aid.

preparing for their second comeback had already been hectic enough with NaRi's return, Sunoo didn't care to bother the boys with the supposedly calmed-down pain shooting through the right side of his body.

the bleached-haired boy walked through the door of the practice room, taking a deep breath when even walking felt too much to bear.

today was also NaRi's second day back at the company, so he could only pray his body would calm down on its own so the girl's spotlight wouldn't be taken from under her nose.

he sat his bag in it's usual spot on the ground, slowly moving towards the members to stretch for the two hour long practice they had scheduled for the morning.

he smiled as he watched NaRi stretch, an in-life sight he'd been deprived of for nearly two months.

the group soon began their practice, Sunoo biting the inside of his cheek when the choreography called for him to lean his entire body weight on his right leg— the boy temporarily closing his eyes in order to bear the pain.

NaRi watched his face with concern, noticing how rapidly his leg had begun to twitch.

the song finished after what felt like eternity for the boy, though he'd decided to keep his pain undiscovered by the trainer, as the last thing he felt he needed was a break from learning the choreography.

the trainer stayed in the room with them for a while longer before allowing Ni-Ki and NaRi to take over, as they usually did during group practices, Sunoo internally sighing in relief.

the maknaes gave the group a short break, the Kim boy attempting to sit without completely breaking himself in the process.

NaRi watched with concerned eyes once noticing his slight limp, flinching when she heard the sound of his body crashing onto the hard floor. Sunoo sighed, concealing his wince from the pain.

she carefully walked towards the boy, "are you okay, Soo?" the girl asked in a quiet voice, though it still managed to scare Sunoo. he weakly smiled at her, "i'm okay, Nana, don't worry,"
she stood over him for a few seconds, attempting to read through his slightly clouded eyes. his bright, though feigned, smile just barely tricked her into believing his lie. she patted his head, walking back towards the 02z as they were calling for her.

practice resumed a few minutes later, the members lightly groaning as they'd walked back in front of the mirror.

Sunoo watched his reflection as he danced, accidentally tripping over his foot a few seconds before the end of the song.

NaRi caught when the boy had fallen, rushing over to the older as JungWon ran to stop the music.

her eyes widened once she reached him, her calling of his name not waking him from whatever'd happened.

"No?" she asked, pushing his dyed hair away from his sweaty forehead. her fingers ran through his hair, as that was something that always helped her, "sunshine?"

she officially began freaking out when her fingers moving through his scalp didn't help wake him, her eyes widening when the thought of him having passed out finally registered.

NaRi told the boys to move away from the two, using the first aid tactics she'd learned years ago.

she listened in upon opening his mouth for the second time, about to perform mouth to mouth when she felt his chest move the slightest bit.

at this point, HeeSeung had brought over the small oxygen tank the staff members had decided to keep in the room, though NaRi motioned for the eldest to keep it away, hoping Sunoo would regain consciousness on his own.

the members watched for a few seconds, noticing the boy's body slowly begin to move on its own. NaRi still held him in her arms, smiling widely upon seeing the boy's slowly opening eyes.

she waited for Sunoo to start looking around before speaking, still in a soft voice, "you okay?" she began to lightly thread her fingers through his hair.

Sunoo almost instantly recognized the voice, leaning into the younger girl's hold, "누나," his hoarse voice just barely sounded, NaRi's eyes widening when she realized he hadn't called her Nana— like she'd thought he did.

she let it go for now, motioning for the boys to run and get the company's nurse.

the pair stayed like that for a while, the Kim boy soon able to drink water and sit up on his own.

she rubbed his back as she sat by him, "what happened, Sun?"

he sighed, "i don't wanna say,"

she nodded in understanding, "you'll have to tell me eventually,"

later in the day they returned home, NaRi deciding to stick closely behind the older boy in case he were to pass out again.

the girl followed the Kim boy into the living room, sitting beside him as he turned on the TV.

he eventually sighed, hating the lingering, guilty feeling that resonated inside of him. he turned his body towards the girl, NaRi slowly turning her head to focus on him.
"wanna tell me now?"

the boy smirked, "look at you, being so concerned for my health,"
NaRi slapped his shoulder, the boy yelping as he grabbed onto the 'injured' spot.
"don't make me regret this."

Sunoo giggled, leaning his head towards the girl's shoulder. she chuckled, giving up with her feigned annoyance.

she reached her hand towards his scalp for the nth time that day, Sunoo delicately leaning towards her touch.

"so many people have been leaving so many comments lately.. about my eating habits, my weight.. how i'm not as masculine seeming as the other guys.." his voice trailed off with every passing syllable, threatening to break.

her heart instead took the torch, cracking at realizing her obliviousness to his hurting. "Sun.."

he lightly chuckled, "it's funny. i never let those things get to me in school.. but now, it's so different,"

she stayed quiet, fingers never halting their soothing movements as she knew he had more to let off his mind.

