𝓐 quiet hum left the woman's lips as she trailed her finger tips against the leaves of the beach around her. Coming to a halt she stared up at the sunset filled sky, her doe eyes held sadness, grief. She sat on the sandy floor and wrapped her arms around her knees starring up at the sky. Tears fell from her eyes as she hugged the henley close to her petite body.

"Though I wish he were here instead, don't want that living in your head. He just comes to visit me, when I'm dreaming every now and then . . ." Her voice wavered as she hiccuped and sniffed. "I miss you." She said just above a whisper.

She glanced down to her ringed finger, "All of you." Rubbing at her button nose she continued, "I-I don't know what do without any of you he-here." Shutting her eyes, memories of the war flashed before her eyes, Kai's bloodied face, Alana and Kairi Merlin, Caspar Naia, the Bardo family, Delphine, her people, the people from Wakanda, everyone - was gone. And there was nothing she could do about it.

"I don't even know how to take care of myself." She shook her head, "I thought I could - I could save everyone. Or at least help, that's all I ever wanted to do-" She sobbed, "-was help and I couldn't even do that right." Shaking her head she looked down, "I don't know where the Trident is." She shrugged.

"I know I have to be strong." She nodded to herself, "I have to be strong for them." She rubbed at her nose roughly, "At least I can help everyone that's left. Because that's what I'm supposed to do. It's what I have to do."

Pulling on the distressed sleeves of the red henley she rubbed her under eyes and stood up onto her bare feet.

𝓣hree full weeks had gone by and nothing. The fallen who had turned to dust, were gone. The city of Atlantica was no longer the same, the sky lacked it's usually bright and pastel like tones. The remaining citizens from the five kingdoms lacked their bright eyes and bashful smiles. And for good reason.

Poseidon and Marina had helped around the city, as did Melody to their surprise. It wasn't as if they denied their queen's strength, but for her to not only lose her family, friends, she lost her kingdom and their future king. It was no secret James Buchanan Barnes would have ruled by her side, Poseidon and Caspar had gone as far as to bet on how long it'd be until then.

They all lost someone. They lost everyone.

She had hope, somewhere inside of her. Something was giving her the strength she needed.

She was still attached to the kingdom - in a way her soul is what kept it going alongside the previous rulers. Only her hope was slightly diminishing when she would visit the shore and stare up into the sky at night hoping she'd see something, or anything.

And idea or plan would pop into her head, but to avail - nothing. She hadn't a clue on what to do.

That was until Steve Rogers showed up at the gates of Atlantica one night with Natasha Romanoff with some good news.

Poseidon made his way to the gates where Finn Cove stood eyeing the two, his sword unscathed and aimed towards them with a prominent glare.

A whistle left his lips signalling Finn to halt. The brunette looked over to Poseidon who nodded to him then to the two heroes. He quickly made his way to the castle calling for both women to come out.

Upon seeing the tired face of Steve Rogers Melody shook her head, tears began to pool from her eyes, as she ran over to the blonde man who welcomed her in tightly.

Natasha smiled sadly at the two as she was also welcomed in by a bone crushing hug from the petite girl.

"Anything?" She sniffled pulling away from the blonde woman.

"Tony is alive." Steve said. Melody smiled brightly, "W-we need you." He said hesitantly seeing her smile turn to a look of confusion.

Melody looked back to Poseidon and Finn then to Marina who nodded to her.

"We'll watch over." Poseidon pointed between him and his brother in law.

"Let's go." She stated as the four exited the kingdom.

"𝓘t's been 23 days since Thanos came to Earth." Rhodey announced.

"World governments are in pieces. The parts that are still working are trying to take a census, And it looks like he did . . . He did exactly what he said he was gonna do." Natasha explained to the group.

Melody glanced to the new women in the room, she hadn't seen either of them before. She was briefly told by Bruce they were from space like Thor, which automatically gave her interest into the two as she stared at them in awe.

Nebula shifted uncomfortably under the blonde's gaze, where as Carol smirked to the girl and sent a wink her way instantly making Melody giggle and smile. Marina nudged the blonde as she stood behind her nodding for her to pay attention.

