Rosewood, Pennsylvania 1985
โโโโ the beginning.
"Ask her, ask her." Harrison Montgomery whispered with a chuckle as his wife turned the corner.
ย ย ย ย ย "Mom, what's a stripper?" Seven year old, Roman asked his mother as she walked into the dimly lit living room, causing his father to burst out into a laughing fit. The young boy was sitting on the old green couch between his grinning father and his two year old, half asleep sister.
"Nothing, baby." Sasha, her mother, rolled her eyes as she walked over to shut off the television. "Really, Harry? All I ask is you not watch that stuff with them around."
"What? There was nothing else to watch."
Sasha rolled her eyes again before starting the obvious as she placed some opened mail on the coffee table."Because children aren't meant to be up this late."
Harrison, stood up, stalking toward his wife with a fake pout. "I'm sorry, I won't do it again." He leaned in placing a kiss on her lips, causing her unwanted smile.
A sudden knock on the door, broke the two from their hold on each other. Sasha looked down at Roman with a smile. "It's past your bedtime, Romeo."
Harrison opened the front door while Sasha picked Genesis up from the couch. As Roman stood from the couch, he caught a glimpse of the man at the door walk in, greeting his father. He looked familiar, but he couldn't remember where he'd seen him or how long ago.
"Hey, John. What can I do for you?"
The man, John, made eye contact with the little boy as he walked past him, following his mother to his room. Closing the door behind them, Sasha placed Genesis, who was now sound asleep, in her toddler bed before placing a kiss on her forehead.
"Mama, who is John?"
Sasha walked toward Roman, sitting beside him on the bed. "John is an old friend of your fathers. His name is John Winchester. You've met him before when you were about two." she told him, pinching his cheek.
Rome giggled, before repeating the name. "John Winchester." He laid back on her pillow.
"You know, he has two little boys and one is about your age." Sasha stated as she began to tuck him in the race car comforter. "Maybe one day you can meet them, yeah?" The little boy nodded his head. "But for now, you need some sleep. Goodnight, my Romeo."
Before Roman could respond, the two heard glass shattering and grunts. The young boy couldn't make out what was happening, but by the look on his mom's face, it definitely wasn't good.
"Rome," Sasha frantically started, "I need you to stay here, okay? When I leave, I need you to lock the door and stay with your sister. Do you understand?"
Even though he couldn't tell what was going on, he nodded and did as told. As soon as his mother left the room, he got up and locked the door. He ran over and got into his sister's bed, pulling the blanket over the both of them.
"It's gonna be okay, Ginny. I promise." He mumbled to the sleeping girl. "Mom's gonna be right back."
The most terrifying thing happened next. The doorknob rattled and Roman pulled the blanket off his head, thinking her mom came back until he heard the woman scream.
Silence.
"Mommy?" Roman whispered as tears started to flow from his eyes. "Daddy?"
No answer.
The boy stood from the bed, his bare feet colliding with the ice cold floor. Every footstep was followed by a terrified breath. His hand shook as he reached out for the doorknob. The lock made a loud clicking sound in the now quiet house which made him jump but eventually twist the knob.
"Mom?"
Roman knew the woman couldn't hear him because could barely hear himself but he was beyond petrified.
"Dad?"
The walk from his room to the living room felt like a marathon. The hallway was dark and eerie, not warm and comforting like minutes just before.
As he finally reached the end of the hall, he saw that same man. John. His back was turned but as soon as he felt the boy's presence, he turned. His eyes glowed almost like headlights on a car except they were of a bright yellow hue.
Roman gasped and just like that the man was gone.
Hearing a light moan, the little boy ran over behind the couches to find his parents lying on the wooden floor drenched in both each others and their own blood. "Mommy?"
"Ro- Roman." Sasha managed to get out as she reached out for him. "My sweet boy. My Romeo. You look out for your sister."
The tears began to flood the boys eyes as he held his mother's bloody hand. "No. I can't."
"Your father and I love you two so very much."
Her weak smile caused him to cry even harder. Roman watched as her eyes slowly shut and felt as her hand went limp in his. "Mom? Mom!" He attempted to shake her awake but it was no use, he knew she was gone and there was no bringing her back.
Taking one look at his lifeless father just a few feet away, the boy stood and ran back to his room, shutting and locking the door. Roman sat by Genesis on her bed, attempting to protect her at all costs. His breath quickened and his tears continued to flow but an angered expression took over his face.
