17| The Plane Ride

"You sure he got everything?" Kie asked as the four sat on the dock, John B breaking the news about the lack of gold now due to Ward Cameron.

"Every bar." John B sighed from where he laid out on the dock, "The whole enchilada."

"Stupid ass." Layla rolled her eyes, "He should be in jail for murder!"

"God, just shut up, Layla." John B complained out of exhaustion and annoyance, "No kidding, thank you for stating the obvious."

"Oh, you wanna talk stating the obvious?" Layla scoffed, her nerves getting the best of her suddenly, "Like the fact that Sarah isn't here when she should be, but instead in her house with a murderer?"

"God, I don't know what you want me to do! She didn't listen to me!" John B spoke in disbelief as he sat up and looked at Layla with a stupid look, "Any ideas?"

"I want you to fight harder for her, be a decent boyfriend!" Layla yelled back, waving her arms in disbelief, "She deserves better then you."

"What? Someone like you?" John B said suddenly as Layla went silent. JJ'a eyes widened as Kie looked between the pair.

"I'm sorry, what the hell are you talking about?" Kie asked, looking between the silent pair, "Someone say something!"

"What, you don't see it, Kie?" John B asked her as he nodded toward Layla, "The way she looks at her."

"Shut your mouth, John B! You don't know what the fuck you're talking about!" Layla yelled in disbelief, throwing her bandana around her wrist at him and turning on her heels.

"Layla, Layla!" JJ called out to her, "Come back, we don't need to split up right now!"

Layla ignored him though, ignored everyone as her emotions took over and she was suddenly sprinting off to the Cameron house. Because Sarah wasn't okay, and she would do absolutely anything to protect her.

"Sarah can't talk right now." Ward spoke as he stood in the door way, staring at Layla, "You need to go home, Layla, i'm sorry."

"I'm not going anywhere until I see her." Layla stated seriously as she stood her ground, "One minute, I just want to know she's okay."

"She's home, safe." Ward tried to reason, going to shut the door before Layla put her foot infront of it to stop it from shutting.

"I told you, i'm not going anywhere until I see her." Layla said, a glare on her face, "Or does my presence threaten you that much?"

"Layla." Ward stared, his jaw clenched, "You need to go."

Layla moved her food as he slammed the door. Layla laughed, taking loud stomps backwards until she yelled at the top of her lungs, "Sarah! Sarah! I'm down here! Sarah!"

Before Layla had the chance to react anymore, the door swung open and something hard collided with her face before she could even see what it had been.

The first thing Layla felt when she woke up was a vibration traveling through her whole body, then the throbbing pain in her head. It was worse then a migraine, it was as if her head was beaten on a wall multiple times. The vibrating feeling, it brought Layla back before the shouts of pain and agony filled her ears. Layla looked around as where she was started to move, seeing multiple black bags. The vibrating started again as the familiar sound traveled to her ears.

She'd then realized she was trapped in the back of an airplane.

"Let me out of here! Let me out! Let me out!" Layla panicked as she beat on the wall harshly, hearing the faint yelling on the other side, "Let me go! Please! Let me out!"

"Layla! Layla!" the shouts were more familiar then what she'd realized, connecting the voice with someone.

"Sarah!" Layla hollered loudly as she beat on the other side, "Sarah, get me out of here!"

"Dad, let her go! Let her go, please!" Sarah begged her father, still sobbing over the fact that he made her get into the plane and now had Layla trapped in the back. Layla beat on the other side in pain, continuing to yell in fear.

Layla took deep breaths, hitting the wall harder as panic crashed through her veins. She got to her feet, standing up just as the plane hit its breaks hard. Layla body flew backwards, hitting the ground first before crashing into the back wall. Layla groaned in pain as she held her shoulder, feeling it pop out of place. She panted, hitting the wall slightly as a small cry left her lips, "Sarah."

"Layla! Layla!" yells from the other side heard, the back door swinging open. Sarah cried as she reached in, helping Layla get out of the back of the plane as she hugged her and cried, "Are you okay? I'm so sorry, your head!"

"Shh, i'm okay." Layla shhed her softly, pushing the hair out of her face and whipping her eyes, "Are you okay? Did you dad hurt you?"

Before Sarah could answer, the familiar shouts of John B and Ward echoed from the other side. Layla and Sarah ran around the plane quickly. Sarah ran to him, pulling him out of her dads face and crying as she held his face.

"You locked me in the back of a plane!" Layla yelled in disbelief as she shoved the back of Wards shoulders harshly, making his stumble, "I can kill you!"

"Layla! Layla, stop!" Sarah called out, grabbing her good arm and pulling her toward her and John B.

"Get away from the-" Ward began as he tried to pull Sarah away.

"No, don't touch me!" Sarah yelled at him in disbelief, John B holding her back as Sarah held Layla, "And don't tell me what to do."

"You think this changes anything?" Ward asked as he stared at John B, the boy shielding both of the girls as the police car pulled up, "It doesn't."

"You gotta get out of here, you gotta go." Sarah panicked to John B.

"Go, i'll cover for you, I swear." Layla said as she tried to push John B away, he froze on spot as he looked at the cop that swung herself out of the car.

"Susan, I told you he lost his goddamn mind." Ward spoke to her as she stormed his way, "Brought the pastors daughter into all of it, she went crazy on us."

"Put your hands up." she stated.

"I'd do why she say, kids." Ward smirked over at Layla and John B.

"She's talking to you, Ward." John B stated as the sheriff pulled her gun out and aimed it at Ward.

"Hell yeah." Layla grinned at the sight.

"You're under arrest for the murder of Big John Rutledge." Susan stated as she held her gun out to Ward. Sarah gasped as she leaned into Layla, Layla held her slightly as John B did the same to both of them, "Put your hands on your head."

"Are you kidding me?" Ward yelled out.

"Put your hands on your head!" she yelled loudly back to him. Ward brought his hands up, laying them on his head, "Turn around!"

Ward turned around, facing the three once again. Sarah gapped at her father in disbelief, Layla's middle finger coming up his way.

"Drop to your knees!" the sheriff yelled as Ward did as he was told, slowly getting down to his knees with his hands on his head still. She crept forward and cuffed him, "I don't like being used. I waited a long time for this."

Ward suddenly fought against her, a harsh shove. Layla guarded John B and Sarah suddenly before Susan pulled out her gun and aimed it at Ward, making him pause. Layla shrieked in fear as the gunshot ran through the air, grabbing onto Sarah as the blonde shouted in fear.

Only to be met with the sheriff falling to her knees, blood forming along her chest, and Rafe coming out from behind the plane with a gun in his hand.

"Holy shit." Layla breathed out in disbelief, a sense of shock going through the whole air.

"Rafe. What did you do?" Ward asked as he looked toward the sheriff who fell back onto the hard ground.

Rafe laughed, "I saved you dad."
