As my father, Larry Daley, drove the two of us to the museum of natural history. Suddenly my father smiled, turning to me. "You haven't got a lot of sleep lately, since you and Nick have been coming to work with me. So you won't be staying long."
I nodded gently, clutching the backpack on my lap closer. I let out a yawn, but I tried to play it off cool by pretending to cough, it didn't work. "I just need to ask Ahk a few questions about his life."
Dad raised his eyebrows playfully, "You're spending a whole lot of your time with him..."
I swallowed, not particularly happy about having to explain everything to my dad. "Dad, first of it isn't like what you think okay? I have a really good reason to hang around with him.."
Dad's eyes narrowed and he gripped the steering wheel so tight his knuckles were white. Dad shook his head, "Freya, I understand that your body is changing and you may have feelings that you didn't have beforβ"
I covered my face with my hands and let out a laugh. "Hold your horses, I'm only thirteen. It isn't like that!" Oh, god. Of course he would suspect something like that.
"Oh." Was all my father said, and looked out the windshield shamefully.
"Look. I really want to tell you, but it doesn't even make sense to me... Once I figure it out, I'll tell you everything dad. Ahk is the only person who can really honestly help me Dad. Don't hate on him, he's like one of the nicest people ever. He's had it rough in his life."
Dad gave me a confused look, but he seemed defeated. I noticed he was worried for me, but he was always cool with these sort of things. Just this wasn't normal at all. He let out a sigh. "Just don't tell your mother anything about this kiddo. She won't take it well."
I smiled at the thought, but flinched. I couldn't already imagine my mother fuming with anger, red faced, and as my dad, nick and I, sat at the kitchen bench as she yelled at the three of us. You did not want to see my mother a angry. "Yep, I one hundred percent agree."

Ahkmenrah pulled off the bandages from his face, "Hello Rey!" He greeted me happily. I smiled at the nickname he insisted on. I stood standing next to the tablet with a wide smile.
"Did you have a good day at school?!" He asked, over the past few days, Ahkmenrah seemed very interested in my life. I found it only fair, I knew so much about him, he was bound to know about me.
I sighed, "It's the same as always. I only have a few more days until my assignment is due, so I need to ask you a few questions..."
Ahkmenrah nodded with a grim smile, as I helped him with his bandages by rolling them up. "What do you want to know?" He asked gently, leaning against his sarcophagus with a gentle smile.
I opened my backpack, it was filled with pencils, pens, my textbook, my workbook. I flipped my backpack and let everything fall out as I spread it around the cool tomb floor around me. I picked up the most important piece of paper, it required everything I had to do.
1. Compete a timeline of important events in the 'persons' life.
I had done the timeline, but I'll get Ahkmenrah to go over it with me, later. I would get what I needed first.
"Ahk?" I mutter my eyes meeting his once my eyes left the frayed single sheet of paper. "What were the most important events in your life?"
I could tell he was thinking, he lists them off with his fingers. I could see that he genuinely wanted to help me. "It's hard to honestly think about it, but... I think towards the end of my life they were most important... After Ramla's death I took the throne, it changed me, in many ways for the better. I ruled in her honour." I realised how much it hurt him to talk about her so I didn't ask anything else.
"Ahk..." I whispered, I wanted to comfort him.
"It's alright, Rey." He said with a half smile, shrugging it off with his shoulders. "It's nice talking about her."
2. Why were the 'person' important in history.
I had already done that so, it wasn't really something I had to worry about.
3. Name three interesting facts on this 'person'.
I would need some help on that one.
"Do have anything interesting about yourself that you would like to offer?"
Ahkmenrah looked like he was going to laugh. "Umm, my favourite place in the kingdom was the gardens, my favourite colour is blue, um.. uh.." I could see that he was struggling.
I smiled, "Don't worry. There's no need to pressure yourself. You've helped me out enough, on that anyway." Ahk gave his bright smile, one that I found comfort in.
4. A brief summary on the 'person,' personality, parents, siblings, children, romantic interests etc.
I had done everything, but why wasn't Ramla noted as his love interest? Did they manage keep it that secret? I brought the textbook closer to my face astounded.
I questioned asking him, I was putting him through enough pain, already... "You don't have to tell me, butβ Why isn't Ramla mentioned?"
I held out the textbook, I realised that Ahkmenrah took ages to read, perhaps he did not know how. He met my eyes and looked away. "We managed to keep our love well hidden. We were never wed and it couldn't of happened anyway..."
Ahkmenrah must of saw my confusion. "Ramla wasn't in the tomb with my parents and I, so I don't know where she is." Ahkmenraah looked at me oddly, I think he realised that wasn't what I meant. I gave a half hearted smile, but it instantly fell.
My eyes furrowed, "I don't understand, you and Ramla loved one another. Wouldn't your father and mother understood your feelings?"
Tears glistened his bright green eyes. "The world isn't always fair, Freya. It is something you must understand."
Agkmenrah got up from his position, leaning against his sarcophagus and sat under the tablet next to me. "In the end, I knew I would never love someone ever again, like I loved Ramla... but in some cases I was lucky, many in my time married at your age, sometimes younger." I gave a horrified look, I couldn't imagine it.
"In my time you marry when your older than eighteen, but most of the time later in your twenties."
"Rey." Ahkmenrah said the nickname he gave me tenderly. "It's just the way the world worked, no need to fret over it."
My eyes lowered, "Sorry."
Ahkmenrah smiled gently, "No need to be sorry. Do you have anymore questions?" I looked down at the sheet.
5. Name two things that you have learnt from this person.
I had already done that..
6. An extension is to make a family tree. Which is worth a bonus mark.
I had done that.
"Nope! Thanks for helping me!" Without thinking, I threw my arms around him and gave him a bear like hug.
Ahkmenrah smiled and gave a wink, "Next time you visit. It's my turn!"
I smiled sadly, knowing she wouldn't let me come for a while. But I would ask her anyway. "I'll try and convince my mum."