This wasn't over. This was only the beginning.

Nazareth, Pennsylvania 2005
โโโโ the present.
They say family is the one thing that will stand beside you, no matter what, but what happens when that 'family' is stripped away from you with no warning? No second thought? Who stands beside you then?
An answer Genesis Montgomery wish she knew. She thought about that question a lot for the past few months and she couldn't understand why. Why the thought of a family she didn't have clouded her mind day and night.
Ever since her brother, Roman, went missing on a case, a case she warned him not to do alone, she'd been alone which led her to the Moonlight Fury bar downtown from where she, by herself, had just finished up a small case.
Genesis stood, leaning her elbows on the honey locust wooden table as she swirled the thin straw in her glass. As the thought of her family crossed her mind, she looked up to see a random couple, one she'd seen multiple times earlier tonight, dancing. She was happy people could find a source of happiness, not knowing what darkness lurked in the shadows.
The small bar was full of drunken laughter, heightened spirits, and upbeat music. Genesis wasn't really in the mood for the bright souls in the bar, she was in one of her natural moods which meant standing by her lonesome and people watching.
Hearing the bell above the bar door chime as someone entered, she focused her attention on the person walking in. Unconsciously, the brunette stood straighter, firmly gripping the table. In walked a man with dark brown hair. He walked in with a confidence that easily captured everyone's eyes. It seemed as if the low stringing lights radiated off of his skin.
Following behind him was a much taller, shaggy haired man. He walked with his shoulders low and his gruff demeanor silenced. He looked almost as he was in pain. Sad. Heartbroken. Genesis watched as he went straight for the bar as the shorter one went to grab a booth, staring a blonde down as he did so.
The Montgomery girl kept her eyes on the taller man, not even realizing she was staring until he turned around with two beers in hand. Once she caught his eye, he gave her a short nod and continued on his way. Something about him intrigued her, it was like they were the same, made up of the same elements. The same endless pain and torment.
His heart seemed pure, broken but pure.
Meanwhile, over at the booth Dean took a small sip from his glass. His eyes trailed across the room where he took notice of the brown-skinned girl in the corner. The Winchester, nodding his head, motioned for his little brother, Sam, to look over. "Hey, check out the hot chick checking you out."
Sam slowly looked over his shoulder at Genesis, who shamelessly kept her eyes focused on him. Sam shook his head, turning back toward the table without saying a word.
"Come on," Dean said again. "You're really gonna pass that up?"
"Dean.." Sam warned. It'd only been a couple months since Jessica and he was definitely not looking to meet anyone else. "Just drop it."
Dean threw his hands up in surrender, "Okay, I'm just saying."
Genesis looked down at her phone, rereading the last text she got from Roman, 'I know you're probably pissed I left but I got a tip on John Winchester. Thought it was worth checking out. I'm sorry. I'll call you.' However he never did and that was almost three months ago. The girl chugged down the rest of her now, warm drink.
She was ready to shower, change into her satin pjs and sleep the night completely away. As her eyes glanced back over at the table, her coffee brown eyes instantly met green ones. Genesis tried to offer up a small smile to erase the awkward tension, but the boys' face remained neutral. His eyes were embedded onto hers like he was searching her soul.
Like he knew her.
And for some reason, Genesis felt like she knew him. The both of them. She just couldn't pinpoint where or how. Pulling the cash out of her back pocket, she threw it onto the table before making her escape. But not before throwing their table, yet another, glance.
Once inside of her car, she slammed the door shut, racking her brain as she drummed on the steering wheel. She wanted to figure out how she knew the boy or boys, but she couldn't. Genesis didn't even realize how long she was sat in her black 1969 Chevy Camaro until those same two boys walked out of the bar.
And that's when it clicked.
Genesis hurriedly pulled open her glove compartment, scavenging through the papers and envelopes her brother placed in there before. In was a notebook Roman used to write down all of his case notes, Genesis yanked it out of the compartment and flipped through the pages. She scoped out all of the pages including the name Winchester.
There was a page stating John Winchester's last known whereabouts but it was scratched out. Beside it was a phone number or at least what looked like one. It was missing two more numbers. Genesis ignored it and continued to flip the pages.
Winchester.
Winchester.
Winchester.
Samuel Winchester. Dean Winchester. Roman had their names circled in red pen and folded within the book was a black and white photo of, ah there it was...John and Dean Winchester.