"Hey, pay attention." Rhodey nodded to Melody who pouted crossing her arms over her chest bringing her legs under her chin. Tony rose a brow her way instantly making her adjust her posture earning a nod of approval from the man.

She glanced to Rocket Racoon another new face to the group, she made a mental note to speak to the adorable creature later on.

"As I was saying, Thanos wiped out . . . fifty percent of all living creatures." Natasha finished as they stared at the screen that showcased the fallen.

"Where is he now?" Marina inquired, glancing down to Melody who was heavily trying to keep herself occupied keeping her mind and attention away from the screens ahead of her but once she saw the faces of her father and Bucky she looked down toying the sleeve of the burgundy henley she wore.

She knew with the lack of the Trident her power would slowly grow, and without Ronan or Callisto there it would only get worse in time. And this was something none of them ever thought to occur, and yet here they were.

Tony pointed to Melody then looked to Steve who sighed looking down, "We don't know. He just opened a portal and walked through."

"What's wrong with him?" Tony turned and looked to Thor who sat alone in a separate room, his head in his hands.

"He's pissed. He thinks he failed. Which of course he did, but there's alot of that goin' around, ain't there?" Rocket explained.

"Honestly, at this exact second, I thought you were a Build-A-Bear." Tony said looking to the racoon.

"Maybe I am."

Melody frowned, "We all failed." She muttered.

Tony looked down as did the rest of the group upon her words.

"We've been hunting Thanos for three weeks now. Deep space scans, and satellites, and we got nothing . . . Tony you fought him." Steve nodded to Iron Man who looked at him in disbelief.

"Who told you that?" He asked as everyone looked to him now, "I didn't fight him. No. He wiped my face with a planet while a Bleecker Street magician gave away the stone. That's what happened. There was no fight . . ."

"Okay. Did he give you any clues? Any coordinates, anything?" Steve asked keeping his calm state for the sake of the group, trying to get something.

Tony placed his fingertips against his temple and imitated an explosion, "Pfft! I saw this coming a few years back."

Natasha sighed out in annoyance as Steve looked away in frustration.

"I had a vision. I didn't wanna believe it. Thought I was dreaming-"

"Tony I'm gonna need you to focus." Steve pleaded.

"And I needed you. As in past tense." Tony remarked harshly, "That trumps what you need. It's too late, buddy. Sorry." Steve's jaw ticked at the man. "You know what I need? I need to shave. And I believe I remember telling-" He stood up and removed his IV from his arms.

"Tony, Tony, Tony . . ." Rhodey spoke up.

Melody placed her hands on her ears not liking when the two men would argue. They were gathered together for one reason and one reason only and that was to bring everyone back, and arguing wasn't going to help them.

"Khaleesi." Marina quickly made her way around the sofa and sat next to the blonde placing her hands on her shoulders trying to ease her mind.

"-Why that other wise, that what we needed was a suit of armour around the world. Remember that?Whether it impacted our precious freedoms, or not. That's what we needed."

"Well that didn't work out, did it?" Steve retorted tiredly.

"I said we'd lose. You said, 'We'll do that together, too.' Well guess what, Cap? We lost. You weren't there. But that's what we do, right? Our best work after the fact?" He was now held back gently by Rhodey as Steve looked down in shame. "We're the Avengers? We're the Avengers? Not the Prevengers?"

"Stop." Melody pleaded looking between the two men. Her mind was running wild as numerous thoughts ran through her mind, specifically everyones in the room. Anger, sadness, sorrow, grief filled thoughts.

Natasha handed Marina a glass of water for Melody who gladly drank it. Her worried irises remained on the young woman.

"Okay. You made your point. Just sit down, okay?" Rhodey pleaded his friend.

"Uh, is she gonna be okay?" Carol questioned pointing to the blonde who clutched the side of her head.

"No, no. Here's my . . ." Tony looked from Tony and pointed to Carol, "She's great, by the way."

"-Tony, sit, sit down!"

