Distance makes the heart grow fonder. Or it essentially makes you crave what's so far away from you. It allows you to realise just how lucky you are or even how stupid you've been. And in this case, it had been almost two weeks since Honey moved to Forks and she was missing her aunt. She was missing Tuesday Chinese take out nights watching reality TV and laughing at the overdramatic celebrities. She missed Thursday activity night when they would go and do random hobby classes like painting or pottery just for the hell of it. But phone calls every Sunday was what she was left with and she used them to tell her aunt about her adventures in Forks, Washington.

During the two weeks, Bella had been going out to hang out with a friend of her own leaving Honey to fend for herself. Honey didn't mind too much, she didn't come to Forks to be completely attached to Bella's hip so separation wasn't a bad thing so long that Bella was actively going out and doing things rather than drowning in her sorrows in her room. Honey had been using this time to catch up on her classes at Forks High Schools where she had finally met Angela Webber, Mike Newton, Eric Yorkie, Tyler Crowley and Lauren Mallory. They all liked Honey from the moment they met her, partly due to Jessica's kind words about the blonde.

Angela Webber had been the one to stand out in the small crowd, she was a smart young woman with a kind smile. Angela had volunteered to tutor Honey until she was all caught up and this led to many sleepovers. Mike Newton was clearly the boy who hyperfixated intensely on those who did not return the desire. He didn't shy away from flirting with Honey even in front of Jessica who was clearly affected by it. Honey brushed it off and ignored it, she found Mike to be a little too much and it was clear that he only got with Jessica because Bella was unavailable before breaking it off with Jessica the moment Bella was available.

Eric was polite but definitely lovesick on Angela, they were perfect for each other and he tended to distract Mike from his flirting. Tyler and Lauren were kind but they were too focused on themselves to pay any mind to what was happening at the table. Though Tyler had made a comment about how he was happy that Bella seemed to be doing better than before. The group of friends were fairly different to what Honey was used too, back in Arizona, all she had was Jaxon and his older sister. Though Angela and Eric were definitely the closest Honey would get to hanging out with Jaxon again and that seemed to be enough for her.

Meanwhile, Bella had showed up at Jacob Black's home with a couple of scrapped motorbikes. Despite her reasoning to rebuild them being the only way she could see Edward even if she knew it was delusions, she also knew that Honey loved motorbikes and was hoping that Jacob would fix one up for her. "Bella!" Jacob cheered as he walked up to her, embracing her in a tight hug. It wasn't hard to miss that Jacob Black had a minor crush on Bella Swan from when they were kids but as time went by, it seemed to fade though the embers were present and if she ever made the move on her, he'd accept it and take that step further.

"'Bout time you came by," Jacob told her as he pulled back from the embrace. "I brought you something," Bella replied as she pulled the tarp back revealing two dilapidated, rusting motorcycles. "Scrap metal. You shouldn't have," Jacob told her with a slight chuckle, his long hair swaying as he looked from the girl to the bikes. "I rescued them from the dump. They'd cost more than they're worth to fix... unless one had a mechanic type friend," Bella said while insinuating that he was that mechanic friend. "Me, being the mechanic type friend?" Jacob questioned receiving a shrug so he asked, "Since when are you into motorcycles?" Bella scoffed a laugh, "Recently..."

She cleared her throat, "But, uh, remember my best friend back in Arizona that I mentioned. Honey Parker?" Jacob looked up at the mention of Honey, he had heard many tales about the sweet girl. He even commented on how her name was clearly chosen for a reason if she was a sweet as honey. He wanted to meet her, to learn more about the girl that Bella spoke so highly about. "Yeah, what about her?" Jacob asked as he leaned on the truck. "She loves motorbikes so I was hoping that you could fix one of them up for her. She moved to Forks recently and I thought it'd be a good thank you gift for her friendship," Bella explained to the boy who perked up at the mention of the girl being in town.

"Where is she?" Jacob asked Bella intrigued, the brunette smirked slightly seeing the boys interest. "She's, uh, hanging out with friends from school. Didn't want to be too co-dependent on each other," Bella informed him before brushing her hair out of her face, "And I kind of want it to be a surprise for her." Jacob nodded at those words, "The parts alone will be pricey." Bella sighed, "I have a college fund I can dig into." Jacob chuckled, "Oh, Charlie's gonna love that." Bella shook her head, "Charlie won't know." Jacob raised his brows at that as he crossed his arms, "Wow. Lying to dad. Blowing through college money. Repairing dangerous machines -- that I'm guessing you'll want to ride as well as gift to Honey?"

Bella chewed on her bottom lip as Jacob spoke and rested her hands on her hips, "I really get it if you think this is stupid and reckless..." Jacob huffed, "Oh, it's totally stupid and reckless." He shrugged and leaned down a little bit, "When do we start?" Bella smiled at his question, she was relieved that he agreed to help. She got both of her desires, she would be able to use the motorcycle to see Edward and gift Honey something she's wanted for a long time as a thank you. She knew that Honey would tell her that thank you wasn't needed by the blonde would adore the bike, Bella knew that. Jacob, ignoring Bella's warning about the weight of the bikes, got the machines off of the back of the truck eager to work on them. Can you like someone without ever meeting them in person was all Jacob asked himself.

That had been a month ago, Bella had kept Honey updated with her hanging out with Jacob without giving away the surprise about the bike. Honey had completely established her place in Forks, she had brought life and colour into the Swan home when the furniture she ordered had shown up. With Charlie's approval, Honey had gotten them a new couch to replace the one that was falling apart and had put a feminine touch on the home. Bella had to admit that having Honey around was more than just as blessing as she and Charlie became less awkward with each other and began developing the bond they once had prior to Bella's visits stopping.

