I WOULDN'T MIND

fourteen. arm wrestling

▬▬ IT WASN'T A BIG PROBLEM. It was huge, colossal even. Jacob, who was nothing more than a selfish asshole, told Charlie that he was a shapeshifter, even going as far as to phase right in front of the man he had known his entire life. Though he did leave out the part about Bella and Cori having become vampires, simply giving their father a vague non-explanation about how they had changed.

And with only ten minutes to do so, everyone was trying to calm Bella down as she freaked out. Not only would she have to control her thirst, but she'd have to move as a human would – controlling her speed and her strength.

And the most obvious of giveaways, her eyes. They were bright red, newborn red. Luckily, Alice is always prepared.

"These will irritate your eyes at first." She explained as she put brown contacts over the newborn's eyes.

"The main thing is not to move too fast." Carlisle told her.

"I didn't get human lessons." Cori mumbled quietly, though she was pretty much ignored by everyone but Travis, who chuckled as he rolled his eyes, and Emmett, who kissed her forehead.

"Try taking a seat. Crossing your legs." Esme suggested and Bella nodded. She stood up and turned towards the chair on the other side of the room. But she moved too fast, hitting the chair hard, the legs scraped against the floor and the back hit the wall. She looked up, more than a little worried, then proceeded to cross her legs. "Maybe a tad slower." Esme nodded, giving her an encouraging smile as Carlise nodded, holding up his thumb and his pointer finger.

"And blink at least three times a minute." Alice added. The newborn started blinking, definitely more times then she had to as she got used to the feeling. Alice gave her a nervous smile, "Good."

"For a cartoon character." Jacob mumbled and Cori reached over and thumped his ear, getting a glare from the boy.

"Hold your breath." Carlisle continued. "It will help with the thirst."

"Just don't forget to move your shoulders so it looks like you're breathing." Edward input and she started moving her shoulders.

"And don't sit so straight." Rosalie added. "Humans don't do that."

Obviously overwhelmed, Bella practiced everything she had been told before shaking her head as she stood up. "Okay, I got it." She nodded. "Move around, blink, slouch."

"And don't eat our dad." Cori added, getting a slight glare from her sister, to which she smiled innocently. Then they all heard the crunch of gravel, the squeal of the breaks, then the sound of a car door closing.

"Good luck." Esme gave Bella an encouraging smile as she and the other left the room, Cori pulling Emmett with her down to the stairs to greet Charlie.

She rushed towards the door, pulling it open before he even reached the steps. "Hi, daddy." She grinned, meeting him just outside the door, her arms around his torso and he wrapped his arms around her.

"Hey, Cor." He patted her back before she pulled back. "I, uh," He glanced up at Emmett, who nodded his head in greeting. "-I heard that your trip got put off, I know you were looking forward to it."

"It's okay." She shrugged a little. "We're gonna leave in a few weeks, pick it back up."

"That's the plan, anyways." Emmett added and Charlie nodded, though his worry had yet to cease as he eyed his youngest daughter curiously, which Emmett noticed. He made a mental note to kick Jacob's ass later. "Um, Bella's inside. If you wanna-"

"Yeah." He cut the boy off, his nerves getting the better of him.

"Sorry, I completely spaced." Cori mumbled as she slipped her hand into her dad's and led him into the house, Emmett closing the door behind them. "I got excited." Charlie chuckled, a barely there sound as he looked down at her as she led him up the stairs. She didn't seem like she had changed much, other than growing up a little, which was expected.

When they reached the top of the stairs, Jacob gave the chief a small nod, and Charlie blinked a few times before following Cori, Emmett trailing behind them and Jacob following. Cori smiled a little when she came to a stop in the living room.

"Here's Bella." She waved her arm out a little, hoping to ease the tension and Charlie gave her a small smile before looking over at Edward and Bella, the former of which had stood up.

"Bella?" He asked, a slight hesitation in his voice, as his dark eyes took in the girl that sat before him. Much like with Cori, she didn't exactly look like herself. She looked the same, but entirely different. But at least she didn't look sick, so that was a plus.

"Hi, dad." She greeted, her arms tightly wrapped around her knee as if to keep her in place.

"Are you okay?"

"Never better." She nodded. "Healthy as a horse."

He nodded before glancing back at Jacob then over at Cori, who stood next to Emmett – the boy had his arm around her waist and his hand on her hip, keeping her close to him – then Charlie looked at Bella once again. "You don't turn into an animal, too, do ya? Either of you?" He glanced at Cori again.

Jacob chuckled as he placed his hand on Charlie's shoulder. "They wish they were that awesome." he smirked, and Cori narrowed her eyes at him.

She was, in fact, that cool.

"Um, let's give them some privacy." Edward nodded his head a little, motioning for the others to follow him. Cori smiled and waved, her other hand laced through Emmett's as they followed behind the mind reader and the shapeshifter. And while Edward and Jacob stayed close to keep an eye on the newborn, Cori and Emmett made their way up to their room.

