(Y/N) takes a deep breath in, her nose crinkling due to the overwhelming stench of chlorine pouring off of the Samazeka swimming center. She moves past a few boys climbing out the pool, and slowly unzips her tracksuit jacket as she catches sight of her friends.

Gลu is the first to spot her, and beams before pushing past Makoto, who was in the middle of a conversation with the red head, and leaps into her best friend's arms.

The (H/C) girl chuckles into the crook of her friend's neck, and gently lifts her up and squeezing her waist. "I missed you too Gลu." At this point the shorter of the two had come to terms with her friend's mispronouncing of her name (mostly because it was (Y/N)).

Gently setting her down, (Y/N) looks up and raises a brow at Makoto, Nagisa, Rei and Haru, all of whom were watching the two with small smiles on their faces, safe for the black haired teen who simply gave a nod in recognition.

She scans all of them from head to toe and smiles. "And a hello to all of you." She nods to them all, and grunts when Nagisa jumps at the opportunity to wrap his arms around her neck and pulls her down to his level, his cheek smushed against her own.

Looking up and signaling for help, she almost chokes before sighing in relief as Makoto gently pulls the blond off of her. She chuckles before looking around and rubbing her neck. "Sure seems a bit excessive don't you think?"

Makoto hums and stands beside her, his fingers twitching towards her own before he jumps and turns as another voice cuts through the air. "Samazeka tradition, we swim the hundred meter until one of us beats the captain." Quickly turning her head, (Y/N)'s eyes widen when she sees a certain red head.

"Rin." She mumbles with a smile, and moves away from Makoto to bump her fist with her taller friend. Rin returns her smile. "Long time no see."

She raises a brow. "It was only a few weeks, I was busy." He responds with a shrug. "A few weeks and you haven't grown an inch."

(Y/N) chuckles sarcastically with a twitch of her brow. She goes to speak but sighs and gently bumps her elbow into his stomach before stepping aside and allowing him to greet the rest of the team.

"Did we miss your race?" Nagisa asks, to which Rin shakes his head and leans against his right leg so his elbow would remain gently grazing the side of (Y/N)'s arm.

Rei finally speaks up, his dark purple towel wrapped around his left arm as he scratches his head. "Not to be the naysayer but exhausting yourselves like this stretches me as a little irrational.."

"Yeah, well 'irrational' isn't Coach Mikoshiba's MO." His friends chuckle, and look up when they see the man of the hour, Seijuro, hop out of the pool with a beaming grin on his face.

"You decided to show up huh? Dive in! For old times sake!" He offers them with cheer, and (Y/N) doesn't miss the way his eyes would constantly shift between the group and their short manager.

The boys are quick to turn down his offer, but he refuses. "Screw that, four hundred meter free style, Iwatobi versus Samazeka all or nothing!" He turns his attention to (Y/N). "And why not, Rin, your girlfriend can join too."

Both teens send the orange haired male identical glares, and (Y/N) rolls her eyes. "Thanks but no thanks, I'll just observe if you don't mind." She doesn't catch Rin's raised brow and feels his stare. Seijuro, however, ignores her and shrugs his shoulders.

"I mean, I guess you're right, you wouldn't be able to beat my time anyhow." Stretching his arms above his head, he smirks when he looks back and sees a burning glare being sent his way.

(Y/N)'s glare hardens, and she rips her jacket off her shoulders and throws it at him. "Fine." She grumbles. "But don't go crying when I kick your ass." The group feel their jaws go slack when they see she had hidden her costume underneath her clothes, and they all sigh.

"Just like Haru." Nagisa snorts, and nudges his shoulder against a stunned Haru, whose eyes roamed around his friend's costume, and looks away with a cough when he feels his face begin to warm.

The next ten minutes were spent setting up teams, and unsurprisingly the Iwatobi boys were prepared for such an occasion. Safe for Rei who was forced into a rather small Speedo offered by Nitori, the small silver haired boy from Samazeka.

(Y/N) rolls her shoulders and breaths in deep, her hair pulled up into a bun and shoved underneath a black cap. She feels a small tap and looks up to see Seijuro looking down at her.

"Why don't you and I race? Since you seem so confident in beating me." He smirks down at her, and the sound of the first swimmers, that being Makoto and another swimmer, jump into the water.

(Y/N) scoffs at him and folds her arms, "You want to race me so Gลu will start paying attention to you, is that it?" She smiles when she hears him choke on his spit, and chuckles as Nagisa and Nitori step up the platform before jumping into.

