jealousy.
— out of public.
feat. Ni-Ki
as the group continued preparing for their second comeback, SungHoon had received the exciting news of his chance to become a MusicBank MC, seeing as SooBin and Arin's contracts were coming to their ends.
after much consideration, the boy had decided to accept the offer, not knowing which idol he'd be paired with.
NaRi was happy for him, as any sane person would be— he was one of her best friends, on top of them being bandmates as well— it'd be a good way for him to venture off and make new friendships as the boys were always so tolerant of her doing.
"Hoon! you have a message!" rang through the dorm, SungHoon popping into the kitchen where the girl and two of the guys were eating. he opened his phone, reading the email he'd received from M2's staff team. he read through the email, eyes widening after a few seconds.
the three watching him's eyes morphed into pits of slight confusion, having slowed their chewing as they waited for the boy to say what he'd read.
"hyung? what'd it say?" the maknae asked, said member finally lifting his eyes from the screen to the members.
"i know who my partner is now!" he excitedly said, the others rushing into the room upon hearing his words.
"really?!"
"who is it?!"
"NO WAY!"
these were the only words exclaimed through the other six boys as they continued to wait to be told.
NaRi's mind had immediately gone elsewhere, though she quickly fought the negative thoughts off. not now
SungHoon waited until the boys all seized their noise, "IZ*ONE WonYoung 선배님," he said, the other seven's eyes all widening in shock.
"no way, hyung!"
"that's so cool!"
"she's pretty,"
"that's such a cool pair!"
"yay, hyungie!" she exclaimed, mustering the best ( fake ) happiness she could convey.
the boy spent the rest of the day happy, the complete opposite of what a certain someone felt.
to everyone's knowledge, NaRi was possibly the world's luckiest K-POP stan. the girl supported many, many groups, however IZ*ONE never secured their spot on that list. sure, she casually listened to highly admired girl group, as everyone at one point or another has, however they never caught her attention as other groups did.
she knew the basics— the members, where they were from, and their most popular songs. she's also, occasionally, watched some of their contents.
she also, of course, realized how insanely beautiful their all-rounder maknae was— of course she did, how couldn't she?
she found herself in a spot she never thought she'd be again, emotional, like the last time.
i hope he's not the one to walk in this time, that'd be embarrassing.
she muffled her laugh, the noise which escaped her at how utterly pathetic she knew she looked.
it felt like the worst case of déjà vu— the scene which took place months prior flashing before her eyes in broad daylight, except this time she actually noticed the tears trailing down her cheeks.
she sadly smiled at her reflection, once again marveling at how foolish she looked, and felt. she scoffed at herself, at her mind— cursing the organ for whatever it had going on up there.
i'm not even half as pretty
wish i were her,
but how could i hate her?
she's such an angel
she thought at how pathetic the members would think of her if they caught her saddened state, bitterly chuckling.
she's got you all mesmerized,
wish i were her.
she didn't even fully understand why she felt so upset over the situation— as far as she knew, WonYoung was one of the sweetest girls you could ever come across— why?
a sudden voice knocked her from her thoughts—
"he- jagi? what's wrong? why are you crying?" Ni-Ki's voice rang through the vanity room, NaRi jumping from fright.
she reached up to wipe away her flow of tears, though the boy's hands were quicker, holding her own down.
he searched for her eyes, eventually grabbing a light hold of her chin to catch her eyes.
"why?" he gently asked, NaRi looking everywhere but him.
he brought his face even closer to her own, noses touching.
"why?" he asked, tone the slightest bit more harsh, though still gentle.
she finally met his eyes, shameful.
he pressed a kiss on her nose, now holding her head with both hands on either side.
"why, jagi?"
she breathed out, slightly puffing her cheeks. he laughed, knowing she wasn't gonna give him the reason any time soon.
"jagi~ you know i can't help if you don't say~"
"i'd rather keep it like that,"
the boy playfully glared at the girl, letting his gaze sit on her features a bit longer than needed.
she noticed, turning red under his stare.