Melody narrowed her eyes on the two men growing irritated with constant bickering.

"We need you. You're new blood. Look, she's getting angry where was that when we were at war? Huh?" He asked looking from Carol to Melody to now making his way over to Steve. "Bunch of tired old mills . . . I got nothing for you, Cap. I got no coordinates, no clues, no strategies, no options . . . Zero. Zip. Nada. No trust, you liar . . ." Removing his lifeline he placed it harshly into Steve's hand. "Here, take this. You find him and you put that on. You hide-" Tony collapsed to the floor, Melody stood behind him her hand raised in the air, her eyes a burning gold.

"Tony!"

Melody shook her head in irritation and exited the room as Rhodey and Pepper tended to Tony.

"She's grieving." Steve defended the angered nymph.

"We all are, Steve." Pepper remarked in a harsh tone, she sighed helping Rhodey carry Tony into a secluded room.

"I'll go get her." Natasha announced excusing herself and following Melody out of the room, "Hey!" She shouted as she quickened her pace behind her, "Stop." Melody was turned around by the blonde who wore a worried look on her features, "What's gotten into you?"

"Everything." She breathed out, "Everything has gotten worse and it hurts. Inside and out, and I - I don't know why. Marina said it has to do with the Trident-"

"We'll find it."

"It's gone and I don't know where it is. I don't know know what I'm doing." She admitted.

Natasha wrapped her arms around her and hugged, "We'll think of something." Melody nodded though. a part of her doubted her words.

"𝓑ruce gave him a sedative. He's gonna probably be out for the rest of the day." Rhodey announced.

"You guys take care of him. And I'll bring an Bezurian elixir when I come back." Carol stated before walking away.

"Where are you going?" Steve asked the blonde.

"To kill Thanos." She deadpanned.

"Hey. You know we usually work as a team here, and between you and I we're also a little fragile." Natasha said as Carol came to a halt turning to the group.

"If anyone is going to kill him, I want to be there for it. Or help." Melody said as a matter of fact crossing her arms over her chest. Carol's lips twitched upwards in amusement.

"We realize up there is more your territory but this is our fight, too." Steve said nodding in agreement with Melody's words.

"You even know where he is?" Rhodey questioned.

"I know people who might."

"Don't bother." Nebula piped up from the corner gaining their attention, "I can tell you where Thanos is. Thanos spent a long time trying to perfect me. Then when he worked, he talked about his great plan. Even disassembled, I wanted to please him. I'd ask, where would we go once his plan was complete? His answer was always the same. To The Garden."

Rhodey rolled his eyes, "That's cute. Thanos has a retirement plan."

"So where is he, then?" Steve asked as a hologram appeared on the desk showcasing weigh points of the planet.

"When Thanos snapped his fingers, Earth became ground zero for a power surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions. No one's ever seen anything like it . . . until two days ago. On this planet." Rocket explained.

"He's there." Melody mumbled starring at the holographic.

Nebula nodded at her words, "He used the stones again." Natasha noted as she looked at the screen.

"Every time he uses them, we'll know." Marina noted, "This just got easier. Why wasn't this easier weeks ago." She muttered. Earning a nod from both Carol and Melody.

"Hey, hey, hey . . . We'd be going in short-handed, you know?" Bruce reminded them.

"He still has the stones." Melody argued, "We can do something with them."

"So let's get them." Carol nodded. "We use them to bring everyone back."

"Just like that?"

"Yeah. Just like that." Steve nodded.

"Even if there's a small chance that we can undo this . . . I mean, we owe it to everyone who's not in this room to try." Natasha agreed.

"If we do this, how do we know it's gonna end any differently than it did before?" Bruce asked.

"Because before, you didn't have me." Carol pointed out.

"Hey, new girl, everybody in this room is about that superhero life. And if you don't mind my asking, where the hell have you been all this time?" Rhodey asked sarcastically.

"There are a lot of other planets in the universe. And unfortunately, they didn't have you guys." She shrugged.

