The revengers !
CHAPTER FOUR
iv. THE REVENGERS !
AS SOON AS BRUCE WAS CLOTHED, THE FOUR MADE THEIR way through the crowded streets of Sakaar. The people were outside, celebrating the lost Champion as the Grandmaster had told them too.
Thor was with his old friend, a hand on his shoulder as he constantly repeat the scentence, "The sun is getting low."
At some point Freya rolled her eyes at the blond man, stepping into his way, "Why is the sun getting really low?"
Thor lookd at her with a plain face expression, "It's just a thing."
Bruce sat down on the ground and Thor joined him, repeating the scentence again. "Would you stop saying that?", Bruce then questioned him annoyed.
"I just need you to stay calm", the God explained his behavior to him. "Calm?! I'm on an alien Planet!"
"It's just a planet. You've been on a planet before", the God of Thunder simply shrugged as he let his gaze wander over the crowd.
"Yeah, one!", Bruce exclaimed everything else than calm.
Thor tried to smile, "Now you've been on two. That's a good thing. It's a new experience."
Bruce widened his eyes as he push his hands through his hair, "My neurons, they're firing faster than my brain can handle the information. The whole thing is totally different this time. In the past, I always felt like Hulk and I each had a hand on the wheel. But this time it feels like he has the keys and the car and I was locked in the trunk."
"All right, well, you're back now. That's all that matters", Thor assured him to keep him calm. "No, it's not heat matters. What matters if when I turn into the Hulk again Banner may never come back. And we're stranded on a planet that is designed to stress me out!"
Freya and Sierra both had a bit compassion with the man and soonly the dark haired woman spoke up, "No worry, Banner. We will bring you out of here."
The man's gaze fell onto the woman, who had just spoke and Thor nodded in agreement, "We're gonna figure out a way to get home."
"Oh, thank you", Banner sighed heavily and Thor gave him a worried look, "Not you're home, though. My home. Asgard."
"What?"
"Listen, my people are in great danger. They, you and I, we have to fight a really powerful being, who also happens to be my sister."
Bruce shook his head at him as he pointed first at Thor and at himself, "That is so wrong on so many- I don't wanna fight your sister. That's a family issue."
"Oh, no. It's okay. She's an evil being", Sierra shrugged at the man and tried to assure him.
The man eyed her for a small second and then answered, "I don't care what she is. I'm not fighting anymore beings. I'm sick of it. I just told you guys, if I turn into the Hulk, I may never come back."
His gaze fell onto Thor again before he realized, "And you do care!"
"No, no I'm putting together a team. The Hulk is the fire." Thor pumped his fist into the air to emphasize his words.
Banner suddenly realized, "Wait, you're just using me to get to the Hulk. That's gross."
Thor immediately argue at him that that was not what he intended to do, but Banner shook his head, "You don't care about me. You're not my friend."
"No, I don't even like the Hulk. He's all like Smash, Smash, Smash. I prefer you" He pointed at Bruce and smiled.
"Thanks."
"But, if I'm being honest, when it comes to fighting evil beings, he is very powerful." Thor gave Bruce a confident look.
Bruce seemed pretty annoyed, "Yeah, Banner's powerful and useful, too." Thor seemed sceptical while he questioned in a high pinched voice, "Is he thought?"
"How many PhDs does Hulk have? Zero! How many PhDs does Banner have? Seven!", the man still argued with him and Thor sighed defeated.
"Fine, you don't have to fight anymore", Thor gave finally in. Freya let her gaze wander around their surroundings before she finally interrupted the two. "I'm sorry to interrupt you two but we're in danger here, so we have to move."
Thor immediately stood up and grabbed a long scarf. "What are you doing with that?"
"I need a disguise. I'm a fugitive", Thor stated as he wrapped the scarf around his face. "I need a disguise", Banner suddenly murmured under his breath.
"You are the disguise."
The man ignored the God, pulling out weird looking glasses, "I'll be Tony Stark."
"What is a Tony Stark?", Freya questioned interisted, her brows furrowed in confusion. The man just ignored her, continuing their, to her very confusing conversation.
"What?", Thor frowned at Banner. "Yeah. Tony and the Gypsy", Bruce nodded his head. Thor shook his head, "No, no, you're not Tony Stark. You're Bruce. Bruce Banner."
Bruce pointed at himself, a questioning look on his face. "Then why did you dress me up like Tony?" Thor seemed a bit take back, "Uh, because you were naked."
Bruce seemed to consider the God's words for a moment, "Okay, I'll give you that."
The man suddenly started pulling on his pants and Thor seemed to grow annoyed again. "What are you doing? Stop doing that!"
