Selena's POV;

I packed my bag, and finished tying the strings on my white converse. I stand straight up, straightening my outfit out, making sure there was absolutely no wrinkles in any article of clothing on my body.

I turned when hearing my dad walk into the kitchen. "Good morning daddy!" I smiled at him, kissing his cheek as I walked past him. "Are you excited for your first day?" He smiled at me, pouringย  coffee in his mug.

I rolled my eyes playfully, "Who is ever excited to start at a new school?" I giggled. "I used to love school, I don't know where you get your disliking of school from." He tisked jokingly. "I never said I didn't like school in general, I said who likes to start at a new school. There's a difference."

My dad rolled his eyes, grabbing the news paper and heading over to the dining room table.

"Good morning honey, good morning Sel!" My mom smiled as she came down the stairs. "Good morning!" I smiled, grabbing a piece of bread and putting it in the toaster, hoping that eating something would help calm down my nerves.

"Sweetheart, we have that event to go to with the Bieber's tomorrow night, did you clear your schedule for then?" My dad asked my mother. "Yes, darling. Sophie is going in for me." She leaned down and gave my father a peck on the lips.

I admired their love for one another, I hope someday I can be as in love as they are. I jumped at the pop of the toaster and giggle to myself. I put a little bit of butter on it and take a bite. "You get so frightened every time the toaster pops!" My mom laughed, clearly seeing my scare moments ago.

I check the time and see I have ten minutes until I have to start walking to school. "I have to leave soon!" I said nervously, looking at both my mother and father. "You'll be great honey, you'll make tons of friends!" My mom smiled at me.

"Are you sure you don't want a ride? I could drive you." My dad said softly, raising a brow at me. He had taken the day off so he was actually home when I woke up for once. "No, it's okay daddy. Thank you though. Enjoy your day off!" I smiled.

"I can't believe it, my baby going into grade ten." My mom sniffled. My dad and I shot our eyes into each other directions, rolling our eyes in unison. "Mom, you get emotional over everything." I sighed, running my fingers through the ends of my hair.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, it's just, you aren't my little baby anymore." She wiped a tear that had fallen down her face. I fought every urge in my body to not roll my eyes again.

"She's fifteen, stop giving the poor girl a hard time about growing up." My dad said, patting my moms thigh. I mouthed a 'thank you' to my dad and he nodded his head in my direction.

"I have to go now, I want to give myself enough time to find my locker and classes." I smiled, walking over to my dad giving him a hug and then my mother right after.

"Have a good day sweetie! I won't see you when you get home but give me a call to tell me all about your first day!" My mom smiled, kissing my cheek. "I will." I smiled.

"I'll be home when you get home, so you will be able to tell me all about your day, instead of me hearing it from your mother right before bed!" My dad smiled. I nodded my head and walked out the door.

I am so glad my dad is going to be home for once, he is always working and it makes me miss him so much. He's usually up and gone by 5am and not home until after 11pm, he always stays late at his office. Business men, always staying late.

My mom on the other hand, is a nurse. She is always on call, so even when she isn't at work, she's still working. As much as my parents are always busy, I'm grateful for the close relationship I have with the both of them. I don't know what I would do without them.

I look at all the houses, on my walk to the school, some were little and some were extremely huge. They all ranged in different colours.ย  I look ahead and I see the school not too much further.

River Heights, the building was huge. It had thousands of glass windows, and looked to be about four floors. It was all white, and on the front above the entrance doors was 'River Heights' in big black letters. They had solid coloured banners hanging on each side of the doors, they were a navy green colour, that must be their school colour.

I noticed all the groups of teenagers scattered all over the premises. I walked up to the doors and took a deep breath. It's time for a new change.

I open the giant glass doors, and head inside. It was such a beautiful school. It looked like something from out of the movies. It had stone tiled floors, and the lockers were white but every other locker was the navy green colour. They even had a little water fountain and pond right in the center of the main floor.

"Hi I'm Janice, I'm a tour guide, you look new, is there anything I can help you with?" A tall blonde haired and blue eyed girl beamed at me. "Sure! I have no idea where to even go to find my locker!" I giggled. She smiled at me and asked me for my name.ย  "Selena Gomez" I said softly and watched as she flipped through her papers that she had on a clipboard. "Ah! Here you are! Locker AB326, come this way! AB hallway is just over here!" She smiled.