The girl sighed in relief, leaning back onto her headrest as a smirk found its way to her lips. She looked over out of her window to see him, Dean, discard his phone into his pocket before hopping into the drivers seat of a black convertible. Genesis turned her key in the ignition and waited for them to exit the parking lot.
This was her key.
They were her key to finding her brother.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
After leaving the bar, Genesis followed the boys to a beaten down motel just off 89. She parked far enough where their room was in sight but just far enough that the boys couldn't spot that they'd been followed.
Pulling out her phone, the brunette quickly input the number of her biggest source and number one best friend. Harper Walsh. Literally heaven sent. Harper could hack any database while covering her tracks and gather information on anyone even those the FBI couldn't. She was special that way.
Ring.
Ring.
"What can I do for you on this fine night?"
"Harps, I need info," Genesis lifted the book from her lap to reread the names plaguing the page. "..on Sam and Dean Winchester."
"Those names sound familiar..." Harper hummed on the other end of the line, but nonetheless, Genesis heard her manicured fingers clicking the keys.
"Yeah, Ro wrote their names down, maybe he'd mentioned them."
"Have you heard from him yet?"
Genesis sunk down in her seat, "No. Not yet. I'm really starting to get worried."
"He'll be fine, Gen." The line went silent for a moment before Harper spoke again.
"Okay, Sam aka Samuel William Winchester. Oh, he's cute," Harper sang before slurping from the cup in her hands. "Born May 2nd, 1983 to Mary and John Winchester. Mother died when he was only an infant. Moved around a lot. Played little league baseball, excelled as a mathlete, andโ ooh, got accepted into Stanford. So, hot and smart."
Genesis smiled at the change of pitch in her tone as the girl, again, began tapped the keys. "And Dean Henry Winchester...born January 29th 1979, has been arrested a few too many times, spent time in a boys home when he was sixteen..."
For a second, it was quiet. "And?"
"And that's all." Harper told her though she sounded unsure herself. "There's really nothing here for him."
Genesis sighed, throwing the book down into the passenger seat as her eyes refocused on the motel door. "Well, thanks anyways, Harps."
"Not what you were looking for?"
"Not really, but I'll manage." The girl sighed, resting her head back on the head rest as she pinched the bridge of her nose. Until she remembered, "Wait, Harper, how did their mom die?"
"Um...house fire." Harpers chair squeaked as she twisted from screen to screen and her keys clanked. "And get this, Samโโ his girlfriend, Jessica, died in a fire that was set in their apartment. Too bad, she was drop dead gorgeous."
"When was this?"
"Just a few months ago."
"Thank you so much, Harps. Chili cheese fries and karaoke night on me."
She could practically see the grin enlarging on Harpers cheeks. "I'm definitely looking forward to it."
"I've got to go. Love you."
"Love you, first. Be safe, Gen."
Genesis placed her phone inside of the pocket of her jean jacket. Taking a look around the parking lot, the brunette exited her car, making sure not to slam the door. She pulled her pistol from the back of her waistband, pulling out the magazine to scan how many bullets were in before pushing it back and securing it right back in place.
Her eyes focused on the door of the room the Winchesters were currently in. She only had one shot at this, she couldn't screw up, for her brother's sake. As she approached the door, one foot in front of the other, something seemed off. It was too silent.
The girl turned on her heel to look behind her and check her surroundings once again. The lot was empty, parked cars sat untouched, a crushed coffee cup rolled across the ground, but there wasn't a single soul present.
That is until it hit her. But before she could move, the gun cocked and was pointed at her.
"So," Genesis slowly turned back toward the room to see that same brunette blocking her path with a revolver aimed at her eye level. "I'm guessing you're Dean."
The man didn't move a muscle, not even at hearing his name from the unknown girl. "Why are you following us? Who are you?"
"I'm looking for John."
Hearing voices outside the door, Sam opened the door to see his brother hold a gun toward the girl they'd seen earlier at the bar. His eyes widened at the sight as he stepped out of the motel room. "Dean, what the hell is going on?"
Dean looked over at his brother in question. That's where he made his mistake. As his attention turned toward his brother, Genesis yanked him by his outstretched arm, sending a knee into his groin before prying the revolver from his hand. She pointed it straight at Sam who stood in shock before pulling her pistol out from the waistband and pointing that at Dean who bent over in pain.
"Let's start over, boys, I said I'm looking for John."
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
"What do you want with our dad?" Dean asked her as he and Sam sat side by side on the edge of one of the beds in the motel room.
