24| Confessions
Akame, Akira, and Kurome found themselves in front of an oil shop. Kurome and Akira stepped up first, the icy blue-eyed teen opening the sliding door to allow the younger girl in first.
Akira: "Um, excuse me? We're with the Suekuni Trade Firm. We've come to buy some oil."
Store Clerk: "Uh-huh." (turns around) "Oil's in high in demand these days, so it'll be expen...sive!?"
Akame: "We'd be ever so grateful if you would...give us a discount?"
Kurome: "Yeah."
Upon seeing the two sisters, noticing how cute they were, even though the two kept a straight face, the store clerk laughs heartily.
Store Clerk: "How can I say no? But just a little one, you scamps!"
Akame: "Thank you so much!"
Akira smiles at the scene before he turned around slightly, feeling a presence. Turning his head around slightly, he sees a man walking away, but it was clear to Akira that the man was looking at him. Akira narrows his eyes in suspicion.
Akira: (thoughts) 'That guy...he doesn't have the gait of a merchant...something worth mentioning to Gozuki.'

Gozuki: (flipping through papers) "You guys are competing in sales, aren't you? After tallying the results...Team Green wins."
Natala: (surprised) "Th-Thank you very much!"
Akira: (sigh) "And this is why I told you two not to eat everything too much."
Kurome/Akame: "We're sorry."
Akira: "Well, it's done now, so there's no point on dwelling about it." (looks to Gin) "Looks like you and your team won, Gin. Sounds like quite a bundle."
Gin: (pouts and looks away) "Hmph. Whatever."
Akame: "Did something happen?"
Natala: "Ah! I messed up a little...it's no biggie."
Akira: "Ah, that's right. I have something to report."
Gozuki: "Go ahead."
Akira: "There was a suspicious merchant."
Gozuki: (surprised) "Nice. I'll look into it right away. You guys keep working."
Gin: "We should switch up teams!"
Natala: (thoughts) 'Things are so awkward now...'
Timeskip
With the group now switching teams, Team Akame were now composed of Akame, Green, and Natala. The three had traveled down to the city downriver.
Natala: (setting bags down) "I'm going to go around and make our introductions, see if I can get the negotiations started."
Akame: (concerned) "We just go to the inn. Can't you do it tomorrow?"
Natala: "If I sit still too long, I worry too much. I'll be right back. You guys rest."
Akame was confused as to Green started to nervously sweat. He kept thinking if Natala was aware of his crush on Akame. With Natala now having left the room, Green goes digging into his bag.
Green: "Well, since we're free until tomorrow..." (pulls out paper boat) "I thought I might finish up this guy. I don't want to be trying to work on it while we're on the boat."
Akame: (slight smile) "Is that some kind of paper craft?"
Green: "Yep. A great way to keep my mind off things."
Akame: "Can I make one too?"
Green: "Sure. I'll teach you."
Akame: "Please."
It was at this moment, a course of electricity runs through Green. He was completely wrapped up in his hobby when thought that this was the chance he was awaiting for. To tell her. He kept pondering about it, after teaching Akame about how to make one and watching her create her own. Soon enough, she finished, albeit a little roughed around the edges a little and not as polished like Green's.
Akame: "Like this?"
Green: (clapping) "Yes! Very good, Akame!"
Akame: (smiles lightly) "You're always so quick to compliment me, Green."
Green: "It's just...I dunno...the natural thing to do." (slight blush) "I can't help but be sweet to the person I like."
The green-eyed boy laughs nervously, Akame not looking a bit surprised. She didn't forget about what he admitted when the herself, Poney, and Cornelia were trying to sneak up on the boys.
Akame: "Green..."
Green: "I-I'm sure you're surprised. But I do. I like you, Akame."
Akame: (thoughts) '...Uh-oh. I can't tell him I already knew that.'
Green: "A-And well...um...I can guess...how you feel about me...y-you see me...as just a friend, right? You don't acknowledge me...as a guy?"
Akame: (looks down, slightly sad) "...I'm sorry. That's precisely it."
Green: (mad blush) "...!!"
Akame: "I have my adorable little Kurome."
Green: "...Huh? That's the reason?"
Akame: "I've finally gotten to see my sister again. If you asked who I like right now...I'd say my family."
Green: "I...see. Then, what about Akira?"
Akame: "Akira is like how I see you, but I see him as a brother more."
Green: "But at the same time, there's no guy you have a crush on!?"
Akame: "No."
Green: (stands up) "Good. That's all I need to hear! Just don't forget that I'm up for the position!"
Akame: "I'm flattered to hear you say that, but...just to be sure...it's not Kurome you like...? It's me?"
Green: "Yes! I think you're the cutest of all, Akame!"
Akame: (blushes slightly) "I...I see..."
Green: (runs out of room) "Well...just don't forget that!"
Akame: "Right..."
With Akira
Having done the same thing as what Team Green did yesterday, Team Akira had traveled back to the same town to make trades once more. Gin had sent Kurome ahead to make the trade and had pulled Akira to hang back with their wagon.
Akira: "So? What'd you need to call me back here for? I'd rather not leave Kurome by herself and Akame would have our heads on a pike should anything happen to her."
Gin: "Y-You're not seeing anyone, right?"
Akira: "I'm not." (raised eyebrows) "Is it that important that you called me back here?"
Gin: "W-We've spent some time together in the last two months, right?"
Akira: "Of course, considering we're teammates now."
Gin: "A-And when I first saw you, I-I thought you were pretty good looking a-and k-kinda cool..."
Akira: (thoughts) '...So it is going where I think it is going.'
Gin: "A-And I was wondering if y-you wanted to try...you know..."
Akira turns around to look at the horizon, pondering about the thought. If he were to accept, he'd have to forget about the red-eyed beauty, even if he knew that his feelings would never reach her. And he also wanted to forget the pain he felt when he witnessed the corpse of Cornelia. That same day she died, he would've taken her out on a date had she still lived. And if they did go, he might've enjoyed it.
He turned back to look at Gin, the girl fidgeting in her spot slightly as she await Akira's answer. It was quite obvious she was nervous. He gave a slight smile, patting Gin's head.
Akira: "I wouldn't mind if we gave it a try."
Gin: "R-Really?"
Akira: "Yeah...I suppose...it'll be a nice change of pace."
Gin: "Th-Then you won't regret it!"
Akira: (thoughts) '...Yeah...I sure hope I won't.
