I have a story to tell y'all and I'm still mad about it even if it happened 3-4 days ago.

So there's this kid in one of my classes, yeah? I don't know him very well but I do know this - he's a homophobe. Completely against LGBTQ+ and everything to do with it, and it gets on my nerves sometimes. He doesn't exploit his homophobia, but if he did, I wouldn't be able to handle it.

I get that - it's his beliefs, but he takes it to the EXTREME. Its 2018, dude. You're hating on a group of MILLIONS. It's just like why? Why? No person is inferior, even if they have a different sexual orientation or identify as a different gender than that written on their birth certificate. I don't understand - what happened to everyone being equal?

It wasn't that big of a deal until Monday. There's this transgender kid in my class - his pronouns are he/him and he wishes to be called by that. He has a new name, too, and he's been called by that for forever.

So this homophobe comes back into the picture. We'll call the homophobe Justin and we'll call the transgender kid Henry. Alright, so Henry is in front of Justin and this exchange happens - it literally baffled me how disrespectful Justin was being.

Basically, what happened was that Justin called Henry by his former name and refused to acknowledge his declared pronouns. To sum it up, he called Henry Henrietta and referred to him as a her right in front of Henry.

Like, dude, stop. He clearly stated his pronouns and I get your beliefs, but seriously, take a step back. That hurts. I know it might not get in your pea sized brain, but that hurts. That's disrespectful. For all transgender people go through, you treat them like that?

Ugh.

It hurt me, and I wasn't even the one receiving it. I just happened to overhear the conversation and it quickly sunk in - I'm just in awe. I can't believe that happened. I've never seen someone that goes to that extreme of homophobia in my life, let alone ever met a homophobe like that - it baffles me. I'm an uncultured human for that and I know - it's just crazy. Wow. I have no words... I wanted to slap Justin because that hurt, it was disrespectful and mean. Just wow.

Alright, before I go on forever about how homophobes shouldn't exist in this day and age and get even more mad, I'll stop here.