"stop," she mumbled, the boy's eyebrows furrowing.
"why would i do that?" he stopped for a second, leaning his head to the side, similar to how a dog does when it pays attention to your voice, "you're so pretty, jagi,"
she huffed out once again, "not as pretty as WonYoung 선배," she nearly silently mumbled,
nearly.
Ni-Ki was about to compliment the girl again, however stopped once her words registered in his brain. "what?"
she went silent again.
he leaned back from his previous position, still holding her face with both hands. she looked down again, Ni-Ki still confused.
"baby, what did you say?"
she felt tears begin to well in her eyes again, Ni-Ki catching it. he pouted, bringing her face towards his chest. he rubbed her head, her first tears quickly coming out.
"i said i'm not as.. pretty as WonYoung 선배," she mumbled, the boy's heart breaking at her weakened voice.
she's been doing so well. what happened?
he brought her face to look him in the eye once more, voice suddenly serious.
"Mireia NaRi Arredondo Kim. you are one of, no- you are the most beautiful girl i have ever laid my eyes upon, hm? why do you not think you're as pretty as she is?"
she silently huffed for the third time, voice a bit clearer.
"when Hoon hyungie told us who his partner is, you all were so excited for him, and don't get me wrong, i am too,"
"but?"
"what if i get replaced?"
"Moon, what?" a third voice suddenly entered the space, NaRi's eyes widening as she attempted to escape her seat.
SungHoon had walked by, texting a school friend when he heard NaRi's words, not believing his ears.
Ni-Ki watched as she tried escaping his light hold on her, the girl ultimately giving up. she silently groaned, crossing her arms in slight frustration, knowing she'd be unable to conceal her feelings any longer.
Ni-Ki stepped out of the room, leaving the two alone.
SungHoon sat in front of the girl, her gaze once again placed on everything besides the boy in front of her.
he stared at her for a few seconds, noticing her fidgeting. he grabbed a hold of her hands, rubbing figures on them as an aid.
"Moon, what?" he repeated a second time, NaRi still refusing to give him her attention.
he repeated the motion Ni-Ki had done earlier, bringing her face to meet his own.
"why would you ever think that, Moon?" he asked, voice gentle.
she involuntarily met his gaze, hesitantly shrugging as an answer.
"no, you do know,"
after a few seconds, she lightly nodded, feeling ashamed.
"why?"
"because.. she's so," she began, making a mini big motion with her arms,
"and i'm just," she let her arms fall at her sides.
"Moon, why would you ever think i'd be able to replace you?"
she pouted in order to keep herself from crying again.
"yeah, sure, she's pretty, but Moon— my heart has grown to love and cherish you since the day we met as trainees, you know that?"
her eyes remained traced on the floor.
"i don't think i'll ever be able to love someone as much as i do you, Moon, truly. you're.. to me, you're heavenly. everything about you, every single little, tiny, miniscule, microscopic, thing about you, i love so, so, so much, Moon," he said, voice a tone she'd never heard before.
a stray tear trailed down her cheek, SungHoon tenderly wiping it away. he leaned in, placing a lingering kiss where it'd been.
and again, on the other cheek.
and again, on her forehead.
and her chin. and her nose. and both her eyes. and her dimple. and her hands.
he eventually leaned in, placing his face in her neck, wiggling around, landing multiple kisses on it, tickling her. she giggled, causing the boy to chuckle.
he moved back, the girl finally meeting his eyes.
"don't ever think i'll love another girl as much as i love you, Moon, okay?"
she gently smiled, giving him an indirect answer. "i'm sorry, hyungie," she whispered, SungHoon shaking his head.
"you don't have to be, Na,"
she nodded, disagreeing with the older.
he scrunched his nose, smiling, also shaking his head.
"you've got me, don't worry," he said, referencing their co-written song, causing a smile to appear on her face.
new.
