༉˚*ೃ 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐘 ; 𝐊𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐄 𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐑
ᵗʷᵉˡᵛᵉ ʰᵃᵈ ᶠᵒᵘᵍʰᵗ ⁿⁱᵍʰᵗᵐᵃʳᵉˢ ˢⁱⁿᶜᵉ ᵗʰᵉ ᵈᵃʸ ˢʰᵉ ʷᵃˢ ᵇᵒʳⁿ.

𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 ;

katie was born to a father and mother she would never know, her mother who had been exposed to the mk ultra experiments run by dr martin brenner. the moment of katie's birth, she was removed from the hospital and her parents' arms, and was stolen away to the hawkins lab. for the first years of her life, she was raised in isolation by scientists and dr brenner. though her powers didn't develop until she was older, tests were still ran on her. when she was four years old she was integrated into the same program as the other children of the lab, and became mostly their responsibility. her name was twelve, though she later gave herself the name 'katie' along with the encouragement of the other children of the lab. 

kate was raised by fellow experiments, most notably lune, sar, james, emma and one, who were the eldest of the lab by the time katie arrived (by this time, three and seven were already deceased). she grew up under their guidance and was loved—and unlike the other children of the lab, she was able to make memories with them of how it felt to be loved by a family. 

she was nine years old when she, sar, lune and james broke out of the lab. the plan had initially been to take all of the children, but complications with the guards prior to that moment meant it was whoever they could grab. it was katie's responsibility to blow open the outer wall with her energy blast, though it sapped most of her energy almost immediately. she was able to keep deflecting the bullets with said powers as they ran. as lune made her sacrifice, katie ran on ahead with james, and was the first to squeeze through the tunnel and gates to freedom. 

she lived with james in wyoming for three years, after sar left them to venture on her own. there, she slipped easily into school and a semi-normal life. james cared and provided for her, while the both of them remained a steady telepathic connection with sar, who was in chicago. after receiving increasingly worrying messages from sar—who had returned to their hometown of hawkins—regarding monsters and hawkins lab, both katie and james crossed the country to once again reunite with her. katie ultimately saved sar and her friends from the demogorgon by using her powers, and became integrated into sar's new life and sar's biological father, jim hopper.

𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 ;

katie has a sharp, upturned nose and wide blue-green eyes that are often compared to crystals or ocean waves. a long scar adorns her left cheek from where she was once violently attacked by a solider in the laboratory. it remains deep and shimmering white. though she despises it, others around her tell her that they think it makes her prettier. she also has the tattoo of '012' on her left arm, and is covered in various scars from her time in hawkins lab.

her hair is a bright blonde, falling to her breasts. she is slight, with the body of a dancer. yet, she has muscles from participating in sports at school—such as hockey and soccer—and is very athletic. she'll reach a height of 5'9" when she's older, tall like her adoptive sister, sara.

𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 ;

katie has a naturally bubbly and positive personality. she's constantly grinning or bouncing around, poking fun at her close friends. she's a physically affectionate friend who loves to hop on her friends to pester or tease them. she'll use her powers to trip them up. her favourite thing to do is make those around her laugh. katie barely goes a few minutes without grinning at something, or giggling at something else. she's learnt how to make herself happy due to all those years stuck without joy in the lab.

after certain events in her life (that are yet to be explored in the moonmaiden series) katie's life seems to take a turn for the worse. she becomes secluded and sad, and borders falling into a depressive state. despite having her friends there to help her, she can't bear to be around her home or those who remind her what she lost. she still has fun with max on their adventures, but is very deeply grieving. the events resurfaced her traumas from her childhood in hawkins lab, and she begins to have terrible nightmares. 

𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐎𝐍 ;

though katie's style also adopts the classical 80s style of her era, kate dresses in bright, colourful colours and rainbows. she adores all things vibrant and full of colour as they make her truly happy. t-shirts and shorts are the form of clothing she most often wears, always colourful and loud. sometimes, she wears sar's favourite pieces of clothing: such as her jacket, sweater, or yellow socks.

katie will occasionally paint small rainbows on the backs of her hands, over the tattoo on her wrist, or on her cheekbones. she also does this with lovehearts. she often wears heart-shaped sunglasses and bright-coloured hairclips. she is also rarely seen without the wishbone necklace that once belonged to two. she used to wear her hair in double twin braids, often threaded with wildflowers, but now she opts for a simpler ponytail or just having her hair down.

𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐖𝐒 ;

ᶜʰⁱˡᵈⁱˢʰ— katie begins as a very naive girl with childish tendencies. though this remains in the form of her bubbly, happy-go-lucky personality, she grows out of this relatively quickly once being integrated into normal life back in hawkins.

ᵗʳᵘˢᵗⁱⁿᵍ— katie has a habit of trusting people too quickly. this means that while she makes friends very easily, she also becomes close to them far too fast. therefore, if they betray her, leave her behind, or pass away, she's left broken and a shell of the person she once was. yet, she continuously falls into the same trap of becoming easily-attached. this also puts her in danger if she trusts someone who wants to sell her out, or harm her in any way.

ᵗʳᵃᵘᵐᵃ— growing up in the lab left katie deeply traumatised, despite the bubbly forefront she puts on. though majority of the time she is a happy, uplifted girl, some things can cause her trauma to resurface and she may have a breakdown. this includes being reminded of the lab; people she loves dying (like how her friends did in the lab); or simply having bad nightmares.

ˢᵗᵘᵇᵇᵒʳⁿⁿᵉˢˢ— katie, like her adoptive sister sara, is very stubborn. this means that when she has her mind set on something, she is rarely dissuaded. whether this means taking part in an unsafe sport, wanting to improve at a skill, or hunting down labs and monsters—once katie is motivated, no matter how dangerous, she simply cannot be stopped.

ˢᵒᶠᵗ⁻ʰᵉᵃʳᵗᵉᵈⁿᵉˢˢ— despite all katie's traumas and growth over the years, she remains a very soft-hearted person (except towards monsters or anyone involved in the running part of the lab). she has a tendency to forgive, but not forget, even when someone has hurt her. this can put her in dangerous situations, as some people simply aren't as good as they seem and may not want to change.
