Will Byers and Steve Harrington (and why they're amazing)
Yes, these are two very different characters, but they both shine in their own ways, and yes, another one of these because I wanted to post about something on here. :)
WILL BYERS
Alright. This is going to sound biased because Will is one of my favorite characters, but he is amazing. Downright simple, this kid is a literal gem.
He was verbally abused as a child, as I stated in the last chapter. Even though he endured this, he turned out to be the sweetest boy ever. He was nice to everyone, a natural problem solver, and never once put anyone down for any mistake they made. He was never once like his father in any way, shape, or form, and that's amazing.
This kid deserves the freaking world. He was kidnapped by a monster at 13 and proclaimed dead, bullied by his peers for seemingly coming back to life, was possessed at 14, attached to a monster that was burrowing itself under the ground in Hawkins, felt all of the burning that the hive endured, and pulled through all of it somehow. All he has done the past two seasons is suffered, and he deserves so much better in the future.
And can we talk about his actor, Noah Schnapp? That kid is an icon. He cried the ugliest cry onscreen in a lot of scenes, but he rocked it. He had to fake getting possessed because there was nothing in front of him but a camera that spun around and a green screen. He had to act the shadow monster channeling through him and did it like a boss. Also, I'd like to mention that in season 2, episode 4 or 5 when he is seizing/convulsing, that was all him. No machines were used. That's crazy to me.
And that, my friends, is why Will Byers/Noah Schnapp is an amazing character/actor that should be talked about and praised because he deserves the world for all he's done.
STEVE HARRINGTON
With Steve, all of the little things he did add up.
He apologized for his mistakes and tried to bring Nancy flowers in season two even if he did nothing wrong.
The real change we saw in season one was when he showed that he legitimately cared for Nancy when him and his friends graffitied her name on the movie theater board and offered to help clean it after getting slapped by Nancy.
He has a crap dad but tried not to be like him in any way he could.
He cared for Nancy. Plain and simple. He didn't treat her like an object and was concerned when he thought Jonathan had hurt her towards the end of season one.
Backed off when Nancy said no/didn't give consent.
Risked his life for his friends without knowing what the hell was happening with the Demogorgon in season one.
Bought Jonathan a new camera after he broke Jonathan's old one and let Nancy take the credit.
Freaking protected four teenage kids against 20+ demodogs with a nail bat and rocked it like a boss.
He's a mom, and he cares about his kids and tries to prevent them from getting in trouble.
His character development guys! Wow!
Yep. That's why I absolutely love Steve's character. He totally redeemed himself from season one, and that's great.
Hope you enjoyed this one!