"Carter then Everest, then Carhenge." Cori mumbled as she typed on her keyboard. "And I do wanna see Haweii."

"Add it to the list." He nodded, giving her a smile as he looked up from the plies of books – he was determined to have all of them sorted.

"Being a vampire kinda sucks." She mumbled as she made a separate list for places they were gonna go, but they didn't have the order picked out yet. "Can't go out in the sun, can't eat food. Carlisle's gonna make us repeat high school."

"There are some upsides." He offered and she looked up at him expectantly. "We never get old. We never have to stop for air." He raised a suggestive eyebrow and she giggled. "We have all of the time in the world to do and see everything that we want."

"Valid points." She mumbled, chewing on her bottom lip.

"Look, Shortcake, it's only been a few months. You're still getting used to everything and it is a lot. But we'll figure it out together. I promise." He told her and she smiled as she moved her laptop to the floor and in less then a second, she was in his lap, her arms around his neck and her lips pressed to his. "And a huge bonus..." He mumbled. "I get to kiss you for all of eternity."

"Mhm. I like that." She hummed, pressing her lips against his again as his hands pushed her skirt up her thighs, but she stopped him with a firm grip on his wrists. "Not with my dad in the house."

He groaned, letting his forehead rest against her collarbone. "Fine."

She giggled as she kissed the side of his head before moving off of his lap, but he quickly pulled her back to him and held her in place. "Emmett-"

"I can still kiss you, right?" He asked and she chuckled as she leaned in and pressed her lips against his.

▬▬ WITH HER HAIR AND clothes just the slightest bit disheveled, Cori and Emmett joined the newlyweds on the porch to bid Charlie goodbye. Cori gushed a little, hugging him and telling him that they would send postcards from all of the places they visited and Charlie gave Emmett a very firm handshake and a take care of my daughter before finally getting into his car and leaving.

"Well done, Bella." Jasper mused as he stepped out of the house once Charlie's car was gone. "I've never seen a newborn show that kind of restraint."

Edward gave Cori a pointed look before she could argue. "Yes, you were that bad." He told her and she rolled her eyes as she leaned back into Emmett, who kissed the top of her head as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"I'm not sure she is a newborn." Emmett smirked, his chin resting on Cori's head. "She's so tame."

"Emmett, don't antagonize her, she's one of the strongest one's in the house." Edward warned, his eyes shifted from the big vampire to Cori – who was considerably stronger than everyone with the exception of Bella.

"Please." He scoffed before standing up a little straighter and cracking his knuckles, his arms still around his small girlfriend and her eyes went wide as a smirk tugged at her lips.

"Seriously, Cori. Gross." Edward shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"My boyfriend's hot and I'm just observing that." She gave him an innocent smile as she tilted her head back to look up at Emmett. "I can't help it that my head goes to some very dirty places."

Emmett grinned, leaning down to press his lips against hers. "Tell me all about it later. Right now, I gotta kick your sister's ass."

"Okay." She hummed as she stepped away from him. And he followed, tugging his jacket off so all he wore was a white sleeveless shirt, then he draped it over her shoulders as the others gathered around to watch the show.

Emmett smirked, putting on a show, as he effortlessly lifted a huge boulder and carried it over to where Bella waited. Cori grinned as she slipped her arms into the sleeves of his jacket and hugged it around her torso, relishing in the smell of him as it wrapped around her.

Bella rested her elbow in the boulder and held her hand up, looking up at Emmett, his smirk never once fading as he wrapped his hand around hers. "Don't hurt yourself, Emmett." Edward told him.

Cori bounced towards him on her toes and kissed his cheek, "I believe in you." She hummed and he grinned, that was the only thing he needed. And Cori's eyes went wide as she turned away from him, Edward chuckled quietly because he knew just how much she knew he was about to get his ass kicked.

"All right. On three." Jasper stated as they adjusted their grips. "One. Two. Three."

Emmett started pushing Bella's hand back, though he seemed to be struggling as he grunted, pushing harder. Cori chewed on her bottom lip as she watched Bella smirk before pushing his hand back. His face fell as he watched the back of his hand hit the boulder, smashing some of the stone.

Cori pouted a little as she made her way over to him, he looked completely defeated as Bella started punching and kicking the rock into pieces. "Oh, it's okay, Tree." She stood on her toes and locked her hands behind his neck. "You can try again, just give it a while. I'm sure you can get her next time." She smiled up at him, hoping to ease him a little as she lightly moved her thumbs across his neck.

"Yeah." He mumbled, his hands on her hips to pull her closer to him. "Thanks for rooting for me."

"Always." She hummed, stretching up a little more and pressing her lips against his.

"And you look really good in my jacket." He mumbled against her lips as his hands fisted around the extra fabric that hung off her small frame.

"I bet I look better naked." She whispered and in a quick move he tossed her over his shoulder and started into the house as she giggled.

"We're gonna be a while." He muttered and in mere seconds they were locked in their room, on the bed as he worked to strip her of her clothes.