"Tony wears his pants superfight", Bruce whined while he pulled on the pants again. Thor shoved his hand to the side, "Stop it!"
"Sorry!"
"Why are you being so weird?"
"I don't know! Maybe the fact that I was trapped for two years inside of a monster made me a little weird", Bruce exclaimed loudly while green veins made their way across his face.
Thor placed his hands on his shoulders and smiled awkwardly, "Hey, shh. It's okay. You're good. Calm down."
He lead Bruce away from the building they had just sat on, "Come on."
The group continued their way, while Thor explained further, "Listen, we're gonna go to Asgard and you're not gonna have to think about the Hulk ever again. All right?"
"All right", Bruce nodded his head before suddenly a green powder exploded in his face.
Just then the four realized that there was a large parade going through the city for the disappeared green Champion.
The people were throwing around green powder, jumping, dancing and chanting happyly.
"Oh, this is bad."
Freya gazed over her shoulder, spotting one of the Grandmasters guards down the street.
Her eyes widened, "We should get going." Thor's gaze snapped to the place we're Banner had just stood, but he was gone.
"Banner! Banner!"
The three fought their way through the jumping crowd, shouting for Banner. They followed the flow of the crowd down some stairs before they finally spotted Banner in the crowd.
The man seemed completely lost as he finally heard their screams, looking up to them he screamed, "Thor!"
The man walked backwards, accidentally bumping into a large creature behind him. The creature let out a deep growl, building up infront of the little man.
Suddenly electricity went off and the creature fell unconcussioned to the side, revealing Brunhilde, who had both hands placed on her hips.
"Hi."
"Hi."
Thor pointed at the creature on the ground, "I was gonna do that." Brunhilde shrugged unimpressed, "Yeah, well, I did it first."
"That's good. What are you doing here?", Thor questioned her sceptical while Freya and Sierra stayed in the background, observing the conversation.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were leaving", the Valkyrie shot back at him immediately. "I got sidetracked."
The woman's eyes traveled to Thor's scarf, "What's with the-" She pointed to it.
"It's my disguise."
"But I can see your face", Brunhilde stated as she frowned. Thor covered his face with the scarf, "Not when I do this, you can't."
Brunhilde's gaze then moved towards Sierra, who didn't knew what to say. The blond took a couple of awkward steps forward, putting on a smile, "You're hair looks nice. I like what you did with it."
Freya gave Brunhilde a look as she smirked, "Yeah, washed it maybe?"
The Valkyrie smirked a bit before she spun around and walked away from them, nodding with her head into the direction she continued walking to.
The group followed after her hesitantly. "What's that on her face? Are those the people that she's killed? She's so beautiful and strong and courageous."
Brunhilde snapped at them annoyed, "Who is this guy!?"
"He's a friend."
"Who? Me?", Bruce questioned them confused. "I feel like I know you", Brunhilde stated before she continued to lead them further.
"I feel like I know you too", Bruce agreed with her.
Following the Valkyrie down the small corridor Freya eyed the back of the brunette woman. She wasn't sure if the Valkyrie was really on their side. By all means, she could be leading them right into a trap.
Freya and Sierra exchanged a look before they were interrupted by Brunhilde stopping right in front of them. "Look, I've spent years in a haze, trying to forget my past. Sakaar seemed like the best place to drink and forget, and to die one day."
Thor nodded his head at her, "Well, I was thinking that you drink too much, and that probably was gonna kill you."
"I don't plan to stop drinking." The Valkyrie stated simply as she looked at the blond God. Thor frowned at her, "Oh."
The Valkyrie continued, completely ignoring Thor. "But I don't wanna forget. I can't turn away anymore- so if I'm gonna die, well- it may as well be driving my sword through the heart of that murderous hag."
"Good."
"Yeah."
Brunhilde looked at them as if she was expecting something to happen. The woman eyed them, "So, I'm saying that I wanna be on the team. Has it got a name?"
"Yeah. It's called the Re- Revengers", Thor told her, seeming a bit unsure about the name.
Freya gave him a side eye as she scoffed quietly to herself. Brunhilde frowned at him, "Revengers?"
"Because I'm getting revenge. You're getting revenge", Thor explained to her before he looked over at Bruce. "And you- do you want revenge?"
Bruce gave him a confused look, "I'm- I'm un- undecided." Sierra watched the short man besides her, with an amused smirk on her lips.
Thor then looked at the two cousins and Freya just shrugged, "I like revenge." Sierra nodded agreeing, "Let's do it."
"Also, I've got a peace offering", Brunhilde caught their attention once more. The brunette turned to open the door, and when the metal parted for them, no other than Loki came into their sighed.
He was sitting on the floor, a large metal chaine around him. "Surprise."