Thor stood up and made his way over to the blonde, standing tall. Carol looked up with an amused look on her features as he outstretched his hand and Stormbreaker flew into his grasp.

"I like this one." He said earning a smirk from Carol.

"Let's go get this son of a bitch."

𝓜elody sat in between Rhodey and Marina, her face was pressed against the window as she stared into the darkness that space welcomed them with. She almost felt giddy that she'd see everyone's face soon. That there was still hope - a plan.

She told herself she'd do everything different. Or try too.

"Okay. Who here hasn't been to space?" Rocket questioned as only Steve, Natasha, Melody, Rhodey and Marina raised their hands. Thor and Bruce looked to one another then to the racoon and Nebula. "You better not throw up on my ship." He muttered.

"Approaching jump in three . . . two . . . one." Nebula announced as the ship took off entering a forcefield.

"I think I'm going to be sick." Melody muttered as Marina looked equally green much like the seaweed under water they was accustomed to.

"Don't." Rocket looked to the blonde as Thor reached over placing his hand over her mouth.

"I'll head down for recon." Carol appeared and sped off into the planet where Thano had taken refuge.

Natasha glanced over to Steve who stared down at his watch that held Peggy Carter's face. She frowned, "This is gonna work Steve." She assured him.

"I know it will. Because I don't know what I'm gonna do if it doesn't."

"No satellites, no ships, no armies, no ground defences of any kind. It's just him." Carol informed them as she hovered outside of the ship.

"Then that's enough." Nebula nodded as they took off and landed the ship in a field.

The group dispersed into the forestry seeing an abandoned hut in the centre of a field.

"I'll get him from above." Carol said as she flew upwards across from the group sending a ray of light through the wall sending Thanos backwards with a force she held him in a headlock.

The doors bursted opened, revealing what was left of The Avengers. Both Bruce and Rhodey held his arms back. Thor entered and cut his arm off that withheld the gauntlet. Just as Steve, Natasha, Melody, Marina, Rocket and Nebula entered the hut.

"Oh, no." Rocket said as he looked down at the burnt gauntlet.

"Where are they?" Steve asked.

"Answer the question." Carol demanded tightening her hold around the titan's neck. Thanos groaned in pain.

"Answer him! You ugly purple plum!" Melody demanded shoving the tip of her dagger into his shoulder's blade, blood began to trickle down his chest.

Thanos grunted, "The universe required correction. After that, t-the stones served no purpose, beyond temp-temptation."

"You murdered trillions!" Bruce said in enraged as he shoved him down to the ground.

"You should be grateful." He spat out.

"You're going to be grateful when we rip you apart." Melody spat out.

"Where are the stones?" Marina asked her sword raised high a look of disgust on her features.

"Gone. Reduced to atoms."

Natasha's eyes breamed with tears as did Marina's. Melody's however held anger. Within seconds she jammed her blade into the Titans leg.

A howl of pain left Thanos.

"You used them two days ago." Bruce stated ignoring the scene before him.

"I used the stones to destroy the stones. It nearly killed me. But the work is done. It always will be. I am inevitable." He taunted.

"W-we have to tear this place apart. H-he has to be lying." Rhodey denied shaking his head looking around them.

"My father is many things. A liar is not one of them." Nebula denied grimly.

"Thank you, Daughter. Perhaps I treated you too harshly . . ." He trailed off wincing from the pain in his leg. Just as he reached forwards Thor swung Stormbreaker and cut off his head sending blood flying around the room.

"What . . . what did you do?" Rocket asked in disbelief.

"I went for the head." Thor said numbly.

Marina looked up as tears breamed her irises. She looked over to Melody whose eyes remained locked and emotionless on the bloodied head that was now across the room.

Swallowing harshly she made her way over and placed her hands on her khaleesi's arms gently and led her out of the hut.

"I am sorry." Marina whispered to the emotionless queen.

Melody's dark eyes remained trailed ahead of her, "Let's go." She stated walking away from the brunette towards the ship.

i also started crying when writing the second paragraph to this chapter so thats great cant wait to write everything else i have planned 🥰
