I WOULDN'T MIND
twenty-two. five years later
▬▬ EMMETT SHIFTED ON his feet, taking a needless breath as he adjusted the jacket of his tux. Travis laughed lightly, patting his brother on the shoulder. "Nervous?" He raised an eyebrow.
"I shouldn't be." Emmett told him, feeling ridiculous that when the moment he had spent years thinking about finally came around, he was unbelievably nervous.
"It's a big deal, man." The younger boy told him with a small shrug and a lopsided smile on his face. "It's okay to be nervous. If it makes you feel better, she's nervous, too."
"I don't-" He started but when the band started playing All of Me his words died out. The small crowd of people fell quiet as they rose to their feet. And all eyes turned to gaze down the aisle.
Lola smiled as she made her way down the aisle, winking at Noah as she passed him then she stopped by the altar. Then all eyes turned again, this time Charlie stood at the end of the aisle with Cori on his right, her arm looped around his.
She took a breath, her fingers tightening around the sleeve of Charlie's jacket. She knew what she wanted, she knew she wanted forever with Emmett but that didn't make it any less nerve wracking.
"You good?" Charlie asked. "If not we can turn around, Sue left the truck running."
She couldn't help the laugh that left her as she looked up at him, her sheer veil tumbling down her back along with her long, black, perfectly curled ringlets. "I'm okay. But thanks."
"Always." He kissed her temple. "You ready?"
She swallowed hard, letting her eyes roam over everyone, their eyes all trained on her as she stood with Charlie. Noah wore a huge smile, his suit tight around his broad shoulders and thick muscles, which had only gotten bigger after he had gotten drafted into the NFL. And on his hip he held a three-year-old little blond boy, whose eyes were the color of freshly washed green grapes.
Carter simply looked proud, his tailored suit made him like he just stepped out of a GQ magazine. Next to him, a short woman stood, her brown hair highlighted with a few pink strands and her skin a beautiful caramel color. Cori couldn't be happier for the boy and his girlfriend, Kira – who he had met his freshman year at Harvard.
The pack, who took up half of the chairs, were making faces, trying to get a laugh out of the small vampire – and it worked. And what really got her was when Paul held up his daughter, her hair dark and thick on her head despite the fact that she was merely a year old. Next to him, Rachel smacked his arm and took the baby from him, shaking her head a little.
Kim shifted on her feet, smiling as she rested her hand on her plump belly and leaned into Jared's side, prompting him to kiss her cheek as he placed his hand on her bump.
In the row behind them, Sam was trying – and failing – to keep his and Emily's four-year-old from kicking the back of the chair in front of him while Emily rocked their eighteen-month-old in her arms.
Seth had his arm around his girlfriend, her blonde hair blowing in the breeze that filtered through the trees. And even Leah wore a smile as she stood next to her brother, with her mom on her other side.
And the Cullens all watched the young girl with nothing short of adoration.
Finally, her eyes met Emmett's after what felt like forever, and every ounce of worry she had ever felt drained from her. His lips pulled into a smile, his eyes softening as she moved towards him, the skirt of her white dress shifting against the ground with each step.
He looked good in his suit, with a bow tie tied around his neck, and she didn't miss the Nikes on his feet.
He, however, hadn't looked away from her for a second. He had never seen anything so beautiful, he swore she was an angel before him, meant just for him. His heart did somersaults and the urge to shed only the happiest of tears pricked behind his eyes.
Once they reached the altar, Charlie kissed Cori's cheek before making his way to his seat, his hand closing around Sue's as she handed him a tissue with her other hand. He gave her a smile as he took it and wiped at his eyes, watching as Emmett closed his hands around Cori's, both locked in what looked to be an all encompassing gaze.
"Welcome." Travis smiled, looking around at everyone as they took their seats. "Today we gather here to witness the –" he stopped when Emmett pulled Cori to him, pressing his lips to hers. "We're not there yet!" He huffed, forcing the two apart as everyone laughed.
"Sorry." Cori mumbled, smiling sheepishly at everyone before meeting Emmett's eyes again.
"I'm not." He shrugged and she rolled her eyes playfully as a smirk pulled at his lips, then he turned towards Travis. "Speed it up, will ya?"
"Emmett." Cori chuckled, shaking her head a little.
"What?"
"Anyways," Travis started again. "We're glad you're here to see these two idiots finally get married. And we're just gonna get right to it before they start making out again..."

