5| The Little Sister's First Mission

Imperial Execution Ground

Kurome's group is strengthened by a method which is the polar opposite of the one used on Akame's group. Her real battles are about to begin...

Five prisoners, two females and three males, stood in front of Bill and next to an Imperial officer. The scientist in charge of the remaining children meant to be assassins stood in front of the prisoners with his arms behind his back.

Bill: "You are despicable beasts that sow seeds of sorrow and threaten the peace of the Empire. You will be executed. Do it."

He snaps his fingers, five children that were about the age as Akame and the others. Albeit a little bit younger. One of them was Kurome, Akame's younger sister.

One of the prisoners looked shocked, watching as Kurome unsheathed her katana.

Prisoner: "What!? A little girl like this..."

The female was cut short as Kurome swung her blade, killing the prisoner instantly as her head was lopped off. The only male of the group, Natala, thrusts his spear forward, the tip of the weapon piercing one of the prisoner's neck, killing him instantly as well.

The others fared well, except for the girl with long hair. Her weapon had missed the vital spot for her kill.

Remus: "On no!"

Gin: "You idiot! You messed up again! You have to finish it in one strike!"

Finally working up the courage to finish off her target, the girl, Remus, wipes sweat off her forehead.

Remus: "Good."

Bill: That wasn't 'good,' you fool. I've giving you all a collective punishment. Clean up the execution grounds."

Remus: "Eeek!"

Natala/Womyn: "Yes, sir! Our sincere apologies!"

With their punishment now established, the group began cleaning the execution grounds. First removing the bodies, they got brooms and mops to clean up the blood that was all over the place.

Remus: "I'm sorry everyone. It's all my fault. I'm so sorry!"

Gin: "Seriously, you're such a useless dimwit! Just how many times are you going to mess it up!?"

Womyn: "You shouldn't have any problems if you aim for the vital spots..."

Natala: "Maybe part of you is hesitating."

Kurome: "If that's true, then you need to get used to this as soon as possible."

Natala: "But Kurome, you were able to do it on your own first try, right? That's amazing."

Womyn: "I had to stab four times on my try."

Kurome: (straightens bow tie) "That was just luck...I was barely conscious of what I was doing."

The young girl remembered her first time killing her target. One her first day, Bill had pushed Kurome, her swinging her katana down uncontrollably. The young girl had gasped and looked on in horror, the man she had killed bleeding out as he helplessly watched himself die.

Kurome: "I vomited all night after that..."

Natala: "Me too. I got used to it after a few days, though."

Womyn: "Anyway, I really want to try a real mission. I'm sick of just killing prisoners."

Remus: "I heard we're going to be on a real mission soon...I'm so nervous!"

Gin: "You should see it as an opportunity! We need to produce results as soon as possible and raise our kill ranks so we can catch up to the Elite Seven."

Womyn: "The elite group that's receiving special training separately?"

Remus: "They're so amazing! They even get special treatment!"

Kurome: "A real...mission. I might be able to see my sister..."

In the lab

???: "Here's the stylish poison you wanted. Just pour it into the wells and you're good to go."

Bill: "Well done. How long will the effect last?"

The leader of the assassin group turned to the crazed scientist in the room, which was his partner, Stylish.

Stylish: "They'll be covered with sores all over their bodies and be in pain for at least three days. After that, they'll be completely be cured, but while under the effect, it'll look exactly like Rubeola."

Bill: "That's perfect, doctor. We'll be able to weed out spies with this. They always leave a village at first sight of an epidemic."

Stylish: "Like always, the price for this is ten male prisoners. Don't give me any women, even if hell freezes over."

Bill: "Of course. I'll make arrangements right away. Now it's our turn...our first mission...!"

The plains near the Imperial Capital

It was late at night, Kurome's group on the outskirts of the Imperial Capital.

Natala: "Listen up. We're going to go over the mission one last time."

Womyn: "Yes sir! Luck favors the prepared, right?"

Natala: "Our targets are the foreign spies who are hiding in the villages near the Capital. The other teams should have weeded them out and sent them our way. Our duty is to kill whoever passes by us."

Remus: "Ye-Yeah, got it! We can do it!"

Gin: "It's so simple that we don't really need a second review! Easy peasy!"

Natala: "Gin, your hands are shaking."

Gin: "Hmph! I'm just trembling with excitement, dimwit!"

Kurome: "It's alright. We just have to do as we've always done. We've been doing all kinds of training for this precise moment."

