8: y yo pensaba que yo era obvio

Maisie's POV:

"This is unacceptable. Please, please please, tell them to wait, to wait." Carlos' voice was filled with desperation.

I looked at Chi and saw her worried eyes fixated on the screen. She let out a sigh and passed her hand through her hair.

"Go." I told her and she looked at me confused. "Go check up on him, he'll need it." I spoke and she looked at me, doubting if she should.

"But the..."

"Go." I repeated. "Hug him for me." I added and she smiled a little bit, nodding as she stood up.

She walked away and I followed her with my eyes. I turned my eyes back to the screen. Lando and Oscar were on the points. The race was about to finish.

[...]

I heard celebration and saw a lots of cameras surrounding someone, it was Oscar. He was the local hero who had just scored his first F1 points.

He spotted me and a smile appeared on his face.

"You're a psychic Maisie." He went in to hug him and I laughed rubbing his back.

"Congratulations. You deserve it." I squeezed his shoulder.

"You are my lucky charm." He told me and I chuckled shaking my head.

"I'm not anyone's lucky charm." I raised my eyebrows smiling and he chuckled.

"Alright, then I can take all the credit." He joked and I laughed.

"Go do your interviews. Local hero." I gave him a slight push and he smiled as he walked away.

I followed him with my eyes. He turned around one last time and waved at me with a smile on his face, I waved back.

I started walking towards the Ferrari motor home. Suddenly, I felt someone grab my arm, pulling me like I was light as a feather. I gasped and felt my back hit a wall softly.

"What are you doing?" I asked when I met a pair of blue eyes.

"If they see us they're going to start rumors. And we are just friends, aren't we?" He asked, a reading smile on his face as he leaned in.

"We are." I pushed him back alguien my, trying to ignore the fluttering in my stomach. He chuckled looking down at my hand and then looked back at me.

"I just wanted to thank you for being my lucky charm." He put his hands behind his back, his eyes shifting between my eyes and lips.

"You're welcome. First and last time." I spoke.

"Are you sure?" He squinted, pursing his lips.

"I am." I replied firmly, a smile on my face.

"We'll see." He whispered, moving a strand of hair off my face with two fingers. My breath ran short and I put the strand of hair behind my ear.

I hated the fluttering in my stomach. It made me feel so small. Like I was a high schooler with a crush. I cleared my throat trying to regain my composure.

"Me and the others are going to celebrate." He spoke and I raised my eyebrows nodding.

"Great, have fun." I told him trying to walk around him. He grabbed my arm softly and turned to look at me, the distance between us being so small.

"I wasn't informing you, I was inviting you." He spoke still holding my arm and I made a thinking face.

"Pass. I'll see you in Monaco, Mr. Norris." I fixed his polo's neck.

"Monaco?" He asked and I looked up at him, meeting his eyes.

"Monaco." I repeated and turned to walk away. I could feel his eyes following me.

"It's such a long time!" He yelled throwing his hands besides his hips, I shrugged looking at him.

"You'll have to wait!" I yelled and he threw his head back.

"Fine!" He yelled and I chuckled looking back to the front. "I'm going to miss you Maisie Findlay!" He yelled putting his hand on his chest jokingly and I chuckled shaking my head.

Lando's POV:

"For your first F1 points!" I yelled looking at Oscar an everyone cheered as we clinked our glasses.

I took a long sip and looked over to Carlos. He was sat on a corner, downing his third drink already.

"Drink it all Oscar!" Logan yelled encouraging him to finish the mojito.

"I'm not doing that." Oscar shook his head chuckling.

"Come on Oscar." George insisted.

"Oscar!" Logan stared chanting.

"Oscar! Oscar! Oscar!" Everyone followed along, chanting loudly. Oscar laughed and shook his head as people kept chanting his name.

"Fine!" He yelled and started downing the drink.

Everyone cheered and clapped loudly as Oscar made a face of disgust. I started making my way towards Carlos.

"That was disgusting." I heard Oscar say followed along with some laughter from the others.

"Hey." I sat down besides Carlos and he looked at me, giving me a small smile in return. "Cheer up mate, it's okay." I patted his back trying to cheer him up.

"I'm just so frustrated." He raised his eyebrows for a second before taking a sip of his drink, which had a dark amber color, probably whiskey.

When he extended his arm, his unbuttoned shirt moved down, showing a red mark on his chest. I smiled amused, noticing this.

"I can see Chi has already helped you cheer up." I teased pulling down his shirt.

"Ey." He hit my hand laughing as he put down his drink that was in his other hand. "Cabrón, you notice everything." He laughed and I shrugged smiling.

