LATAVIA HARGREEVES wasn't sure what it was like to be normal. 

To anyone who didn't know her last name, Latavia—or Via, as she always preferred—seemed like a normal almost thirty year old. She had her own apartment and paid rent, worked a 9-5 job almost every day of the week, paid all of her own bills and took care of herself. She was the nice lady who served doughnuts with a smile on her face. 

But Latavia knew otherwise. 

Normal people weren't born to mothers who had never been pregnant. Normal people weren't adopted by a raving eccentric billionaire mere hours after they were born. Normal people didn't have an umbrella tattooed on their wrist. Normal people didn't have six other siblings with powers. Normal people couldn't heal every wound they'd ever receive. Normal people didn't have the ability to stop someone's heart with the tilt of their head.

No, Latavia Hargreeves wasn't a normal person. She never had been, really.

Via was one of the 43 children born on October 1st, 1989—a day where 43 women simultaneously gave birth to children after having a bare womb mere moments beforehand. A day where 43 children mysteriously appeared; an enigma that was yet to be solved.

On that day, Sir Reginald Hargreeves—eccentric billionaire, known worldwide—plucked her and seven other children from around the world away from their mothers and to his home to create not a family, but a team. 

They were called the Umbrella Academy and were all assigned numbers instead of given names. 

From that day on, Latavia never had a chance at living a normal life. 

She didn't go to school like most kids, nor did she interact with anyone outside of her adopted siblings. Instead, Via was forced to kill animals and torture helpless victims using nothing but her mind. She was forced to be a subject, instead of a child. 

She was forced Number Eight instead of Via. 

Years later, Via is trying her best to live a normal live away from her powers, but ends up getting sucked right back into the shit-show that is the Umbrella Academy after returning home for her father's funeral, only to be met with her long lost brother spewing about how the world was indefinitely ending and only the Hargreeves family could stop it. 

Only problem? They had merely 10 days to do so.

in terms of the show, viktor will be referred to as 'vanya' up until his transition in s3, and will have she/her pronouns until then, too. i'll also try my best to write "he/they" pronouns for klaus, as i've just recently found out that's what he goes by! (i've never written pronouns like this, so i'll try my absolute best to get it correct!)

ALSO i'm formerly apologizing if at any point, hargreeves is spelled as hargreaves.....autocorrect always changes it to hargreaves and i never proof read!

MARA'S MISC......okay so like i promised myself no more new fics until i finished sighted and act three of ss BUT this book is an exception. everyone is in their tua era right now and i'm loving the surge of new fics/old books returning so i had to join. 

i had this book up maybe like a year ago??? but that was back when i never had motivation for anything and just let 99% of my books sit and collect dust. however, latavia is my tua bby and i'm going to try and do her some justice 

that being said, who knows how often i'll update. summertime sadness act three and sighted are my main books to finish, but you never know with me!!
