"Ay, Ms "that's disgusting" keep it moving." Daryl raised his voice to Maia who stopped for some air, her headache had gotten slightly worse the past hour or so.
"Screw you, bigfoot." Maia remarked and walked forward, Luna walked next to Maia, clutching Moo Moo to her side.
Anthony walked ahead with Glenn, they were speaking about Resident Evil as well as how they used to play it back in High School.
"Mai, can you give me a piggyback, my feet hurt." Luna begged and Maia clutched her bow and arrow to her.
"I can't, I know your feet hurt but I'm just covering our backs. Why don't you walk ahead with Rose, Lara and Jose hm?" Maia informed the girl with a slight saddened tone noticing Luna's frown.
"Okay." The little girl mumbled causing Maia to sigh to herself before ushering the girl forward.
A few yards back they heard a faint gunshot in the distance and Lori was getting worried.
Lori stopped walking and looked back through the trees, trying to see anything or even hear anything.
Maia walked past Lori and noticed how she stopped so she stopped as well.
"Lori." Maia muttered and then the others turned around and stopped.
"You still worrying about it?" Andrea asked.
"It was a gunshot." Lori reported with a cautious tone.
"We all heard it." Daryl turned towards the group who stopped walking.
"Look, I'm sure it was nothing." Giselle walked towards Lori before placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Why one? Why just one gunshot?" Lori turned around abruptly causing Giselle to step back.
"Maybe they took down a walker." Daryl shrugged and Lori clenched her jaw slightly.
"Please don't patronise me. You know Rick wouldn't risk a gunshot to put down one walker, or Shane. They'd do it quietly." Lori ranted and Maia bit the inside of her cheek.
"Shouldn't they have caught up with us by now?" Carol inquired softly.
"There's nothing we can do about it, anyway. Can't run around these woods chasing echoes." Daryl retorted and glanced around through the trees.
"So, what do we do?" Lori asked swiftly.
"Same as we've been. Beat the bush for Sophia, work our way back to the highway." Daryl replied flatly and Jose makes a confused face.
"Who's Sophia?" He piped up.
"Carol's daughter." Lara whispered to him but it was loud enough for everyone else to hear her.
Carol looked at the ground with a sigh and Giselle put a hand on the woman's shoulder.
"I'm sure they'll hook up with us back at the RV." Izraella tried to give the group some reassurance.
They all started walking again before Andrea stayed with Carol and told her how she knew how it felt losing someone.
"Maia!" Luna whined and Maia groaned softly.
"What!" Maia mocked the same whine she did.
"My feet hurt." Luna replied.
"God dammit." Maia was starting to get annoyed with her little sister.
"I'll tell you what it's worth. Not a damn thing. It's a waste of time, all this hoping and praying." Daryl's voice caught Maias attention.
Carol was on the brink of tears, confused at the small outburst.
"We're gonna locate this little girl. She's gonna be just fine. Am I the only one Zen around here? Good Lord." Daryl retorted before Izraella and Maia snorted at his "Zen" comment.
"What are you laughing at?" He glared at the two women.
"Nothing, Nothing." Maia and Izraella shook their heads with a smile trying to cover up their laughs before the kids all had a smug grin on their faces.
"We're being Zen." Maia mocked Daryl with a smile and he flicked his arm at her in response before rolling his eyes, walking ahead while the group let out a chuckle.
"The most Zen of them all." Izraella joked whilst Maia laughed.
Maia tried to stifle her laugh but it didn't work.
"Shut up." Daryl scoffed.
"I'm sorry, I know this is serious but I can't." Maia laughed, her laugh was light and contagious as she tried to stifle her laugh even more, Anthony laughed as well.
"You sound like a hyena." Anthony laughed softly and Maia laughed even more and she leaned on Izraella for support.
The others couldn't help but let out a small, slightly confused laugh as well.
Maia's smile grew wide as she laughed trying to cover her mouth with her hand and tried hiding the dimples on her cheeks.
Glenn couldn't help but notice the faint dimples on her cheeks as she laughed.
It sounded so genuine and heartfelt.
She started to calm down and she sighed.
"You done?" Daryl piped up as they walked forward.
"Yes, bigfoot, get the rock out of your shoe." Maia's tone changed quickly as she spoke to Daryl who had an annoyed tone with her.
Izraella and Maia both gave each other a look and chuckled softly before walking behind the others.