As Genesis leaned against the table across from them, she rolled her eyes, standing up straighter. "That's between me and him."
Dean scoffed at her answer. "So, why the hell should we tell you where he is?"
"You know, Dean, you're kind of cute...not so bright but cute." Genesis announced, raising the gun and pointing it straight at him, ignoring the fear in Sam's face. "Because if you don't tell me where he is, I'll just kill the both of you to lure him out."
The Montgomery smirked at the confusion on Deans face. His eyes instantly grew darker. Genesis had to admit, his poker face was good, but not good enough. She could see the way he gulped in fear though he probably wouldn't show it in front of his baby brother.
"Wait," Sam looked between the two confused as ever.ย He raised his brows, focusing his attention on the girl in front of them. "How do you know our dad?"
"I don't." Genesis stated. She stood and lowered the gun, running the tip of the revolver delicately across the table. "It's not like we're best friends on Facebook. I known of him."
"Don't tell me," Dean let out a short laugh before rolling his eyes. "You're just a fan who wants to meet him."
"God, no." Genesis cringed at the thought. If he'd done what she thought he'd done, she wouldn't even dare speak his name. But her brother was missing so here she was. "He has something that belongs to me."
"And what's that?" Dean eyed her, ignoring the way she kept taunting them with the ways she moved the gun lightly around her finger. "Your etiquette?"
"My brother."
"What are you talking about?"
Her eyes locked in on Sam. She could tell he was the reasonable one, the brother more willing to listen. "My brother and I have been looking for John for years," she rolls her eyes, remembering waking up the next morning to find him gone. "And suddenly, one night he gets a hit on John's whereabouts and leaves. I haven't seen him since."
Dean scoffed, crossing his arms. "Well maybe he left because he wasn't a big fan of your attitude."
"Dean." Sam called out, shaking his head. He wanted to hear her story and make sure they all made it out alive. So he turned his undivided attention back toward her. "What makes you think our dad has him?"
"Because I know Roman." Sam could see the fear in her eyes. She really believed something had happened to him. "He would've reached out by now."
"How long ago was this?"
"It's been almost three months." Deans eyes widened as he and his brother looked over at each other. Genesis took a step closer toward them, carefully searching their eyes for any clues. "What was that look for?"
Sam shortly glanced over at her before dropping his head. "That's right around the time our dad went missing."
"You said you were looking for him before this." Dean dropped his hands into his lap as his angered expression returned, though Genesis could care less. "Why?"
Genesis hesitated, glancing between the both of them before answering, "Because he killed my parents..." The girl shrugged her shoulders, looking down at the ground, "Or, at least, that's what Roman thinks."
Sam's eyes widened. "What?"
"No, you've got the wrong guy." Deans brows furrowed as if he couldn't believe his father was capable. He soon realized that if Roman went after John, he could have hurt him or worse. "If your brother touches our dad, he's dead!"
"Oh, yeah? If he touches my brother, the both of you are dead!" Genesis shouted back at him, taking yet another step toward them. The fury in their eyes turned even darker as they glared at each other. This was a dangerous game, one wrong move and everything was done for.
Dean stood up, attempting to make a run for his duffle bag, but Genesis was quicker. Her hand whipped around to her waistband before pulling out her pistol and pointing it over at Sam. "Move and this bullet will be in and out of his skull before you even make it to the other side of the room," she threatened, pointing the revolver at Dean who stopped dead in his tracks as Sam threw his hands up in surrender. "don't test me."
Sam slowly stood to his feet, hands still in the air, trying to de-escalate the situation. "Okay, okay, wait. Let's all calm down." With the tip of the revolver, Genesis motioned for Dean to sit back down. Which he and Sam both did but not without cursing under his breath. Sam ignored his brother's dramatics and continued, "You, uh, you said that's what Roman thinks, you don't think he did it?"
"I don't know what to think. I was super young when it happened." She stated as if it was completely obvious. She slowly but surely lowered both guns, holding them firmly at her sides. "But Roman swears that's who he saw that night and I trust him."
"Yeah, well, maybe you shouldn't."
Sam glared at his older brother before asking a question they should have asked before. "What's your name?"
"Genesis."
"Genesis." Dean repeated as he stared straight ahead at her. "Where have I heard that name before?"
"The Bible." Genesis answered sarcastically.
