EMMA AND CEDRIC WERE TWO PEAS IN A POD. Their parents have known each other since forever, allowing them to be friends since childhood. Even when they get to Hogwarts, they're both Sorted into Hufflepuff and one is never seen without the other. Soon enough, their professors start referring to them as Margory since it was easier to refer to them as a unit rather than individuals. 

Emma has followed Cedric all through their childhood but it was more than just out of loyalty. He's her North Star, the guiding point on her compass, the leader in all of their misadventures. He's the one that inspires her to live and more than that, he's the Captain of the ship she's sailing. In their fifth year, he becomes a genuine Captain and she goes to every Quidditch match he's in. 

As for Cedric, he begins to realize his feelings for his best friend are more than friendly during this time. Before every game, he made it a habit to scan the Hufflepuff section just to see Emma's bright smile as a sign of good luck. He hides his feelings for her because he doesn't think that she could ever feel the same way but little does he know, she does.

― I basically just picked the name Emma from thin air, so feel free to change it if you want to, but it should be something soft and pure to fit the character. I wouldn't mind 'Wendy' since Hurd-Wood did play her in the 2003 version of Peter Pan, but that might be too on the nose. 

― So this is one of my favorite tropes, childhood best friends to lovers with a ton of angst. You don't have to write all the years leading up to gof unless you want to; one or two pre-event chapters would be good with maybe some flashbacks during their fourth year. The important thing to note is the Cedric DOES die. That's why Whitman's poem fits so well-- he's the 'captain' in this case.
     ― Emma is a half-blood.

― Branching off of that, Emma is very much a follower. She'll do literally anything anyone- especially Cedric- asks of her, though Cedric tries to teach her to stand up for herself. The Hufflepuff qualities she most aligns with are loyalty, patience and especially kindness. She makes friends with a lot of people but sometimes they overuse her generosity and she has a hard time recognizing that.

― Emma and Cedric basically grew up together and saw each other almost every day since their houses were relatively close. (Think FitzSimmons from Agents of Shield; Emma is Leo and Cedric is Jemma... hence my own name mashup of 'Margory.') He sees her mostly as a little sister since she's a few months younger than him and doesn't catch feelings for her until later on. As I mentioned in the summary, he begins to realize that his feelings change when she starts attending his Quidditch matches more. Even though he's got a lot of girls congratulating him etc., he realizes that the only one whose opinion he cares about is Emma's.
      ― She's the 'person he'll miss most' in the second task of the Triwizard Tournament. He panics a little when he realizes she's not in the stands to cheer him on but it becomes obvious once he does the task.
     ― You could have him go to the Yule Ball with Cho Chang for extra angst, since maybe he's being stupid and doesn't want to admit he has feelings for his best friend. They still dance together, though, and he likes dancing with Emma even more than his own date; maybe after the ball he confesses his feelings for her. (Even though that's really cliché, but it's kind of their vibe.)

― As for Emma, she was basically love at first sight with Cedric. He's perfectly charming, perfectly wonderful and she's definitely a romantic, so it makes sense. Even when they're younger, he's still more of a gentleman than most boys his age. She's proud that she's his best friend even when he starts dating other girls, even though it hurts her. She tries not to be jealous because that's not who she is, but it's hard especially when they're as beautiful as Cho Chang.
    ― If you decide to have Cho go with Cedric to the Yule Ball, Emma probably wouldn't go with anyone since she's head-over-heels for Cedric. Besides, she wouldn't want to hurt anyone unnecessarily because she knows she has feelings for someone else.

― I don't want to go too much into the aftermath of Cedric's death since her reaction etc. would be based on the rest of the story but it's very angsty. (If you've read The Book Thief, think Liesel and Rudy.) If you'd want to stop at gof with maybe an epilogue, I'd be perfectly okay with that since it leaves the in-between time up to the imagination. 

― I'm a big fan of using song or poem lyrics as chapter titles. If you'd want to make the book a little shorter (because sometimes less is more), you could use lines from O Captain! My Captain! as the titles. 

― Feel free to use any of the graphics provided when creating the book, but make sure you credit me as the creator in addition to the plot. Also, you don't have to use all the quotes provided in the 'description + epigraph' section but I wanted to make sure I got the right vibe across. (The exception to this is that you must use Whitman's poem since that's what the plot is based off of.)