"and, i dunno. maybe they're all right, maybe that's how everyone sees me yet you all cover it up by telling me, lying to me, and saying i'm cool when i'm.. not,"

NaRi sighed, picking his head up with her hands, holding his face close to her own.

Sunoo's sad eyes turned mischievous, as they often did when around the girl. "what? you gonna kiss me like you and Wonie did?"

her eyes widened, stopping her motivational, genius-like speech she'd planned in her mind only seconds before, staring at the boy in front of her with scared eyes.

"how'd you.. uh.. know..?" her voice had slowed down, eyes glaring at the Kim boy.

he chuckled, refusing to move his face from her warm hands, "he told me."

her eyes widened even more, if that was even possible, as Sunoo watched her with amused eyes, chuckling never seizing.

minutes of his delighted sounds passed, NaRi's mind continuing to run haywire. she soon knocked out of it, Sunoo calming down at the same time.

"i was gonna say something so genius.. but you ruined it." she said, words laced with resentment.

his eyes transformed into crescents, "i feel better now. thank you, Nana. i love you."

her eyes turned half love-filled, content with her achievement.

though it never ends with only love with these two.

her hands were still holding the boy's face, her fingers moving to his ear to lightly pinch it.

"ow! bitch!"

she giggled, running away as he began chasing her through the door, "i love you, too!"

diary

it was a peaceful morning ( afternoon ), NaRi locked away in her pink-hued studio, working on a love-themed song.

the girl heard a faint knock on the door, taking her headphones off, waiting for another to make sure it wasn't a mere figment of her sleep-deprived imagination.

sure enough, another series of knocks sounded a few seconds later.

thanks to the allowance from her ASTRO hyungs, she'd been able to get a ring doorbell— clicking on the network on her laptop to see who was outside her door.

she came face to face with the blonde headed member, faintly smiling before buzzing him inside.

"hi, Nana," he greeted as he closed the door behind him, walking towards her couch.

she turned around, showing a light smile as she watched the boy hugging a panda plushie she had. "hi, hyung,"

the pair sat in comfortable silence, as they sometimes did. a spark of sudden curiosity lit inside of Sunoo's mind, wondering what the mini, squash orange coloured notebook sat beside her contained. from his viewpoint, the pages looked worn out, as if it were one of her songwriting notebooks—

those always look so brand new, though

even if he knew it was wrong, the rational part of his mind lagged far too long, his legs involuntarily moving upward to be able to reach the notebook with his outreached arm.

the girl's back was turned to him, and the notebook, as she was playing various melodies on her keyboard in attempt to find the perfect match for her new creation.

Sunoo's quick hand was able to silently retrieve the earth-toned journal, hiding the cover behind the panda he'd been holding onto, pretending to still be engaged on his personal device.

his eyes trailed up to look at the girl, making sure she was still distracted before opening the front cover, internally, playfully evilly smiling as his eyes moved downward, reading the first words scribbled on the page.

unfortunately, the first page was a mix of Spanish and Mandarin— both languages he had yet to pick up any of the non-basic components of. he quietly sighed, fingers flipping the page.

he'd eventually found the Korean section, giggling at the girl's words, this action finally catching NaRi's attention.

"did Ni-Ki say something?" she asked, as that was usually the reason for the boy's humour-produced sounds.

his cheekbones rose upon realizing she could easily see him reading her innermost, unspoken thoughts, though the rush made him feel.. good.

he nodded, feigning agreement to her words. "he said something to Hee hyung, he just told me what happened after,"

"what happened?" she asked, back still turned to him, though she was now focused on her computer.

he knew she was fully listening to what he was saying, cheeks lightly flushing before coming up with a lie, "hyung told him he'd send him back to Japan if he said something like that again," the boy smoothly said, NaRi giggling in response.

he breathed out in relief, accidentally moving the papers together when he tried flipping it again.

the small noise caught NaRi's attention, though she thought he'd gotten a book to read while he sat with her. her hand reached for her songwriting notebook, which always sat beneath her diary she'd yet to tell anyone besides NamJoon, who'd bought it for her, about.

her eyes widened upon not seeing the squash orange pop of colour on top of the black notebook, the girl beginning to look around for it.

Sunoo noticed her sudden change in movement, glancing up to see her eyes as wide as saucepans.

"what's wrong?"

"have you seen a... like, little orange notebook? it was on my desk but.." she trailed off, looking on the floor beneath her desk for it.

Sunoo feigned concern, acting as if he was helping her look for the book as well.

he attempted to hide the book beneath the panda plushie, standing before moving towards her album shelf and other surrounding areas.

he moved back towards the couch as she looked behind her, NaRi's eyes catching the rusty coloured cover when he'd sat down.

her eyes flickered towards the boy, slightly glaring. "i saw that."

"saw what?" he asked, lips turning to a pout in question.

