Snorkeling Fail
I tried to go snorkeling today, but it failed. Big time.
So we start with the fact that I couldn't see squat. The website said that it was 18-20 feet of visibility and the water was about that deep, and the picture looked nice - nope.
I couldn't even get a clear picture on my GoPro thingy, which was held almost to the bottom of where we were swimming in. It was FOUR feet of water, not 18-20, we couldn't even get out that far because we couldn't even see 6 inches past our faces.
The beach was gross. There was seaweed EVERYWHERE. It stunk, the sand was very coarse, and there were bugs crawling in the water.
The place was rocky, as it was supposed to be, but when you can't see where you're going, that's not a good thing. I tripped countless times on my way to find the good snorkeling spot (which we never found) and cut my ankle four times. It was bleeding all the way back to the hotel and still stings, even 6 hours later.
We had to buy masks under the circumstances that we are in now, and they were iffy. Mine was unreasonably tight and still let water in. I choked on salt water countless times because of how the snorkel was. It was rough.
My camera died, too. Or so I thought. It turned off mid-video and I got 3 minutes of footage (probably of just a murky green image) before it told me that the SD card was full. I was kind of mad by this point.
Hey - even though it was a bad experience, at least we tried snorkeling. I just hope we'll have better luck next time.