( sort of part 2 to jealousy )
— in public, off camera.

"can i go with you to your new job?" she asked, eyes full of hope and cutely crinkled as she looked up at the older boy.
SungHoon stopped fixing his bag, looking up to see the smaller girl, hands clamped together with a boxy smile. he chuckled, walking towards her, planting a kiss on her forehead.
"i'd say no because you'd get bored, but i know you won't, so yes, you can come with me, Moon," he responded, the girl wooping before running out to change.
SungHoon's eyes chased after her, smiling as she left his range of vision.
the pair, after the boys screamed and whined of her leaving, left the house with their manager, on their way to the company.
NaRi held the boy's hand throughout the car ride, at one point having felt his hands shake.
her eyes trailed towards his face, noticing he was spaced out. she lightly smiled, able to sense his nervousness. she brought his hand up towards her lips, pressing a lingering kiss on the backside of his palm. the sensation awakened his senses, bringing his attention to the small girl sat beside him. he lightly smiled, NaRi returning the expression,
"you're gonna be great, hyungie, don't be nervous,"
he allowed her words to lightly sink in, nodding afterwards, "thank you, Moon,"
the ride lasted another few minutes, SungHoon's eyes filling with wonder, mixed with anxiety. NaRi smiled as she let her eyes fall on the tall company building, their manager eventually knocking them out of their thoughts.
a MusicBank staff member was waiting at the door when the pair arrived, SungHoon holding the door open for NaRi as the young girl stepped in.
"oh, NaRi? i didn't think i'd see you so soon," the young female staff member said, the girl smiling.
"surprise, 언니, you'll be stuck with me, too, today," she smiled, the older simply laughing at her words.
soon after arriving at the KBS building, NaRi was shown to SungHoon's new dressing room, which, much to her surprise, was SooBin's old one.
"oh! it's hyungies old room!" she quietly exclaimed, already having the space mapped out in her mind.
she sat on the small couch as SungHoon changed after getting his hair and makeup done, the boy putting final touches on himself before the stylists fixed any other part of his look.
the girl looked up from her phone, seeing the small flashes of insecurity beam from his orbs.
she put her phone down, making grabby hands for only a few seconds before catching the boy's attention. his eyes shifted from his reflection in the mirror to the small girl, lightly smiling, "want something, Moon?"
"you, hyung, c'mere," she said, the boy making his way towards her.
he stood in front of her seat, NaRi making a 'down' signal with her hands. he chuckled, obeying her command, crouching so he was making eye contact with the girl.
she finally let go of her straight face, smiling, causing him to do so once again. "yes, love?" he asked, the pair making eye contact.
NaRi leaned in, pecking both of his cheeks, his forehead, his nose, his chin, and his eyes. the boy simply watched as she did so, waiting a few seconds before speaking when she'd finished.
"oh? what was that for, Moon?"
"i wanted to help with your stress, hyungie, i could tell you're nervous.. but like i said before! you don't have to be because i know you're gonna do a~ma~zing!" she smiled, hands now somehow squeezing his cheeks together.
he smiled at the girl, leaning in to place a lingering kiss on her nose, "thank you, Moon. i love you,"
"SungHoon-씨! we need you out here, please!" suddenly sounded from the other side of the door.
"i love you too, hyungie, i'll be watching from in here!"
NaRi was then forced— no, advised to stay in SungHoon's dressing room until he was able to return.
she never listens and these men don't control her.
as soon as SungHoon and his new MC partner were taken to the MuBank studio to practice their lines, there was a little brown girl with curly dark brown hair walking around the building, already somehow finding some of her closest girl friends.
"JUDY 언니!" her voice excitedly rang through the hallway, a certain brown-haired female turning around in an instant, recognizing the only person to call her that.
