Chapter 11 - Magical Extortion

As always, things were getting crazy pretty fast in the Halliwell household. Today's adventure was apparently the fact that we had lost our identity. Okay, I know what you're thinking - sounds like a non-magical problem, right? And maybe our lives weren't nearly as exciting as you'd thought?

Wrong.

Dead wrong.

Whoever done it apparently had been very convincing about it, too - literally no one recognized us. Not Phoebe's boss, not Paige's coworkers at the packing plant, not Piper's employees and actually, not even my good friend from the comic book store. Something was seriously wrong if even I had been involved in the Halliwells' problems this time around.

Before I had time to give myself a headache from thinking this over far too much, blue and white orbs encompassed me and the sisters as we orbed into the Manor. If I'm being honest though, what we found was more than a little disturbing. Not to mention irritating. Sitting on our couch in our house were three blonde women flipping through the book.

I felt my mouth drop open slightly before sliding into a frown of agitation. How dare they!

"Alright, who do you think you are?" Piper demanded, effectively making the girls spin around to face us.

"Oh, you haven't heard?" the main one who eerily resembled Jenny McCarthy sneered back at her, "We're the Charmed Ones."

"Nice dress," one of the blondes spat sarcastically at Phoebe.

Phoebe's eyes narrowed in response as Paige countered, "Nice book."

A grin split my face and I fist-bumped her for that one. But before any of us could react further, the blondes started to chant, reading out of the yellowed pages of the book. Piper moved her hands in an attempt to freeze them but nothing happened. Suddenly, glowing lights surrounded the four of us, rising up out of us before transferring itself into the three blondes. With a sick feeling, I suddenly realized what was happening - what had happened...they had taken our magic.

All three smiled in triumph, the youngest, Margo, purposefully sending me a grin as she wiggled her fingers. A portrait on the wall began to slide then - left then right - before finally breaking free of its hook only to float through the air. My blood boiled at the sight - that was my power!

"Let's see, what was that freaky little hand thing you did?" one of them, Mabel, smirked over at Piper then, "Like this?"

She stretched her fingers outward and with a loud boom, the vase exploded behind us, raining shards of glass down on the three of us and Piper flying across the room.

"Oh, I'm down!" she called and I cringed as I noticed the crimson stain quickly soaking her pants leg.

Phoebe kicked one of them in the stomach, sending her soaring through the air as well but she wasn't fast enough. Jenny McCarthy AKA Mitzy jumped up, levitating as she kicked Phoebe in the face. Another Halliwell down, two and a half to go, I thought to myself grimly as Paige took on the other sister. Rushing over to Piper's side, I ripped the bottom half from my beloved Third Eye Blind t-shirt, effectively turning it into a crop top as I quickly began to wrap it around her injured leg to soak up some of the blood.

Paige and Phoebe raced over mere seconds later and successfully orbed us out of there. A sigh escaped my mouth as several hours later, we stumbled into an old run-down roach motel. Immediately, Phoebe began to assess her sister's injuries while Paige looked on. I walked over to the window, peeling back the curtain with one hand as I gazed out the smudged window. There were motorcycles in the parking lot, lit up green and red due to the neon signs hanging overhead and I could just make out figures loitering around out there. They looked tough, dangerous. Definitely not the kind of place we should be in. And yet, what were our choices now? The Manor was lost to us, our identities, too. Where else could we go?

"How are we gonna stay alive? How are we gonna fight without our powers?" Paige asked then as I tuned back into the conversation, letting the curtain flutter back closed as I turned around.

"At least you can still orb," I pointed out, taking a seat beside Paige on the bed.

She shrugged, slightly nodding as she wrapped her arms around me in a sisterly fashion and I leaned my head on her shoulder.

"I wish you could orb to Leo. I'd give anything for one of his unwanted visits right... ow!" she shrieked in pain as Phoebe attempted to clean her cut.

"Piper, we really should get you to the doctor," Phoebe told her, worry clear as a bell in her voice.

"No."

"Why?"

"The same reason we paid cash for this room. Because without picture IDs, we've got no credit cards, we got nothing. It's like we don't exist,"

Well, couldn't argue with that one.

"Everyone in the world thinks we're these trashy blondes," Paige stated glumly, "I do have to hand it to them though, they've taken identity theft to a whole new level."

"Very true," I muttered under my breath.

"What about Chris?" Piper suggested then and I stiffened at his name, "What if we get him in the same room with the blonde ones so we can prove to him they're fakes?"

Paige eyed me strangely and I quickly entangled myself from her embrace, knowing she'd felt me tense up at the mention of him.

"How? He can't hear our call. Going into the manor right now would be suicide," I pointed out.

"Wait a minute. I have an idea. Maybe we can find some magical creatures to help us. Like fairies or muses. What do you think?" Phoebe suggested.

Piper shook her head in response, "We won't be able to see them, we're not witches anymore,"

"You're not, you can't see them. But I'm still half Whitelighter and I actually happen to know where a couple of handy dandy gremlins like to hang out," Paige smiled.

"You mean, the fruit packer killing variety?" I arched an eyebrow.

"No-no-no-no. This could actually work!" Phoebe started to say excitedly, "Gremlins are fast, right? They can move between realms, they could actually help us find Chris,"

"What if they say no?" Piper asked.

"Well, if they say no then I'll just have to threaten their little behinds with my vanquishing gel," Paige grinned in triumphant response.

"Okay, Paige, you orb to the plant and find those gremlins. Chris has got to be back to the manor by midnight. Piper, you stay here where you're safe. Mattie, you're with me." Phoebe gave us all our obejctives.

I had to resist the urge to fist-pump the air. Finally! Something to do instead of being made to stay and babysit.

"Where are you two going?" Piper asked in confusion.

"We are going to hand out a personal invitation." Phoebe smirked before strolling out the door just as Paige orbed out as well.

This time I couldn't help it, I let the sigh escape my mouth, hands on my hips as I glanced over at Piper, sitting propped up on the bed still. I had no choice to follow Phoebe at this point anyhow.

"Wish us luck, Pipes. I think this time we might actually need it."