"Very funny." The older Winchester rolled his eyes giving her fake smile before repeating the name again. "Genesis. Genesis." Sam and Genesis watched him carefully, waiting to see where this was going. Then it hit him. "You're not related to Sasha and Harrison by chance, are you?"
The Montgomery took a step forward in shock that he knew those names. "They're my parents." Dean let out an exasperated sigh as he shook his head. Both his brother and the threat across from them observed in confusion.
Sam with furrowed brows asked, "Dean, what?"
"Dad used to talk about this girl, Genesis, and her brother but he could never find them." Dean informed them, thinking back to all the times he would overhear his dad on the phone asking about these two kids. He never understood why he was looking for them but never asked. "He and, uh, Harrison were old hunting buddies."
Genesis took in his words before being consumed with anger all over again. "Before he killed him."
"He didn't-" Dean stopped himself before he stood up again. "My dad didn't kill your parents."
"Then who did!"
"I don't know!"
Sam slowly stood up, once again, not wanting to be back at square one, taking a small step in between them. "Look, we want to help you," he told her with compassion in his eyes, motioning between himself and his hotheaded brother. "we're just not sure how we can do that."
"You can start by telling me where John is?"
Dean rolled his eyes, "We don't know!"
Genesis looked away from the both of them, taking a deep breath. She couldn't believe she still wasn't a step closer to finding her brother than she was three months ago. "I'm sorry." Her eyes began to water as she shook her head in disbelief. "I just don't want to be alone anymore." The boys cautiously looked at each other before looking back at the girl.
Quickly wiping the fallen tear from her cheek, Genesis flipped the revolver around in her hand, holding it out to Dean handle first. He stared at her in shock, before slowly pulling it back from her. He looked over at Sam who stared at the girl in pain. He could see the pain written all over her face and all he wanted to do was help her.
"Okay, maybe if we find our dad, we find Roman." Sam told her as she lifted her head back up. "Hey, they might even be together." He added, attempting to bring some light into the situation as he took another step toward her. His voice then lowered, "But you have to trust us."
Genesis' eyes trailed over to Dean, waiting for his disapproval over Sam's suggestion. But he just looked back at her with a calmer expression. His eyes were softer than earlier and they were staring straight into her, waiting for her answer. "Okay."
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
After her little chat with the Winchesters, Genesis returned back to her car, leaning against the driver door with her phone in her hand. She couldn't trust the boys...she just couldn't. So, she dialed the number of the only boy she could trust.
Ring.
Ring.
"It's Ro. You know what to do." Genesis shut her eyes at the fact that her call went to voicemail. She couldn't do this anymore. She hadn't been on her own in four years and it just became a big reminder of everything she went through growing up.
"Roman, you have to call me back. It's been months. And I don't know what I'm doing right now." The girl wiped yet another tear. She hated being so weak. "I'm with the Winchesters, they're looking for John, too. They think maybe you guys are together. And if that's the case, okay, whatever. Just let me know that you're safe. Please."
Hanging up the phone and taking a deep breath, she looked back over at the motel room she'd just exited. She was internally debating getting in her car and continuing the search by herself or staying and actually taking up their offer.
Her trust issues would get the best of her, she knew that. But maybe, just maybe, it wouldn't.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
As Dean began to pack his bags, he looked up at Sam who stood across the room. "I don't trust her, Sam."
"Look, Dean, she said it herself, she's alone. If dad knew her parents, he'd know what to do." Sam folded his arms, staring straight at his brother who rolled his eyes, "And if he and Roman are together, it means he didn't do it. She just needs to see that."
Dean dropped the duffle bag onto the bed, "Why are you defending her? You hardly know the chick."
Sam relaxed his arms, taking a step closer to his brother, "Because, Dean, I know what it's like to be on your own for the first time." Dean stared at his brother, regretting bringing it up. "She's probably scared and she already lost both parents."
"So, what?" Dean motioned between the two of them," We're babysitting, now?"
"We're just helping each other out." Sam shrugged, trying to convince his older brother who, irritatedly walked toward the window, that this was the best thing. "Okay? When we find them, we go our separate ways."
"Yeah, yeah.." Dean mumbled as he reached the window. He pushed back the curtain and lifted up one of the blinds to check on the girl. His eyes scanned the parking lot, "Uh, Sammy."
"What?" Sam walked over toward the window, doing the same as his brother, searching for the girl. But she was gone. Her car was gone. Dean looked at his little brother who stared back at him. They had to find their dad before she did.