The group entered the room slowly, all eyes were still on Loki. Thor quickly grabbed a cup from the table beside him and threw it against Loki's head. The cup fell to the floor and Loki gave him a dark look, "Ow."
"Just to be sure", Thor answered his brother with a sceptical face expression before he joined Brunhilde.
Loki's attention then moved to the other man, "Hello, Bruce."
"So, last time I saw you, you were trying to kill everybody. Where are you at these days?", the man questioned the God, while he came to a stand in front of him.
Loki still had the serious look on his face, while he stared up at the man, "It varies from moment to moment."
Bruce's eyes widened in shock before he quickly hurried after Thor.
Freya just went to join them, not acknowledging Loki's presents while Sierra remained standing by the door, eyeing him. "I'm not even gonna ask why you did it", she stated, referring to his death.
Loki held eye contact with her, not showing any sign of guilt in his face expression. Sierra sighed deeply as she walked into the room, "It will always be that damned Throne you long for."
The white haired woman then heard Brunhilde's voice, "So, Sakaar ans Asgard are about as far apart as any two known systems. Our best bet is a wormhole just outside of city limits. Refuel on Xandar, and we can be back in Asgard in 18 months."
"Nope. We're going through the big one", Thor states as he pointed with the sword of the Valkyrie towards the large Gateway right in front of their window.
Sierra's eyes widened immediately, "The devil's Anus? Are you insane?"
Bruce immediate joined them, "Anus? Wait, wait, wait, who's anus?" Thor turned to make eye contact with the still confused Bruce, "For the record, I didn't know it was called that when I picked it."
The human man approached the window and pointed at the Gateway, "That looks like a collapsing neutron star inside of an Einstein-Rosen bridge."
"We need another ship. That would tear mine to pieces", the Valkyrie stated as she took a sip from a bottle. Freya crossed her arms over her chest, "She's right. We need one that can withstand the geodetic strain from the singularity."
"And has an offline power steering system, that could also function without the on-board computer", Bruce joined in. Brunhilde gave them a smile, "And we need one with cup holders, because we're gonna die. So, drinks!"
Bruce gave her a deep frown, "Do I know you!? I fell like I know you." The Valkyrie laughed to herself as she pointed at him, "I feel like I know you too. It's weird."
The brunette disappeared and Thor looked at Bruce, "What do you say? Uncharted metagalactic travel through a volatile cosmic gateway. Talk about adventure." Bruce high-fived Thor, who wanted to give him a fist bump and smiled, "We need a ship!'
"There are one or two ships. Absolute top line models-", Brunhilde informed them, while drinking once more.
"I don't mean to impose-", Loki interrupted the woman, who threw her bottle aggressively against the wall right besides him.
There was a moment of silence befor he continued. "But, uh, the Grandmaster has a great many ships. I may even have stolen the access codes to his security system", Loki had a smirk plastered on his face.
The Valkyrie gave him a death stare, as she placed her hands on her hips. "And suddenly you're overcome with an urge to do the right thing."
"Heavens, no. I've run out of favor with the Grandmaster and in exchange for codes and access to a ship I'm asking for safe passage through the anus."
Thor seeemed sceptical, which was good in Freya's opinion. After all, Loki was a lair. "You're telling us that you can't get us access into the garage without setting off any alarms?"
"Yes, brother. I can", the dark haired God answered him annoyed. Bruce immediately jumped in, "Okay, can I just- a quick FYI."
They stood in a circle, all looking at Bruce. "I was just talking to him just couple minutes ago and he was totally ready to kill any of us."
"He did try to kill me", the Valkyrie stated as she exchange a look with Thor. The blond God nodded, "Yes, me too. On many, many occasions. There was one time when we were children- he transformed himself into a snake, and he knows I love snakes. So, I went to pick up the snake to admire it- and he transformed back into himself and he was-"
Thor began screaming, "Yeah, it's me!" He go quiet again and continued telling his story. "And he stabbed me. We were eight at the time."
Sierra chuckled a bit, her eyes widening, "Oh, I remember that." They all looked over at Loki in union, who smiled to himself, looking at the ground.
"If we were boosting a ship we're gonna need to draw some guards away from the palace", Freya stated. "Why not set the beast free?", Loki suddenly questioned.
Thor immediately shot him a glare, "Shh. Shut up!"
"You guys have a beast?", The Valkyrie immediately questioned the God excited. Bruce and Thor answered I'm union, "No there's no beast."
"He's just being stupid. We're gonna start a revolution", Thor said. Bruce gave him a concerned look, "Revolution?"
Thor waved him off, "I'll explain later."
Brunhilde's gaze wandered from Bruce to Thor, "Who's this guy again?"
"I'll explain later."