Shaking her head she prepares to step up. "Just so you know, girls aren't really attracted to guys who try to hard." She steps up the platform and pulls her goggles down. "Might be time to change your approach, Captain."

Seijuro blushes, hard, and makes a 'tsk' sound before jerking his head back to face Rin. "Bring it home for us Matsuoka." Rin watches him for a moment before shifting his gaze to the side, and trails his eyes along the curve of (Y/N)'s spine.

"..you got it sir." He mumbles half listening, and feels Haru's gaze on him, causing him to turn to the side in embarrassment.

The two bend down, and (Y/N) sucks in a deep breath before leaping off the platform. The water hits her face, and her cheeks sting as she moves through the water. It had been a while since she swam against someone, let alone someone as hectic as Seijuro Mikoshiba.

She hears the screams of her friend's every time she moves her face up for air, and feels a small smile crawl onto her lips as she closes the gap between them. Flinging her arms out once more, her heart stops as a burning sensation makes its way from her shoulder all the way down to her elbow.

She falters and chokes on a big gulp of water. The sensation started off slow, but grows unbearable as it began to grow into a harsh stinging pain. She was only halfway now, and pushes herself further, quicker without care as she could practically feel her heartbeat in her arm.

Finally smacking her hand against the wall, she springs out of the pool and grips her shoulder tight. Her breathing comes out shallow. She was practically stunned. What the hell was that? And why did it hurt so much? The pain seems to slowly become a dull ache, and (Y/N) groans as she pulls herself to her feet.

She lost, but she doesn't care, and looks up when her friend's approach her, seeming to not notice her pained expression. Slowly she lets go of her shoulder and puts on a tight smile.

"Aw man!" Nagisa cries. "You were so close! What happened?" He questions, and Makoto gives her a small smile, silently telling her that it was alright. His smile however, falters as he sees her tight lipped smile, and opens his mouth to speak before getting interrupted.

"Oh well, better luck next time, hey?" Seijuro speaks up, his expression genuine as he reaches out and grabs her hand to shake. He looks up, surprised when she smacks his hand away by the pain of moving her limb, and gives him an apologetic expression.

"Don't kid yourself, you giant orangutan." She jokes through gritted teeth, and slowly moves away to a smiling Gลu and Miss A.

Makoto, Nagisa and Seijuro watch her leave. "Uhm, is she okay?" The Samazeka captain questions with genuine worry, to which he receives no answer.

Makoto watches as (Y/N) gives Gลu a side hug, and makes a mental note to the fact that she was shielding the right side of her body from any physical contact.

_____

The day had ended with Samazeka beating Iwatobi by a long shot, but no ill feelings were expressed. Everyone had fun, safe for a certain (H/C) girl who was silently making her way home.

Rin had been dubbed captain since Seijuro would be leaving, and as far as (Y/N) could see, he wasn't particularly happy to be given the title. She didn't say anything however, and congratulated him with a small smile.

The trudge home was spent contemplating whether or not she would discuss the pain in her arm with her mother. Unsure of what exactly happened, (Y/N) gently brings her arm up and tries to stretch her right hand into the air.

Breathing in deep, she groans as the pain comes back, and gasps as her shoulder almost collapses in on itself. Her arm flails and smacks against her side, and she wastes no time in rushing home, her body practically shaking.

Opening the door to her home she makes her way through until she comes to the kitchen. Noticing her mother on the phone, (Y/N) waits patiently, her parent having yet to notice her.

(M/N) was nodding along to whatever the person on the other end was saying. "Mhm, yeah she's almost done with high-school..she's started swimming again..I know!" Her mother laughs as she talks, practically beaming.

"She's so happy, the happiest I've seen in a long time..yeah..yeah of course I'm happy." She sighs softly, her smile softening. "Imagine if she makes it to the Olympics, I'd call myself the luckiest mom on earth." (Y/N) takes a step back as she listens, her breathing having calmed down.

She leaves the kitchen with a sigh and makes her way upstairs to her room. Trying to roll her shoulder over and over, (Y/N) groans and flops down onto her bed. She feels Moomoo crawl from his spot on the floor to settle in next to her head.

Closing her eyes, she ignores the pain, and mentally scolds herself. It's just a one time thing, it's not that big a deal, your mother is proud of you..

She shoves her face into her pillow and sighs, hopefully by tomorrow the pain will go away. Hopefully by tomorrow, this feeling would have disappeared.