"What's going on between you two?" I questioned genuinely and I saw his smile fade a little bit. He took a short sip from his glass.

"I don't know." He replied and pursed his lips, thinking of that he was going to say next. "I've liked her for a long time." He admitted.

"You never mentioned her." I spoke tilting my head slightly.

"My situation with Chi is not something I go around discussing with the world." He spoke and I put my hand on my chest, acting offended. He laughed and shook his head.

Our laughter slowly faded and I noticed him staring at his drink blankly, I could see a million thoughts reflected in his eyes. I looked down and saw him fidgeting with his hands.

"Carlos." I called him and he replied with a hum, snapping his head towards me. "You okay mate?" I asked.

"Yeah, just thinking." I noticed his forced smile and nodded pursing my lips. He grabbed his glass, downing his drink quickly as I stared at him.

"Lando! Carlos! Come dance!" Oscar yelled, waving at us to come over. I smiled and stood up but noticed Carlos still sitting.

I looked at him, expecting him to follow along.

"I'm good, you go." He smiled and I looked at him doubtful.

"Are you sure?" I asked, looking at Oscar who was waiting for us and then back at Carlos.

"I'm sure, go mate." He patted my arm, reassuring and I pursed my lips on a smile nodding.

I walked towards Oscar.

"And Carlos?" He asked wrapping his arm around me.

"He doesn't feel like dancing." I replied looking back at Carlos, I saw him ordering another drink.

"Aw, fine." Oscar's words were slurry.

"Are you drunk?" I chuckled looking at him. He looked up at me with an innocent smile and I laughed. "Logan, what'd you give him?" I asked in between laughter.

"Nothing!" Logan laughed.

"Not even I am drunk." Charles laughed along.

"Leave me alone. I'm happy." Oscar spoke offended. "Happy, happy, happy." He mumbled in a singing voice, smiling.

We laughed amused.

Maisie's POV:

It was really late. Chi and I were watching The Conjuring. Chi loved scary movies and somehow loved seeing them late at night too.

"Here comes the best part." Chi spoke excited. I had my arms crossed in front of my chest. "Wait for it."

There was a scream on the TV and I flinched slightly scared. Chi laughed at my reaction.

"Holy shit." I mumbled, putting my hand on my chest, feeling my heart racing.

There was a knock on the door and Chi and I jumped scared.

"Hell no." I spoke as Chi held onto my arm, pausing the TV as we stared at the door scared.

We looked at each other.

"I'm not opening that." Chi whispered.

"Me neither." I whispered.

"You're stronger." Chi whispered and I shook my head.

"Nope, the pretty one always dies first." I joked whispering and she hit my arm slightly.

There was another knock and we jumped again. Chi letting out a small scream.

"Chi!" We heard a familiar voice and looked at each other. "Chi, please open the door." The voice called again.

"Is that..." I was about to ask but Chi stood up, walking towards the door. "Wait." I called.

"What?" Chi turned to look at me, stopping.

"What if it's a demon pretending to be a person?" I asked and she looked at the door and then at me.

She grabbed a lamp that was on the desk and opened the door. There was no one on the other side. She looked around confused.

"Chi." A figure popped up in front of her.

We both screamed and Chi raised the lamp.

"It's me." Carlos raised his hands in fake surrender.

"What the hell Carlos?" Chi yelled lowering the lamp. "I almost killed you." She spoke and I put my hand on my chest.

"With a lamp?" He raised his eyebrows smiling.

Chi scoffed and put the lamp back on the desk. When she turned back to Carlos he stumbled forwards, clearly drunk. Chi caught him, keeping him from falling.

"Have you been drinking?" She asked as she pulled him in the room.

"Maybe." He smiled innocently.

I stood up to help them. I closed the door.

"Help me with the other arm." Chi told me and I nodded, wrapping one of Carlos' arm around my neck.

"Oh hey Maisie." He looked at me smiling.

"Hey Carlitos." I smiled and he chuckled softly at the nickname.

We walked towards one of the beds in the room.

"Chi, I wanted to tell you something." He spoke, desperately. Chi wasn't paying attention to him. "Chi." He called her, desperate to get her attention.

"Careful." Chi ignored him as we put him down softly over the white sheets.

"Chi." Carlos called again as I walked towards a closet to get him a blanket. Chi was fixing the pillows behind his head. "Chiara." He grabbed her arm softly and she looked at him.

I froze into place, not wanting to interrupt.

"What Carlos?" She asked, knowing why he was here.

"I've been thinking a lot about you." He spoke, lowering his hand from her arm to her hand.

"Carlos." Chi sighed.