They had been walking for another hour before it was slowly going to get dark soon.
The group strode through the trees quietly, the kids all walked next to each other behind the adults whilst Maia kept watch at the back of everyone else.
"We'll lose the light before too long. I think we should call it." Daryl suggested and most nodded.
"Let's head back." Lori stated.
"We'll pick it up again tomorrow?" Carol asked and Lori then nodded.
"Yeah, we'll find her tomorrow." Lori spoke.
Daryl whistled for the rest to follow him again and they turned back to the way they came from.
They kept walking for a while, walking over a few logs.
Luna was tapping Maia's leg.
"Luna, I can't pick you up." Maia huffed and Luna groaned.
"Do not throw a tantrum, my feet hurt and my head hurts, ask Anthony to pick you up." Maia groaned and Luna sighed.
"Fine." Luna huffed and Anthony was staring at Luna as she asked him to pick her up.
Anthony then lifted up his sister and sighed.
The other kids snickered softly as they watched Luna get lifted up by her brother.
They kept walking for a little bit longer, the group was quiet.
The small conversation between Daryl and Andrea was a bore, it was both unnecessary and awkward.
Maia's mind couldn't help but overthink, the thought of trying to find Sophia was more prominent.
Maia may haven't known the girl yet but she was sympathetic.
She never thought she would be in this position, out in the woods trying to find a missing girl.
If this "apocalypse" didn't happen she would've been in the military, helping Luna with homework, staying home and watching movies with Anthony on a saturday night, eating popcorn and pretzels.
Out of all those thoughts one thought always haunted Maia, one of her worst fears.
She couldn't help but think if she was in Carol's position, if she lost Luna, she couldn't imagine how Carol was feeling.
All those "What if?" questions lingered in her mind as they all walked in the direction of the highway.
What if Luna was the one missing?
What if they never found Sophia?
What if-
Maia stopped herself from continuing those repetitive thoughts, none of it would happen, they would find Sophia and she would protect Luna.
Maia snapped out of her thoughts and didn't notice how she absentmindedly moved forward and walked next to Glenn.
There was still that awkward tension between the two and she was not willing to break it.
She was going to let it sit until it broke itself.
She was confrontational but not in situations that involved her having to confront the issue.
In this situation Glenn was her issue.
His glances at her from time to time were not assisting her in trying to ignore him and act as if nothing happened.
Maia was extremely sure the group had been starting to catch on to his stares — in fact you couldn't miss them.
She noticed how close they were as they walked beside each other and she looked up at him to see he was already looking at her then looked away quickly.
Avoiding her gaze, Maia then shifted away from him as they walked ahead.
The screams of terror erupted from the distance, catching everyone's attention.
"Andrea?" Lori yelled for the women in worry.
"Andrea!" Anthony put Luna down and ran ahead as the others followed close behind.
The snarls of a walker mixed with the screams of the blonde woman.
As the woman's body came into view, she was lying on her back on the ground.
Everyone was running and not far ahead was a short-haired brunette woman on a horse with a baseball bat in her and she knocked the walker in the head causing it to collapse to the ground.
"Lori? Lori Grimes? Whoa." She yelled for the woman and stopped her horse from moving.
"I'm Lori." The woman piped up as they all slowed down, seeing Andrea was fine and more intrigued by this mystery woman's presence.
"Rick sent me. You've got to come now." The woman sounded urgent as she sat steady on her horse.
"There's been an accident. Carl's been shot." The woman spoke with a southern accent and she stared at the group.
Lori's eyes widened at the information allowing the woman to continue explaining.
"He's still alive but you've got to come now." She finished and Lori seemed to have frozen in place.
"Rick needs you! Just come!" Confusion filled everybody's faces and Lori quickly took off her backpack and stepped forward.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. We don't know this girl. You can't get on that horse." Daryl protested as Lori climbed onto the back of the horse.
"Rick said you had others on the highway? that big traffic snarl?" The woman yelled and Maia looked at Anthony who seemed to be in a state of awe.
"Uh-huh." Anthony replied with a nod, his jaw open.
"Backtrack to Fairburn road. Two miles down is our farm. You'll see the mailbox. The name is Greene." The woman explained in a rush and with that she and Lori were off.
The group was silent and glanced at each other.
"What the fuck." Izraella piped up in pure confusion before the sound of the walker that was lying on the ground sat up with slight groans.