"give me my journal back, please,"

he chuckled, "i don't have your-"

"if you still want a dick you'll give it back to me." she said in Spanish, though the growing fury in her now darkened orbs defied all language barriers between the pair.

he gulped, about to give her the book back when the demon on his shoulder spoke to him. run out with it

like always, he didn't give it a second thought, and listened to the voice. he teasingly smiled, throwing the oversized panda plushie at the girl as he ran out of her studio.

"bitch!" she yelled out, chasing after him through the halls of the company.

the pair giggled like children as they continued their spree, NaRi stopping in front of every employee as she greeted them with a bow, quickly returning to the task at hand— about twenty times.

Sunoo ran into a men's restroom, knowing the usually fearless girl would never dare to step into one. he giggled in victory upon hearing NaRi's exasperated sigh from outside the door, hardly attempting to catch his breath before his fingertips found home on the individual pages, starting to read through the scribbled-on papers once again.

his giggles were short-lived upon coming across a.. letter? his eyes frowned as he attempted understanding the girl's print-like English writing.

to my beloved ethan lee,

he smiled upon reading the girl referring to the eldest by his adopted English name.

more words had been written, though were now incomprehensible because of the scribbles she'd aimlessly drawn across the page. he flipped it over, the letter having seemed to continue being addressed to the eldest, though the scribbles only continued.

he turned four more times before coming across Jay's, and then Jake's, and SungHoon's, and JungWon's, and Ni-Ki's.

he frowned, beginning to think she hadn't written one of whatever these were for him.

the boy was about to leave the cubicle he'd locked himself in before a bright pink sticky note stuck on the next page caught his eye.

he turned the page, finding the letter to be the most legible, and in Korean.

to my sunshine <3

his eyes widened, beginning to believe she'd written it to one of their seniors.

there are no words in any language that describe how much i love and feel for you. even if i may not show it 24/7 like i do with the members, i pray you're always aware of the care i feel for you.

you hold such a special, irreplaceable place in my heart, Sun. even if it seems like i want to chase you down and punch the hell out of you, i love you.

i feel sorry for not telling you that enough. i feel sorry when i see comments saying i don't treat you like i do the others. i feel sorry when i notice it.

Kim Seon Woo, i love you.

when or if you find this letter, i hope the pain you may or may not feel soothes. i'm sorry for what i've done, if it's happened and you're looking for what to say at my funeral.

i sit here, wishing i would've gotten the chance to sit with you, converse about life and your aspirations and wildest dreams... if this isn't, in fact, my end, i hope to do that with you soon.

thank you a million times for all you've done for me and the team. you've got a bright ass future ahead of you, please never let anyone steal the spotlight that's always on you. you're perfect as you are, don't think any different.

see you.. whenever.

— NaNa.

tears were falling down his cheeks at this point, realizing what the point of her writing these seperate letters were for.

he unlocked the cubicle, internally praying for the girl to be outside.

sure enough, as soon as he stepped foot outside the room, he heard NaRi's voice.

"why would you-" she began, however her angry rant was cut off upon seeing the visible tears cascading down the boy's rosy cheeks. "hey, hey, what's wrong?" she asked, eyes turning concerned.

he held up the book, where his fingers held the page with the sticky note open. the girl froze in her spot, cursing herself for not scribbling all seven notes out.

"thank you for not leaving me." he said, voice quietened, the boy preventing all possible cracking. NaRi watched as he looked down after he spoke, his eyes shutting tightly for a split second, more tears falling with the small, habitual action.

"what do you-" she started, hoping she could somehow convince him otherwise.
"i read the letter, Na.." he breathed out, taking a second to collect himself, "thank you for not leaving me."

the tone which his voice carried made NaRi's heart flurish with contentment, the girl returning a small smile. "thank you for being you."

__________

why'd you call me...

for the past few days, one, lone word had been running around the girl's mind.

누나.

a word semi foreign to her— as she was the baby in all of her male friend groups. the name would only be used by their maknae, however that was only when he wanted something.

why would a boy, 2 years older than her, call her that?

"hey, Sun?" she called out, walking into the vanity room where Sunoo had been.

he turned from the mirror, "yeah?"

"why'd you call me 누나 the other day?"

he froze at her bluntness, awkwardly chuckling after a minute of pure silence. "i don't know what you're talking about?" he finally said, the girl rolling her eyes.

"c'mon, Sun.."

he sighed, "it's embarrassing."

she shook her head, "it's not,"

"yes it is! you're two years younger than me.."

NaRi looked at the boy, "i call Hee hyung 아빠 sometimes.. he's only three years older than i am," she said, shrugging.

"well that's different,"

she could tell he was embarrassed. "it's only embarrassing if you make it embarrassing, Sun," the girl spoke in a gentle voice.

he sighed, deciding to tell her after another moment of silence. "you.. the way you take care of me when i'm sick or not feeling well," he began, trailing off.

"yeah?"

he sighed again, not believing he was admitting this to anyone but himself. "you act like my 누나 when you do that.. so i kinda.."

even though he hadn't finished his sentence, she understood what he was trying to say.

she lightly smiled, bringing him into a hug from behind, "thank you."
