NUMBER EIGHT.
So I don't have to go in depth laterโor get questions about plot holes/problems her powers createโthis is the basis of her healing/manipulating powers.ย GhostWriterGirl-1ย helped me figure these out, so big thanks to her!!
Latavia's powers are body manipulation/healing. Both of these work hand in hand with each other, but they also have separate things that go with them, which I explain down below.ย
HEALING ABILITIES: Latavia is a healer. She can mend injuries and get rid of illnesses (closing wounds, heal broken bones, stop fevers, etc). However, she does have limitations, as do any powers:
I. She can't bring people back from the dead if they died from a shot wound, stab wound; any kind of external wound. For example, if someone gets shot and immediately dies from where the bullet entered, Via wouldn't be able to heal them. They were gone before she could try. However, she can save people from dying if the person doesn't die on the spot (Ex: If someone gets stabbed in the abdomen, but it doesn't cause them to die immediately.ย Via has time to heal them and she has living particles to work with).ย
Simply, if someone is already dead from a wound when she gets there, Via can't reverse the finality of death. They were already dead.ย But, if they're on the verge of death, she can try because the wound hasn't killed them already. (I hope this all makes sense!)
II. Her healing powers require energy and concentration, which can lead to Via being rather exhausted after using them to an extent. The more severe (and/or larger) the injury, the more effort it takes for her to heal it. Which means, healing extensive or critical wounds can leave her physically and mentally drained. (Ex: think of how Eleven gets drained after using her powers in Stranger Things).ย
So, some diseases like cancer, (which spreads) would be more exhausting for Latavia to try and fix.ย
BODY MANIPULATIONย : With Via's healing ability, she has the ability to control a person's body to an extent. This is different from healing/fixing/mending. With enough concentration, she can alter the flow of blood, twist and break bones, or even manipulate organs from within (Exย : stopping a heart, cramping a muscle, etc). Reginald explored this power in many ways:
I. Latavia is able to control other people using her manipulation in a way. She can control their muscles and movements. This isn't her strongest suit, however. It takes energy to try and control someone's entire body to do something, which exhausts her.ย
II. Via can torture other people with her powers. By manipulating certain organs or parts, or the hormones and nerves that induce pain, she can cause intense physical or internal pain to a victim without leaving a mark on their body. Reginald would have Allison rumor Latavia into doing this to other academy members, if they so needed it.ย
But just like her healing, there's only so much she can do.ย
I. Once again, Via can't bring people back from the dead due to internal injuries. (Ex: If someone has a heart attack and dies, she can't just make their heart healthy again and bring them back). However, if someone is actively having a heart attack, she could try and help it stop. It's the same situation as internal injuries/healing. If they're already dead, she can't do anything.
II. Body manipulation exhausts her more than healing does, when it's done to an extent. Helping someone survive a heart problem by manipulating their heart would exhaust her much quicker than healing any wound. However, a simple manipulation doesn't do her damage (such as quickly stopping a heart instead of helping someone change their entire heart rhythm).ย ย
III. She can't control the brain/thinking. As much as Reginald tried to get her to do so, she is unable to control what people's actions are via their thoughts. She can move an arm, but she cannot make someone think of a certain thought/control their mind.
IV. She is capable of being rumored by Allison to hurt other people. Reginald used this when the children were younger. She can try her best to fight Allison's rumors, but it is capable that Number Three gets her to hurt someone against her will.ย
REGENERATIVE HEALING: Alongside her healing side of powers, Via herself possesses regenerative healing abilities that allow her to recover from most injuries at a more accelerated rate. She can heal her own cuts, bruises, broken bones, bullet-wounds, etc, at aย quicker speed than others. Limitations of this include:
I. Just like the other powers, the more severe her energy, the longer it will take for her to heal. This means she'd be using more energy, too. If she sustains many different injuries that she has to heal at once, they may take longer to do just due to the exertion and exhaustion her body is being put under from trying to heal everything. (Ex: Healing a broken bone take longer than healing a bullet wound.)
II. She can regenerate limbs, but it takes much time to do, especially on someone else. She strays away from using this power unless necessary, as it is time consuming.
AS A WHOLE: Latavia can do a lot with her powers, but there's limitations for everything.
I. Latavia is not immortal like Klaus. While she can save herself from fatal injuries, if they get to her faster than she can heal, she will die. That is that.ย
II. Going with not being immortal, certain wounds may be too fatal for Via to heal from. For example, if an organ such as her heart or her lungs is harmed or if she sustains a massive head injury, her regenerative abilities would be overwhelmed, which would lead to a struggle of trying to heal herself, and possibly death.
III. Stressful and overwhelming situations make her powers weaker. (Exย : If Latavia watched Diego get fatally shot and was so overwhelmed with the thought that he was dying, she may struggle to heal him from being so overwhelmed with emotion). It's a fatal flaw.ย This also follows with above's point that if she herself is injured enough, her powers will get overwhelmed.ย
IV. Via still feels pain like anyone else, and while she can heal from injuries, the process is not instantaneous or painless. The more severe the injury, the more pain she endures as her body repairs itself. Healing herself does cause her own body pain. (Ex: If she had to heal her own broken arm, it would be painful. More painful than healing a paper cut).ย
Any other questions about her powers or scenarios, ask! I'll try my best to answer, but I hope this helps!!ย