"Shut up." Daryl then shot the walker in the head with his arrow.
Daryl walked forward and the others glanced at each other then all followed behind him in a hurry as they back tracked to the highway once again.
——————
"Shot? What do you mean shot?!" Dale exclaimed in concern as the group made it to the highway, the sun starting to set.
"I don't know, Dale. I wasn't there." Glenn spoke breathlessly.
"All I know is this chick rode out of nowhere like Zorro on a horse and took Lori." He explained panting and /
stood next to Dale, leaning on a car behind him.
"You let her?" Dale turned to Daryl.
"Climbed down out of my asshole, man. Rick sent her. She knew Lori's name and Carl's."
Maia walked up the hill as well as the Ramìrez's that walked in front of her as Anthony and Luna who walked in front together.
"I heard screams, was that you?" Dale asked Andrea, it was obvious he was genuinely worried for her well-being.
Yet she completely ignored him.
"She got attacked by a walker." Glenn piped up first as the others walked past him.
"It was a close call." Anthony breathed out and lifted Luna over the small 'fence' before going over it himself.
"Andrea, are you alright?" Dale piped up as the blonde woman stopped in front of the RV door.
She just stared at him blankly and shook her head before walking into the RV.
"Don't look like she's all right." Jose piped up and Maia rolled her eyes.
"Jose." Maia put a finger to her lips, signalling him to keep quiet.
He looked up at the older girl through his eyelids and gave her a tight lipped smile.
Giselle chuckled slightly at the small interaction.
Luna glanced back at Maia and gave her a sad stare.
Maia put her hands on hips as everyone dispersed of themselves and gave her sister a sad glance.
"What?" Maia asked softly.
Luna looked up at Maia with a frown and Anthony chuckled softly.
Maia gave him an annoyed glance before looking back at Luna.
"I'm sorry if I annoyed you..." Luna trailed off to her older sister.
Maia's gaze softened immediately and she tilted her head sadly.
"Lu...it's okay, I just had a bit of a headache, I had to look out for us at the back. I didn't mean to sound upset." Maia stepped forward and squatted and sat in front of her.
Maia moved a piece of hair out of Luna's face and put a reassuring hand on her cheek.
"Are you okay now?" Luna asked softly.
"I'm okay." Maia gave her a soft smile and kissed her forehead.
Anthony leaned on the hood of a car with a small smile as Lara was showing him an action figure she found in the back of one of the cars.
"Look at this, it's a Jill Valentine action figure." Lara smiled widely and showed Anthony before he laughed.
"No way." He smiled.
"Glenn! Dude, come check this out!" Anthony exclaimed and Glenn looked up at his name being called.
His eyes were wide in confusion.
"Lara just found a resident evil figure." Anthony laughed and Glenn's jaw dropped.
"No way." Glenn smiled widely.
"Yes way, it's fucking Jill." Anthony spoke enthusiastically and Glenn walked forward.
Lara lifted up the figurine to show her older brother.
"Awesome." Glenn mumbled with a smile.
————————
"I won't do it. We can't just leave." Carol refused.
The group that was gathered on the highway were speaking of heading to the farm where the woman on the horse told them to go.
Carol was insisting on staying on the highway in hopes of getting Sophia back.
"Carol, the group is split. We're scattered and weak." Dale replied, trying to reason with the woman.
"What if she comes back and we're not here?" Carols eyes scanned around the group as they stared back at her.
"It could happen."
"If Sophia found her way back and we were gone, that would be awful." Andrea piped up and Daryl nodded.
"Okay." He piped up.
"We got to plan for this. I say tomorrow morning is soon enough to pull up stakes. Give us a chance to rig a big sign, leave her some supplies." Daryl explained.
"I'll hold here tonight, stay with the RV." Daryl nodded.
"If the RV is staying, I am, too." Dale was determined and confident as he spoke, trying to give Carol the slightest reassurance.
"Thank you. Thank you, both." Carol spoke softly as she thanked the two men.
"I'm in." Andrea piped up after a few seconds of silence.
"I'm in." Anthony put his palm up and the others followed after.
"If everyone else is staying then-." Glenn was cut off by Dale who looked between him and Maia.
"Not you, Glenn. You're going. You too, Maia." Dale pointed to Maia who gave Dale a slight confused look.
"Take Carols Cherokee." Dale sighed.
