AURORA BRIAR COULD HAVE BEEN POPULAR IF IT WERE NOT FOR HER FATAL FLAW: SHE FELL ASLEEP AT THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIMES. In the middle of a math test? Yep. Right before she was supposed catch the winning shot for basketball in gym? Check. Out shopping with her aunts and in front of Jennifer Hayes? Unfortunately.

Diagnosed with narcolepsy at a young age, high-stress and extremely emotional situations tended to make her nod off, thus making her known (mockingly) as 'Sleeping Beauty' around school. This lumped her in with the so-called 'loser' dungeons-and-dragons loving boys, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, Mike Wheeler and Will Byers. Thankfully, the last boy was the kindest and often helped her to the nurses' office before she could fall asleep somewhere uncomfortable, thus allowing them to strike up a rather companionable friendship. She eventually became friends with the other boys and earned a place in their party. The only downside was that this inclusion caused her to be roped into her best friend's disappearance and their discovery of a girl with superhero powers.

― Okay, so this plot is inspired by liminal_faces, where she takes a Disney character and adapts it to the Stranger Things universe (very different plot though, I promise!)

― My character, Aurora (Rory), is based off of Sleeping Beauty (which should be blatantly obvious.) Her powers are inspired from Mantis' in GotG, though she's not an Empath because I think that's an overrated power. Instead, she can put anything she wants to sleep (including herself. . . I'm a little jealous, lol.)

― In s1, she doesn't know much about her powers because she's been raised as a normal kid by her three aunts in the woods. (Sound familiar?) She has a bad habit of falling asleep literally everywhere, so make sure you portray that. It's because she's internalized her powers, using them on herself instead of letting them out. The doctors that she goes to when she's little (which aren't related to the ST doctors at all and are very normal ones), diagnose her with narcolepsy, which is what her powers would look like to regular people.

― While narcolepsy isn't necessarily weird, the kids at school think so and have ostracized her from the 'popular crowd,' leaving her with the main boys as her friends. By the time s1 starts, they've hung out for years so you don't have to write the getting-to-know-you stuff. Aurora is closest to Will in friendship, since he's the most patient with her sleeping habits. Dustin and Lucas are basically tied for second, but won't instinctively stay with her if she falls asleep and have to be asked/told. Will knows about her crush on Mike, and she's shier around him so they're not as close. He still cares about her, though, since they have mutual friends (and she's nice to Will where not many people are.) Mike is oblivious to her crush on him, though he does harbor a soft spot for her and will stay with her when she falls asleep, even without being asked. (Though usually one of the other boys will come and take his place before she wakes up so Aurora doesn't know this.)

― Rory is a HUGE Elvis fan (mostly inspired by the line in Free Fallin' (even though I hate that song): she's a good girl, is crazy 'bout Elvis)

― Mike DOES NOT abandon Rory for Eleven. (I think too many people use that plot already.)

― TBH I don't remember a lot of the s1 canon plot except for the second half, so that's what I'm gonna focus on. There's two main points here: the first is when the bullies have cornered Mike and Dustin near the quarry. Since Rory is there too, they get her as well. She panics when they tell Mike to step off the ledge (when they don't know Eleven is there), and that's the first time her power manifests itself: when she starts to nod off (as it is an extremely emotional situation), she thinks 'oh no, not now!' desperately, and her powers react by putting her captor to sleep. She's too shocked to realize what happened and tries to go after Mike, but the excess use of her powers puts her to sleep before she can get there. Once the bullies are taken care of, Mike worries about her since she's not really moving (but she's just asleep, like usual.)
      ― The second point is at the end of the season, before Eleven disappears. Rory still doesn't really know about her powers but when they're threatened by the Demogorgon, she acts on instinct: like when Mantis tries to put Ego to sleep in GotG2, she does the same thing and puts her hands out as she cries out 'sleep!' but since she's not very powerful (due to lack of practice), it only buys them time and Eleven is the one who finishes the Demogorgon off. Cue another long sleep by Rory.

― Before the second season, her aunts finally explain her powers to her, and how she was a part of the same program Eleven was. Her parents worked with Dr. Brenner before she was born and they thought that she would be safe from him once they had her. Unfortunately, they were wrong and Dr. Brenner (otherwise known as Maleficent) steals her from them to experiment on her. Her aunts are somehow able to rescue her from the hospital, but not before she's "cursed" with her powers. It would be kind of interesting if there was some sort of "expiration date" (like how Princess Aurora pricks her finger by her 16th birthday.) Maybe in s4 (or 5 if an opportunity presents itself), she can fall asleep at a time when they need her most and can only be woken by a "true love's kiss." (Either literally- by Mike- or figuratively.)

― I don't actually have much of an idea for how Mike and Rory become a couple, but you could go the traditional Snowball route, unless you have a better idea (which I would definitely be welcome to since the Snowball is too cliché.) But when they do get together (and even before), they're very soft with each other, at least until s3 when Mike becomes an a-hole.

― S2 and 3 kind of blend together for me, so I'll just skip right to 3. She's okay friends with Max, but they're very different; Rory is sweeter and gentler, though she does have a sarcastic side, which helps them get along. Mike can still be an a-hole for plot purposes (and angst), and like Eleven Rory doesn't really know how to stand up for herself when it comes to her (now) boyfriend. Max encourages her to be more confident and the three of them (Max, Rory and Eleven), become better friends throughout the season.
      ― Also in s3, Rory helps Eleven take down the Mind flayer by putting it to sleep, but only for seconds at a time since it's so strong. (Like how Mantis tries to put Thanos to sleep in Infinity War.)

― In s4, Mike can go with her to visit Eleven in CA since they are like sisters by this point, and he wouldn't go alone otherwise since he and Eleven aren't dating. If you do send Rory to CA, Dr. Brenner would for sure take her along with Eleven, even though her powers work just fine. Maybe he'd try to "upgrade" them or something. She'd probably be even more scared than Eleven since she doesn't remember anything about the hospital. She and Eleven join Max Vecna's mind prison world and she uses her power to put him to sleep to try to save her friend. 

― She can also help Will during s2 by putting him to sleep when he's kept up by nightmares.

― In s1, Rory starts off as someone without much of a backbone, but throughout the seasons learns to become a leader and fight for herself.

― At some point, she should be like, "I've got this." (In reference to an Upside-Down monster.) And someone who's not familiar with her power but is familiar with her (I kind of imagine Hopper being a good candidate, since he wants to protect the kids and would underestimate her abilities) should say sarcastically, "by what? Putting it to sleep?" and she replies, completely seriously, "exactly." (Or something like that.)