"Na! hi, honey!" Lia exclaimed, turning around along with her members to encase the smaller girl in a hug.
once it came time for ITZY to interview with the pair, SungHoon's nervous eyes widened in delight upon seeing his female member walk in with the girls, the MuBank staff chuckling while she walked behind camera with them.
the girl showed a small thumbs up to the male, Park smiling before the countdown began. her eyes unknowingly trailed beside him, making quick eye contact with his partner, NaRi's heart beginning to race thanks to the sudden fear.
as the interview progressed, and NaRi attempted to maintain her focus on silently cheering on her member, her mind wouldn't seize the endless possibilities of what could occur between her and the girl— but why?
the interview finally came to an end, NaRi leaving the studio as soon as the doors opened. she calmly walked back towards the small room, in great contrast to the way she was able to hear her lifeline so closely.
she sat on the black leather couch, easing her nerves by scrolling through whatever app was nearest.
a few minutes passed, the door softly opening. "Moon?" her ears suddenly opened with the soft calling of her name.
she looked up, making eye contact with the Park boy who'd his head peeking inside, as if afraid to intrude.
"hi, hyungie!" she greeted, smiling.
"hi, Moon," he smiled in return, though the way her name left his lips made her uneasy feeling return.
"what's up?"
he chuckled, "there's someone i'd like you to meet, is that okay?"
her eyes widened, heart once again thumping once she immediately realized who he was talking about.
"um, sure?" she whispered, wearily smiling.
the boy noticed her uneasy expression, able to sense the negative feelings running through her system. he looked back, said something she wasn't able to make out, and quickly shuffled into his dressing room.
he stood in front of her, holding her hands as she stood before him as well, "i wanted you to meet WonYoung. we haven't gotten to know eachother that well, but i think her getting to know you before she does me will be beneficial. i also want you to be at ease when you can't come with me because of our individual schedules, okay?" he softly spoke, the image of NaRi crying over her fear of somehow being replaced still fresh in his mind.
she nodded after a bit, softly smiling.
his eyes lit up at her okay. "i'll get her!"
he walked out of the room, asking WonYoung to go inside.
a few seconds passed, a soft knock sounding on the door.
"come in," NaRi called out, unknowing to the fact that the other girl was just as nervous as she was.
her eyes fell upon the lighter-skinned, way taller female— instantly shocked by her ethereal visuals. do i have room for another friend?
the slightly older girl's eyes fell upon the now standing figure, reciprocating the same internal feelings.
"it's nice to meet you, 선배님," NaRi greeted, repeatedly bowing at the girl.
WonYoung's eyes creased as she smiled, returning the greeting. "it's very nice to meet you, NaRi, i've seen and heard so much about you.. i hope we can become friends outside of work!" her cheerful yet still voice soothed NaRi almost instantly, a genuine smile finding it's place on the girl's face.
SungHoon felt it was the right time to walk into his dressing room— shocked at the sight before him.
"uh.. guessing it went well?"
NaRi looked up, "if you upset 언니 you're a dead man."
WonYoung's eyes found their way towards the boy as well, "if i hear from Nanie that you're the reason she's upset, you're a dead man."
SungHoon's eyes trailed up, staring off as if there was a camera recording the events taking place.
"what have i done?"
other.
"..what are you-"
"they've been sitting here for TWO HOURS looking at themselves."
*both of them look up, offended*
"liar, it's only been five minutes,"
"and.. we're doing our makeup.."
*while they're laying together*
"you're so pretty,"
"no you,"
"no, you,"
"no-"
"NEITHER OF YOU GUYS ARE PRETTY PLEASE BE QUIET"
"did you just call NaRi ugly?"
"did you just call SungHoon hyung ugly?"
"their selca has been up for two minutes and it's our most liked tweet."
"did you hear what Sun just said? kinda weird,"
"mhm.. he's been off lately,"
*Sunoo, being stared at by the two sitting in front of him* "i.. haven't said anything all day.."
"wow! it speaks!"
*applause*
🦇 ... 끝!