"Me?" Glenn spoke in disbelief.
"Why is it always me?" Glenn complained and Maia stayed quiet as he tried to reason with Dale.
"You have to find this farm, reconnect with our people and see what's going on. You'll have Maia with you, from what I've seen she's a great defence you'll be just fine, right, Maia?" Dale turned to Maia whose eyes widened when everybody else looked at her.
"Uh, yeah, right." Maia nodded and made short eye contact with Glenn before she looked away.
"But most important, you have to get T-Dog there." Dale glanced between the two.
"This is not an option." Dale stated.
"Caught that drift, Dale." Maia sighed, scratching the back of her neck and looked in T-Dogs direction.
"That cut has gone from bad to worse: He has a very serious blood infection. Get him to that farm. See if they have any antibiotics." Dale explained to the two.
"Because if not, T-Dog will die, no joke." Dale finished and the kids looked concerned and each gave each other a glance.
"Keep your oily rags off my brother's motorcycle." Daryl piped up and held a bag filled with pills as he threw a rag to Dale.
"Why'd you wait till now to say anything? Got my brother's stash." Daryl rummaged through the plastic bag.
"Crystal, X...Don't need that. Got some kickass painkillers." Daryl threw a pill bottle to Glenn.
"Doxycycline." Daryl threw another pill bottle to Maia who caught it.
Maia examined the bottle and her eyebrows raised.
"Not the generic stuff either. It's first class." Daryl stated and Maia scoffed.
"Talk about drugs." Maia muttered.
"Merle got the clap on occasion." Daryl replied to her scoff.
"I can tell." Maia sighed and opened the bottle looking at the pills inside, earning glances from everyone else.
"What?" She felt eyes on her.
Anthony shrugged in response and she glanced at everyone else.
"Okay, then." She muttered and closed the bottle up again before walking towards T-Dog.
T-Dog glanced at Maia who stood next to him.
"Hey." He mumbled.
Maia leaned on the RV.
"How you doing?" Maia sighed and stood next to T-Dog who sat on the side of the RV.
"Just peachy." He gave her a dazed smile.
"Daryl found some painkillers, some Doxycycline." Maia shrugged.
T-Dog nodded his head.
Lara, Rosalyn and Luna came skipping towards Maia.
"Maia, Maia, Maia!" The three girls exclaimed in unison.
Maia looked at the three girls with a confused gaze at their sudden enthusiasm.
"Yeah?" She leaned next to T-Dog just providing him with company as she held onto the pills.
"We found something cool, wanna see it?" Luna piped up excitedly and Maia let a small smile come onto her face.
"What is it?" She asked with a confused chuckle.
"Well, not really cool, but we found this weird baggie full of grass." Lara gave Maia the bag and her eyes widened.
"Oh...okay, uh, where did you find this?." Maia gave them a shocked look and then glanced to T-Dog who laughed.
"What?" Rosalyn queried.
"Nothing, but where did you find this?." Maia examined the bag and asked the three girls again.
"In the back of one of the cars." Luna stated simply.
Maia nodded and then whistled calling Izraella over.
The three girls looked confused but didn't think anything of it.
"What's up?" Izraella smiled at Maia and Maia smiled in return and showed Izraella the baggie.
Izraella's eyes widened and her jaw dropped.
"You girls go talk to Jose, alright?" Izraella ushered the three away, seeing Anthony and Glenn glancing at the confusedly.
Izraella didn't allow the girls to protest and she ushered them away.
"Where the actual hell did you find that?" Izraella's eyes were wide.
"I didn't find it, they did." Maia gave Izraella the same shocked expression in return.
"You mean?" Izraella was trying to make sense of the situation.
"Yes them, they found marijuana." Maia whisper yelled to Izraella.
"Holy shit, are we gonna keep it?" Izraella asked Maia with a certain temptation in her eyes.
Maia gave Izraella the same look back.
"We said we would quit." Maia shrugged and examined the baggie.
"Well, it wouldn't hurt now, we're in an apocalypse." Izraella shrugged and Maia nodded.
"Good excuse." Maia whispered and put the baggie in her pocket.
"You know you're sharing right?" T-Dog piped up and Maia glanced at T-Dog.
"Yeah, yeah, keep it to yourself." Maia replied.
"I won't tell a soul." T-Dog smirked and put up his fist for a fist bump and she fist bumped him lightly before the three burst into soft laughter.
