𝐗𝐗. 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 π…πŽπ‘π†π„π“ 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇

"Wait! Freya!"

As soon as I hit the cool night air as large, warm hand caught around my wrist. The touch felt far too familiar. Suddenly I was turned to face Ahkmenrah.

Ahkmenrah's beautiful green eyes pierced into my boring and dull brown ones. "Freya," he breathed gently, speaking my name so tenderly, I wanted to curl up into a ball and cry. It like there was he saying goodbye.

"I want to give you something." I met Ahk's eyes again and I could feel the burning blush rise to my cheeks and for the first time in a long time, I was completely and utterly speechless. I swear that I looked like a fish.

"Oh. Um. Okay... I'm so sorry Ahk. I don't have anything to give back." I whispered, lowering my eyes to my navy converse shoes.

"Your smile is enough, Rey." Suddenly I felt like laughing at the smooth, yet very Ahkmenrah like words.

"Close your eyes Freya." He whispered into my ear. Ahk took my left hand from my side and placed something both heavy, yet light in my upright palm.

Without being unable to control myself I opened both my eyes. I held up the golden chain in the dark.

"Ahk. Wow, this is beautiful. Won't someone notice something like this missing?" The golden chain wasn't bulky and I knew enough about Egypt to understand its meaning and what the symbols meant. It had a golden scarab β€” a pair of wings embroidered with diamonds with a green disc in the middle, with a golden Ahkh symbol below.

Ahkmenrah smiled gently the moonlight gleaming off his pearly whites, "It doesn't matter. It belongs to you, it belongs to Ramla." There was a hint of sadness in his eyes and longing for her but he managed to compose himself well. It made me think back to his death. A cold shiver ran down my spine.Β

"I was planning to give it to you on your birthday, but this is a matter and a time that is necessary." I frowned, confused at his words.

"Ahkmenrah. What is going on? You're acting odd." Ahkmenrah suddenly laughed.

His hands were on my shoulders. "Freya. Listen to me. It pains me to lose you, like the way I lost Ramla. I lost myself when I lost her. By losing her I fell into the darkness of an empty heart. I need you to know that if something happens to meβ€”"

"I know Ahk. I saw you." A wave of panic washed over Ahk, he shifted his feet much like a nervous horse and it to me he suddenly seemed agitated. It had been three years and yet he still acted like this when I told him.

"Oh," he spoke simply, it was what he said. Moments passed until he asked. "What did you see?"

I bit my lip. "I don't know how to say this...but I saw how you died."

A wave of emotion washed over him, as he blinked. Ahk swallowed gently, turning away. "Oh."

"Wait don't you remember?" I asked placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, I knew I was pushing it. A lot.

"Of course I do. I don't like thinking about it that's all β€” it doesn't matter, Rey." Ahk motioned for me to turn around, he took the necklace from my palm, then moving my blonde hair gently over my shoulder.

"Who I was back then is gone. Ahhmenrah the fourth king of the four kings ruler of the land of Merenkahre died a very long time ago. I might be the same physically, but I have changed, grown far beyond who I was back then." As the necklace was clasped around my neck, Ahkmenrah smiles tears glistening those beautiful green eyes.

"You are still brave and kind and loving and selfless Pharaoh. You are someone I aspire to be like. You inspired me. You've taught me so many life lessons, I will forever be thankful for." Something flashed briefly in Ahkmenrah's eyes. Sadness.

Suddenly Ahkmenrah's arms were around me folded into a loving embrace. I hugged him back completely oblivious of what this reminded me of, when Ahk and Ramla were saying goodbye, except it was reversed.

My mother's car honked. "Now go. I'll see you tomorrow Freya. Just promise me you won't forget what you mean to me."

I smiled clearly confused of his words. "Of course Ahk." I gave him a quick hug, slinging my backpack over my shoulders as I raced down to greet my mother.

"Who is that?" She whispered, a teasing tone laced through her voice.

I laughed. "It's nothing you need to worry about."

THRID PERSON - AHKMENRAH

It was only seconds later when Ahkmenrah realised that he'd never see her again. Tears streamed down his eyes as he made his way back into the museum.

Ahkmenrah knew that he should of been getting wrapped up into his bandages and back into his sarcophagus but he was only greeted with more tears. No one seemed to notice his sadness, everyone was to busy getting in their crates.

"What are you doing Pharaoh?" Teddy whispered quickly, alarmed by the young king's foolishness.

"Have hope lad. Freya wouldn't want this from you." Ahkmenrah met the presidents eyes.

"I-I know. I just c-can't." He whispered helplessly. Then the guardian of Brooklyn sat down next to the Pharaoh.

"I thought you were staying here Ahk?" Larry whispered, astounded.

Ahkmenrah turned away from Larry. Ahk didn't understand how she didn't see through his dilemma. Ramla would pick up on something like this in a heart beat.

"Unfortunately, due to the reconstruction and renovations of Ahkmenrah's tomb he is being shipped out to the Smithsonian with the others. It seems myself, Rexy and the other major exhibits are staying here for now."

"Will Ahkmenrah come back?" Horror washed over Larry. Although Ahkmenrah didn't see how her eyes lit up when someone spoke of anything to do with Egypt, how many hours she researched leaders and tombs. Larry hated to admit it but he knew that his daughter had feelings for the Pharaoh.

"The board apparently decided to make a trade, they will be trading Ahkmenrah and his tabletβ€”"

"For my b-brother." Ahkmenrah whispered, his voice croaking.

Larry was obviously confused. "I didn't know you had a brother." Ahkmenrah didn't answer.

"Without the tablet?" He asked again. "I need to know. Freya won't be able to handle it. She could barely survive a day without you."

"She didn't visit me in a week." Ahkmenrah replied sarcastically, rolling his green eyes.

"In truth Lawrence," Teddy spoke ignoring what Ahkmenrah had spoken. "Sometimes it is better to tell a small lie, then deliver a painful truth. That is why we told Freya Ahkmenrah is staying here." Larry was shocked. Freya was right, she never said it but they needed him.

"Yes, we hope that Ahkmenrah will return, but the cost is that sadly the others will remain in storage."

Ahkmenrah sighed standing up. His body trembled but he maintained his posture. "I will see her again and in time, she will be old enough to know my feelings I have for her."

Larry blinked, opening his mouth to say something like every father would, but he closed it. Larry Daley was far more concerned about Teddy and those remaining at the moment.

Ahkmenrah took a deep breath, preparing himself for the pain the tablet would make him endure. Ahkmenrah knew it in himself that he was in love with Freya, he just wanted her to know the truth about their love.
