my lungs. I panic, looking for something solid to grab onto, feeling weak, I felt my knees hit the ground as I collapsed. My head started to go fuzzy, my vision becoming unclear.

"Shit! Selena, baby! It's okay!" My dad worried, rushing to my side, he pulled me into his lap, holding my head to his chest, he rubbed my back as he rocked us back and forth, tears were pouring out of my eyes. Usually my dad doing this would help me pull out of my panic attack, but not this time. He was the cause.

"Don't t-take him a-way from me." I sobbed, thrashing out of my Dads grip, I pulled my knees to my chest, rocking myself on the hardwood floor, I choked out sobs, as I tried to breathe. My chest moving faster and faster.

"Baby, I'm sorry!" My dad begged, tears threatening to leave his eyes.

"Don't t-take him." I whispered, I sobbed harder as my chest was starting to ache. My breathing was becoming more shallow as the panic attack rushed through me.

"Justin! Justin! I need you to get over here, now!" I heard my dad panic. I looked over to see my phone in his hand, he called Justin. The reason he started this, was because of Justin.

I jumped, startled at the rapid knocks on the door, Justin didn't even hesitate before busting the door open, alarm was spread all over his face, he looked at my dad in panic before he spotted me trembling on the ground.

I cried harder, seeing Justin standing at my feet. "What happened to her?" Justin rushed down to his knees, holding my face in his hands. "I was giving her trouble for being late, and then... and then I told her I didn't want her being around you anymore." My dad sighed, guilt rushing over his face.

Justin put his focus back on me. He sat onto his butt, bringing me into his lap, so that I was straddling him. He held my face in the crook of his neck, he rubbed my back. Hiccups leaving my lips every few seconds, I felt like I was about to pass out.

"Shh, Selena, it's okay. I'm here. I'm right here baby." He murmured into my ear. He held me close to him. Butterflies erupted my stomach at the pet name. I closed my eyes, leaning my face into his neck more, I took a deep breath, the one big breath I've been waiting for, the air filled my lungs, allowing me to let it out slowly, but shakily. I sighed into Justin's neck, as the ache in my chest subsided, getting the oxygen it needed. I felt relaxation flood my body, my anxiety slowly releasing itself from my body. My trembling hands grabbed the collar of Justin's shirt, pulling him into me.

"That's it baby, breathe slowly for me." He whispered in my ear, shivers going down my spine as his warm breath hit my ear. This is what I needed. He is what I needed. "Thank god." I heard my dad sigh behind us. I took another deep breath, Justin's cologne filling my nostrils, relaxing me completely.

I moved my hands from his collar and wrapped my arms around his neck, hugging him to me, like if I let go, he would disappear. "Don't leave me." My voice barely being able to reach a whisper. "I'm not going anywhere." Justin murmured. He wrapped his arms around my back and let me sit there, clinging onto him for dear life. As long as I needed to.

"She hasn't had one in so long." My dad sighed. "Panic attacks are a scary thing." Justin muttered, his voice causing vibrations through his chest. "You know about panic attacks?" My dad questioned.

"My little sister has them, not as bad as this, but they are different for every person." Justin stated. My dad sighed, "At first I didn't understand why she freaked out so bad when I told her I didn't want her seeing you anymore, but when she told me not to take you away from her, it all clicked for me." Justin nodded, "Tyler." Justin whispered. "I don't know much about him, just a little bit from what she has told me, but it makes sense, she lost Tyler without a say. There was nothing she could do to keep him, so when you told her not to be around me, it gave her that same feeling. Powerless. It just made all those emotions come back and it was too overwhelming for her." Justin explained.

For not knowing him long, I wasn't shocked at how smart he was, not just bookworm smart. I never told him how Tyler and I had said goodbyes, but he sure knew how I felt about letting Tyler go. Justin nailed it.

"I'm really sorry Justin, not only for being so stubborn that I tried to forbid her from seeing you, but for even judging you in the first place. You are a smart kid, and I can tell you really care about my daughter. Thank you for being here for her tonight, I tried to help calm her down but I couldn't, you were the first person I thought of when I didn't know how to help her. You are the only person she has. Please Justin, Don't hurt my little girl." My dad murmured.

"She's a very very good friend to me sir, I wouldn't ever dream of hurting her, not on purpose anyways. She's an amazing person, I just know she is going to be such an important person in my life." Justin said, just above whisper. I smiled into his neck.

"I think she fell asleep." My dad chuckled. "Nope, she's awake, I felt her smile against my neck. She's just comfy right now. Isn't that right Sel?" Justin chuckled, I lifted my head from his neck. My arms still wrapped around him. I smiled innocently at him.

He chuckled at my expression, using his thumbs to wipe away some left over tears off my cheeks. I shoved my face back into his neck. Breathing in his scent again. My dad chuckled at the scene in front of him on the floor.

"I don't know how much longer I can sit like this," Justin started, "my ass is starting to fall asleep." I pulled my face away from his neck and started giggling like crazy. Justin chuckled at my giggles and helped me off his lap.

"Sir, is it okay if I take her up to her room? I won't try anything, I promise." Justin questioned, his eyes filled with worry.

"Please Justin, call me Julian. And yes of course, just leave the door open." He smiled at Justin.

Justin picked me up in his arms, bridal style, making me giggle. I let my head fall onto his shoulder, my face once again falling into the crook of his neck.

"That one." I pointed to my bedroom door. "I remember." He chuckled, opening the door. He walked over to my bed and placed me gently on my fluffy duvet. He walked to the end of my bed and slowly started to peel my shoes off my feet, "You definitely don't want to sleep in these." He smirked.

I wiggled my toes as he removed my shoes, making him smile, he tickled the bottoms of my feet, causing fits of giggles to escape my mouth.

He pulled back my duvet and I slid my body into it. He placed the blanket onto me and began tucking the sides under me. He had me tucked in so tight, I couldn't move. "I'm not five, I won't roll out of bed." I smirked. "Just being cautious." He stated, glints of humor danced around in his caramel irises.

"Alright, I'm going to go, before your dad comes up here and beats my ass because I'm taking too long." Justin patted his hand on my leg before turning to leave my room.

"Justin wait." I stopped him. He turned to me with a furrowed brow. "Will you lay with me? Please." I begged. I open up the blanket and slid over, making room for him. "I don't think that's a good idea, I wouldn't want to disrespect your dad." He sighed, his fingers combing through his honey coloured locks.ย  "Just until I fall asleep? Please, I'm not ready for you to leave yet." I could feel myself getting choked up, I didn't want to be alone right now.

Justin nodded slowly, a frown etched on his beautiful face, saddened over how upset I was feeling.ย  He turned my light off before slowly crawling into bed beside me. The moonlight shining in from my window, allowing us to just faintly see each other.

I nuzzledย  in close to him, placing my face in my favourite spot, the crook of his neck, my arms folding in front of me, resting against his side, and my legs intertwined with his. Justin had his one arm, under my neck, and his hand gently brushing along my back, instantly relaxing me.

The smell of him was so soothing, the sound of his heart beating in sync with mine, reminding me of the one person I was missing the most. Tyler.

But somehow, I feel like Tyler is responsible for bringing Justin to me. Maybe this was Tyler's way of showing me that he's never far. He's always here.

I slowly drifted off, feeling nothing but peace as the darkness took over and my mind slowly shut down for the night.