I followed her around and tried to find little landmarks that I could remember for next time, we were taking so many turns, I had no idea if I was going to remember this. "Here we are!" She smiled.
"Do you have your combination? I can show you how to use the lock. Sometimes they can be tricky!" She smiled at me.

"I do! I wrote it down, hang on a sec." I said as I reached in the pocket of my jeans, pulling out a little piece of paper with three sets of numbers on it. "34-4-0" I said.

"Okay, so for these locks, you spin them around three times counter-clock wise before you even turn it to the first number. Once you do that, you continue in that direction until you hit the 34, and then you will go clock wise to the number 4, and finally you go back counter-clock wise to the zero and yank it down!" She smiled, pulling my locker door open for me. "Thank you so much!"

She wrote something on her clipboard and looked at me again. "There will be a tour guide on each floor, so if you don't see me, don't worry!" I smiled at her and watched as she walked off. I put my backpack in there and started setting my notebooks up on the shelves.

I take a couple pictures of my best friend Tyler and I and I put them on the door with little magnets I had bought. Trying to keep a piece of him with me, everywhere I go.

I hear the locker to the left of mine, being opened and I looked to see who it was, maybe I could be friends with someone.

I seen a teenage boy, a few inches taller than me, he had chestnut brown hair, and heart shaped lips. He was gorgeous. I blushed when he noticed me staring and smiled at me. I gave him a small smile and took this moment to take in how beautiful his eyes were. They were a caramel brown and were perfectly complimented by his dark thick brows.

"I'm Justin." He reached his hand out, probably wanting to introduce himself so I would stop gawking at him. "Selena." I smiled, gripping his hand in my own. "Are you new here?" He asked, hanging his bag on a hook in his locker, setting his books on the shelves like I had previously done. I nodded my head and looked at my feet as my hair curtained around my face, hiding my blush. He chuckled and shut his locker, "what's your first class?" He asked. "I'm not sure yet, I have to go get my timetable from the main office, but I have no idea where that is." I shrugged, tucking my hair behind my ears. I can't get over how beautiful he is.

"I can take you there, it's on the way to my biology class." He smiled. I nodded in approval and shut my locker, following behind him. I watched his legs as he moved, his strides were long, causing him to take two steps by the time I took five. He was wearing white vans, ripped jeans and a grey hoodie. His shaggy brown locks, sticking up in the front of his head, due to the gel I'm assuming he puts in it.

"Where are you coming here from?" He asked, snapping me out of my stare at him. "Texas, but I have actually lived here for over a year, but I was homeschooled for the first year of high school, and now here I am." I smiled at him. He flashed his pearly whites at me and nodded to himself. "Have you lived here your whole life?" I asked him, he turned his head in my direction slightly as we turned the corner and started to head down another long hallway. "Well I was born in Canada but was raised here so yes I have, good ole Chicago." He chuckled.

His laugh made the heat rise to my cheeks, I let my hair fall in front of my face to hide my blushing. "You blush easily." He stated, smirking at me. In return I only blushed harder, causing Justin to laugh. "Well, here we are." He outstretched his arm to point out the room in front of us with the 'Main Office' sign on the door. "Thank you so much." I smiled. "Anytime, I hope you enjoy it here. Welcome to River Heights." He smiled, turning on his heels and walked into a class room that was a couple doors back. I sighed to myself in disappointment when he left.

I took a deep breath and walked into the office, just as I had done so, the bell rang. "Hi, I'm here for my timetable." I murmured to the secretary. "Name please, hun." She smiled warmly to me. "Selena Gomez." She turned into the filing cabinet beside her and scanned through the drawers, running her fingers over the tops of the papers as she went through them. She spotted mine and handed it to me. "Here you are. Your first class is in room C26." She smiled. I looked at her with a nervous expression. She giggled and then stood up, "I'll walk you to your class."

We walked down the hallway and I thanked her for taking me to my class, she knocked on the door once we got to the class room. The teacher opened the door and he smiled at me. "This is Selena, she's new here and she is in your class this semester." The secretary smiled. "Thank you ms. Hamilton, hello Selena, I'm mister Dawson, come on in and we will get you settled." He smiled.