Womyn: "That's right! It's exactly as Kurome said."

Remus: "I heard that the death rate for the first mission is high, but...everyone, don't die!"

Natala: "Of course we won't. We're all going to survive!"

Kurome: "They're here!"

Up ahead, they could see a large group walking along the path. Those were the spies they were assigned to kill.

Natala: "Everyone, take your drugs!"

Everyone took out the doping pills they were assigned, popping one into their mouths.

Natala: "Let's do this. No one is going to get past us alive!"

The Revolutionary spies look ahead to see Kurome's group running at them, weapons drawn.

Revolutionist 1: "Kids again!? What the hell is going on!?"

Revolutionist 2: "You already know that we can't take them lightly! We have to kill them!"

Natala was the first to rush in, thrusting his spear forward as he kills one of the Revolutionary spies. Kurome was then second, in quick succession, she killed three of them at once. The other three join as they now engage in bloody combat.

Revolutionist 3: "Wh-What's up with these kids...? The...they're too strong..."

His sentence was cut short as Remus rushed at him with her sword. She cuts him down, killing him as she sighed in relief. But because of this, she let her guard down.

Remus: "We can do this, we can do this! We're all going to survive this togeth--"

The girl was cut off as someone snuck up on her from behind. He jams his sword into her, making Remus surprised and the girl now bleeding heavily. Then another came in from the side, also jamming his sword into her side, the girl now bleeding even more.

Kurome saw this and went to assist her, swiftly cutting down the two. Womyn wasn't faring as much though, her going up against a bulky man. With his large weapon and quick strikes, he slashed and hacked, breaking Womyn's weapon. And in the process, he cuts Womyn in half, Natala watching it happen as he couldn't do anything.

Natala: "Womyn!"

Gin: "Don't lose focus, dimwit! Do you want that to happen to you, too!?"

Kurome: "How dare you do that to Womyn!"

Revolutionist 4: "You're gonna be split in half, too!"

The revolutionist swung his weapon down, Kurome dodging it and leapt off the weapon to gain height. He looked at Kurome in disbelief, not realizing his head had been swiftly cut off by the girl.

Afterwards, the surviving three head to Womyn's corpse, the poor girl had been sliced in half. Her guts, intestines, and blood were pooling out of her sides.

Kurome: "Womyn...Remus..."

They then heard breathing, the three looking to Remus. She had started shifting.

Natala: "Hey! She's still breathing!"

Remus: (panting) "I...I was the one that said...don't...diee..."

Kurome: "Remus is going to make it...! Great...!"

But it wasn't great. When they had returned to the Capital with an injured Remus in tow, things weren't looking up for them. In fact, Bill was both furious and disappointed.

Bill: "I'm going to say this again...even if the target was strong, only you, Group A, had any casualties. Repay your dead comrades by wallowing in your humiliation. You won't receive your medication today, either. Continue reflecting on your failures."

Bill leaves the three in their confined space. They were all panting heavily and sweating. They needed their medication.

Natala: "Gin, Kurome...are you alright?"

Kurome: "...Yeah."

Gin: "Stop worrying about others. Creeper."

Natala: "You're all so strong."

Unknown to the two, Kurome was crying at where she sat. She refused to die nor fail. She wished to see her sister with all her might.

Bill was currently walking down the hall to where Remus was being treated. Along the way, he finds one of his assistant nurses standing outside the door Remus resided in.

Bill: "How's No. 32?"

Nurse: "Her damage is very severe. Even if she were to live, her days as an assassin are over."

Bill: "I see. Bringing back the wounded is always a wasted effort. I'll have to educate them on that point next time."

The scientist went into his pocket and felt a syringe there. Going inside Remus's room, she instantly shot up from her bed.

Remus: "I apologize for my failures during the mission. Once I've recovered--"

Bill: "No, you're no longer needed. Rest well."

Remus: "Huh...?"

Before Remus could comprehend what he said, Bill took out the syringe and injected it into her neck. Remus began to laugh, pure joy on her face as she shook uncontrollably on her bed.

Bill: "However, you did put your life on the line for the Empire. I'll at least send you off in peace."

The girl continued to laugh in joy, the girl imagining she was still at home with her family. As if she wasn't taken by the Empire. However, it was all a lie. Remus now laid in bed, dead, her final thoughts was of her family.

Bill: "Get rid of her. We'll begin preparations for the next mission. They have to keep fighting and earning more experience. This Empire has too many smoldering sparks...!"

The darkness of the Empire runs incredibly deep...