▬▬ "AUNT CORI!" Gabe shouted, his little legs moving as fast as possible to reach the girl.
"Gabe!" She squatted down just as he reached her, his little arms winding around her neck as she wrapped her arms around him and stood up. "Oh, you look so handsome." She gushed, situating him on her hip and tugging the front of his black vest down.
"Only for you." He hummed, a smile on his lips as he toyed with her veil.
"He's not kidding." Noah shook his head a little as he neared them. "He refuses to wear anything other than shorts and his boots, but when I mentioned you..."
"He loves his aunt Cori." She shrugged. "Isn't that right, Little Man?" She tickled his stomach a little and he giggled, shifting in her arms.
"Right." He nodded, leaning forward to kiss her cheek. She hummed, wrapping her arms around him as she closed her eyes, relishing in the moment. She had come to terms with the fact that she'd never have kids, but that didn't make not wanting them any easier. "No tears." Gabe kissed her cheek again, melting her heart completely as she looked at him.
"No tears. I'm just... happy." She told him. "Now, go attack Paul. He said mean things to me."
"Okay." He nodded, a determined look in his eyes as she put him back on his feet then he took off and latched onto Paul's leg with an evil giggle, taking the wolf by surprise.
"Ya little gremlin!" Paul shook his leg, but the boy held on as Rachel and Kim laughed.
"You okay?" Noah asked, wrapping his arm around Cori's shoulders.
"Knowing I can't have them makes me want them more."
"You can have Gabe."
She laughed, leaned against him for a moment. "I appreciate that, but I'm not taking your kid."
"I tried." He huffed as she shoved him a little, making him laugh.
"So, Peanut," the two turned as Carter neared them, a glass of champagne in his hand. "-how's it feel to be married?"
She grinned, her eyes finding Emmett across the yard as he and Phil talked baseball and Kai, Sam and Emily's four year old, tugged on his hand. The kid had taken a liking to the vampire pretty quickly. "It's pretty good." She nodded, meeting his eyes again with a smile. "How's the girlfriend?"
"Fiancée."
"What?!" The girl nearly shouted and Noah laughed as her eyes grew wide. "You proposed?" She smacked his arm lightly. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Carter chuckled. "You've been busy planning your wedding-"
"She's been planning this wedding for four years, you had time to tell her." Noah pipped in only for Carter to smack the back of his head.
"It wasn't really planned, I mean, I had the ring picked out but I didn't really have a plan. We were just hanging out at this coffee shop, and I just kind of did it, like, I couldn't stop the words from coming out."
"Aww." She gushed, poking his arm a little. "That's so sweet."
"Okay, you can stop now." He waved her off. "It's your day, not mine. Go annoy your husband."
"Husband." She hummed. "I like the way that sounds." With that she turned in search of her husband, who now had Kai on his shoulders, Gabe wrapped around his right leg and Talia, Paul and Rachel's daughter, on his left leg. And all Cori could do was smile at them.

▬▬ "WE'RE MARRIED." Cori mumbled, her arms around Emmett's neck, her fingers laced together as his hands rested on her hips, keeping her body pressed against his as they swayed to the music that played from the speakers since the band had taken a break.
"Yeah." He hummed, leaning down to press his lips against hers. "I almost can't believe it."
"Me either." She tugged him closer, brushing her nose against his. "Now you're stuck with me forever."
"Forever isn't long enough."
"Not even close." She agreed as I Wouldn't Mind played from the speakers. And she was certain that no song had even truly encompassed what she felt about the man before her more than that song. The second she heard it, she was hooked and she knew that it had to be played at their wedding, because it was their song. It was them.
"Can we leave now?" He mumbled, leaning down towards her ear.
She giggled, her hands moving down to his chest. "The reception isn't even over yet."
"So?" He shrugged.
She quickly glanced around, everyone was talking and sipping champagne as the kids ran around with Seth and his girlfriend, Sadie. "Let's go." She hummed, stepping away from him and latching onto his hand before she gathered up her skirt and then they took off towards the barn that was tucked away on the back of their property.
"And they're gone." Travis mumbled, looking over at Rosalie as they watched the couple disappear into the distance, their laughter filling the air as Emmett lifted the girl off her feet.
"Did you expect any different?" She hummed.
"Not at all." He shook his head, looking down at her with a smile on his face. "They're deviants."
THE END!