"I thought seeing you again would be easy but it wasn't. Not when you look as beautiful as I remembered you." He spoke intertwining his fingers with hers.

Chi's features softened and she kneeled down besides him to look at him face to face.

"Things between us never work Carlos." She whispered, I saw Carlos examine every inch of her face.

"I want to make them work." He spoke, putting his hand on her face.

"You're drunk." Her tone showed slight disappointment.

"No, I'm in love with you." His tone expressed frustration. Chi's whole expression changed at his words.

"You are?" She asked and he nodded.

"I've always been." He added.

Chi smiled softly and Carlos smiled back at her. Chi turned to look at me and I smiled at her.

Lando's POV:

We kept drinking and dancing. Oscar took another shot and raised his hands in the air as everyone cheered. I looked around and my smiled faded when I noticed something.

I hadn't seen Carlos in a while.

"George." I called him and he looked at me. "Have you seen Carlos?" I asked and he furrowed his brows.

"Not really." He replied.

"Shit." I cursed walking away, leaving George confused.

I pushed through a small crowd and looked around trying to find him. I saw Pierre standing in the corner talking with Charles.

"Have you seen Carlos?" I asked, interrupting their chat.

"No, why?" Charles replied and I sighed throwing my head back.

"I saw him." Pierre spoke and I looked at him waiting for him to elaborate. "He said he needed fresh air a while ago." He added.

"Is everything okay?" Charles asked worried.

I made a thinking face remembering our last chat, hoping he wasn't were I thought he was.

"Yeah, I'm going to look for him outside." I replied sighing as I walked towards the exit.

"Okay, I'll tell you if I see him. Tell me when you find him." Charles spoke and I nodded as I kept walking.

I walked out and felt the fresh air hit my face. I took my phone out of my pocket and looked through my contact list. I saw her name and doubted before clicking it.

"I'm going to kill him." I muttered putting the phone on my ear.

The line rang and my heart raced.

"Hello?" I heard her confused voice and my throat ran dry.

"Maisie Findlay." I tried to play it cool.

"Didn't think you'd call so soon." She spoke and I chuckled softly.

"I missed you." I joked and heard her chuckle. "I was calling you because I lost something." I explained.

"Something as in Carlos?" She asked and I closed my eyes for a brief second.

"Fucking idiot." I mumbled and heard her laugh.

"I'll text you the address." She spoke.

"Thank you Maisie Findlay."

"You're welcome Mr. Norris."

"I love it when you call me that." I raised my eyebrows smiling.

"I know." She chuckled.

"I'll see you in a bit."

"Hurry up before he starts singing."

"I will." I laughed.

Maisie's POV:

There was a knock on the door.

"I'll get it." I spoke looking at them and Chi nodded as she brushed her fingers through Carlos' hair.

I opened the door and saw Lando standing on the other side.

"Hey." He smiled raising his eyebrow slightly.

"Hey." I smiled back, holding the door with both hands. "Your friend is over there." I stepped back and he walked in.

"Thank you." He followed me with his eyes and I raised my eyebrows closing the door, not breaking the eye contact.

Lando walked towards Carlos and Chi.

"Chi, thank you for taking care of my stupid idiot of a friend." Lando spoke and Chi chuckled.

"Lando, deja de joder un rato." Carlos spoke, his Spanish slipping out. Lando looked at him offended.

"Hey, I know that that means." He spoke and Chi and I laughed. "Come on, let's go."

Lando leaned down, helping Carlos up who groaned in discomfort.

"Come on buddy." Lando wrapped on of his arms around his neck yo support him.

"Take care of him." Chi spoke and Lando nodded.

"I always do." He replied and Chi smiled softly.

They walked towards the door and I opened it for them.

"It was nice seeing you before you leave." Lando turned to me and I smiled.

"Don't miss me too much." I joked and he chuckled softly.

"I'll try." He replied and I looked down smiling. "You should've gone to the party, Oscar was wasted." He spoke and I laughed.

"That sounds like something I'd pay to see." I joked and he laughed. "Maybe next time."

"Next time it is then." He smiled raising his eyebrow.

"I said maybe." I remarked the word "maybe".

"Joder y yo pensaba que yo era obvio." Carlos spoke and Chi chuckled, I looked at them confused, not understanding.

"Let's go." Lando walked out with Carlos.

They walked out and I closed the door. I turned to look at Chi, she had a smile on her face.

"So...that was something." I spoke and she laughed. "Your smile says it all." I teased.

"Stop." She laughed.

"You didn't even smile like that when you met Nick Jonas." I spoke laughing and her laughter just increased.