I walked in and took a quick look to the chalkboard, there was a note about dissecting a frog and I looked at Mr. Dawson in confusion. "Welcome to university Biology. You can sit wherever you'd like." I scanned the room to find somewhere I would like to sit, when my eyes met with a pair of beautiful caramel orbs that were familiar, staring back at me.

"Over here!" Justin patted the seat next to him, I smiled and quickly made my way over beside him. "I didn't know you were university level?" Justin questioned, his eyebrows meeting together. "You never asked, silly." I laughed. Justin looked at me with amusement on his face.

"I didn't bring my books, I totally forgot to grab them, can I borrow a piece of paper and a pen?" I whispered to Justin, as the teacher jumped right into the note written on the board. "Sure thing." He whispered, passing me a pen and ripping a piece of paper out of his notepad.

I looked at him as he wrote the note down. He's a lefty. Cute. My eyes made their way up his arms, that were now on display in his white t-shirt since he removed his hoodie. My eyes scanned up his long neck and to his jaw. Seeing how sharp his jaw was made my insides scream. He's so beautifully crafted. I made my way to the couple freckles scattered on his face, watching as he held his heart shaped lips into his mouth as he focused on the note. He even had a cute button nose. His eyes darted between the board and his paper, causing his long lashes to fan over he tops of his cheeks once in a while. His thick brows furrowed as he wrote. Finally, I made it to his hair, his beautiful chestnut brown locks. Perfectly messed up on the top of his head. He truly was a piece of art.

"You know, if you keep staring at me, you're going to miss the note, and Mr. Dawson is a hard-ass." Justin smirked, not taking his eyes away from the board and his note. My eyes widened at the realization that he had caught me full on obsessing over his looks. I shifted in my seat, picking up my pen and started writing the note. My blush burning my cheeks so bad I thought I was going to have to leave to splash water over my face.

He is so distracting.

In the last five minutes of class Mr. Dawson let us talk amongst ourselves.

"What are your other classes?" Justin asked, I reached down and grabbed the paper I had shoved in my purse earlier. I unfolded it and handed it to him.
"If I didn't know any better, I would swear you are stalking me." He chuckled shaking his head, placing the page onto the desk in front of me. "Why is that?" I furrowed my brows. "We have every single class together." He smirked. My eyebrows shot up in surprise, I grabbed the paper reading the classes. University Biology, University Math, Fitness, and Physics. This is one brutal semester.

Throughout the day Justin had showed me around and helped point out little landmarks to help me remember where everything was, we sat together in every class, and he told me which teachers to stay on good terms with, and which teachers were just douchebags. His words not mine.

"How did you like your first day at River Heights?" Justin asked, shutting his locker and leaning on the door of mine. "It was good, although I don't think I would have had as great of a day if it weren't for you." I smiled. He smirked down at me and looked in my locker, I watched as his eyes made contact with the picture of Tyler and I laughing. He looked at me with his brows furrowed. "Is that your boyfriend?" He asked. "No, it's my best friend. Well, was." I spoke softly, sadness washing over me. I looked down to my feet and fought to hold back tears.

Justin's face quickly turned into worry when he saw how upset I was. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say anything upsetting." He placed his hand on my back, and gently rubbed in circles. "It's okay." I softly smiled. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." He sent a reassuring smile in my direction. For some reason I knew I could trust him and that he was a genuine guy. "He passed away. He had a brain tumor and they couldn't do anything about it by the time they found out." A tear slipped down my face as I remember the day Tyler came over to my house sobbing so hard he could barely breathe.

"Oh my gosh, Selena I'm so sorry for even asking, that was such a stupid thing for me to do." He sighed, he didn't even hesitate before pulling me into his arms, my face resting in his chest. "It's okay, you didn't know." I sniffled. I breathed in the scent of his cologne and held him close to me for a second, enjoying the comfort he was giving me. I might have only known him for a day, but I felt like I could trust him, and I could tell already, he was going to be an important person in my life.

"Let's get you home, I'll walk you." He smiled, grabbing my bag from me before shutting my locker. We walked down the hallway and headed out the doors.