Honey cooked dinner most nights with Bella cooking the other nights, Charlie hadn't had such good cooked meals since he and Renée were married. With Honey's presence and Bella hanging out with Jacob, Bella's nightmares had practically stopped allowing Charlie to rest easy again. Which was for the best as hikers had been going missing and people had been talking about large bears roaming the forest. Charlie had told the girls to stay clear of the woods, Honey was okay with that as she was preoccupied with studying and hanging out with her new friends.

It was a Saturday morning when Bella walked downstairs with determination, she stopped and smiled as she noticed Honey was asleep at the table with her project in front of her, a blanket over her shoulders which had been Charlie's doing. "Honey, go to bed," Bella told the blonde waking her from her slumber. "I gotta do this," Honey replied as she yawned and stretched her body, pops filling the space. "You have until next Friday to finish it, Honey. Go sleep," Bella closed the book once it was marked, giving Honey a stern look. "Okay..." Honey muttered as she stood up, she stopped walking and turned to Bella, "Where are you going so early?" Bella smiled, "Time to test the bikes." Honey nodded, "Be careful please."

When Bella showed up with a wound on her head, Honey had hovered over her like a mother to her cub for answers. The blonde was unhappy with Bella and it was clear that she was ready to risk anything to keep her delusions alive. And while a part of Honey blamed Jacob for enabling the girl, she understood he was doing the same thing that Honey was; supporting the Swan girl however they could without overwhelming her in the process. So Honey sat Bella down and cleaned up the wound, she was glad that it wasn't too bad; head wounds always bled the worst. "You okay, Bell?" Honey asked as she rinsed off the cloth she had used to clean the wound. "Uh, yeah," Bella replied but Honey wasn't convinced.

"It may feel real but it isn't, Bella. And I think you know that," Honey said with her back to Bella, the brunette looked up at Honey and for the first time ever, the bright girl seemed. . . dull. "What?" Bella asked despite having an idea on what she was talking about. "It started off ghostly, didn't it?" Honey asked softly as she turned around and leaned back against the counter, the look on Bella's face told her all she needed to know. "And then, the more dangerous or the higher the adrenaline, they appear more, right?" Honey continued as she looked Bella in the eyes. "Yes," Bella answered, she wouldn't lie to Honey Parker.

"It's not real. It won't be real and those few seconds of seeing them... you'll be chasing it forever," Honey finished off, she watched as Bella looked down and she knew the internal battle in her mind was drowning her. "But it's something..." Bella told Honey who shook her head and walked up to Bella, placing her hand on the brunettes shoulder as she replied, "And it'll never be enough." The two looked at each other, one who was desperate to hold onto whatever she could of the man she loved while the other only wanted the best for the girl in front of her. "Just promise me one thing, Bella," Honey asked with a slight frown on her face. "Anything," Bella replied bringing Honey's smile back. "Be careful. And come back home to me and Charlie alive," Honey told her firmly. "I promise," Bella agreed.

Bella and Honey carried their trays to their friends' table with the blondes encouragement, they glanced at Bella before noticing Honey's raised brow so they didn't point it out. "I'll kill Tyler if he gave me his flu," Jessica commented. "It's going around. My sister was so sick she couldn't come on our hike this weekend... so she didn't see it," Angela replied though the freaked out expression on her face didn't go unnoticed by Honey. "Ang, maybe you should keep that to yourself--" Eric was cut off by Angela, "We saw something, Eric!" Honey looked around at everyone including Bella who was listening intently. "I believe you," Eric assured his girlfriend. "No, he doesn't. He's just trying to get lucky," Jessica said with a chuckle.

"Is that an option?" Eric asked but he was ignored, except for Honey who slapped him over the back of his head which made him laugh. "It was jet black and huge; on all fours, it was still taller than a person. A bear maybe," Angela explained in detail of what she could remember. "Or big foot," Jessica mocked. "Or an alien. Lucky you didn't get probed," Mike added with a teasing smirk on his face. "We saw it," Angela said quietly, she was clearly affected by this. "You're not the only one," Honey commented, she nudged Bella who nodded in agreement. "My dad's been getting reports at the Sheriff's station. A couple of hikers went missing. People are scared," Bella explained leaving the others chilled. Honey, however, was theorising on what or who it could be.

Something changed in the time of Bella's accident to now, Honey got up during the night and trudged into Bella's room after assuring Charlie that she had it handled. The "it" in question was the return of Bella's screams and nightmares, she climbed into the bed and winced as Bella's tight grip clawed into Honey's arms afraid to let her go. Honey sang softly to Bella, holding her close and comforting her as best as the girl could. "He left me..." Bella whimpered making Honey sigh. "I know..." Honey whispered back to her soul sister. "Not him... Jacob... he left me too... everybody leaves," Bella cried into Honey's chest. "I won't, Bella. I won't leave," Honey promised as she closed her eyes rocking Bella back and forth until her cries faded.

Charlie stood in the doorway, his arms crossed as he noticed Honey's exhaustion as she continued to brush her fingers through Bella's hair, humming a gentle melody almost subconsciously. "I don't know how to thank you for all of this," Charlie told the young woman, she opened her eyes and turned her head to him. "No thanks needed, Charlie. It's not a bother truly," Honey reassured him and it was true, it was second nature to her to be so motherly to those she cared about. "I thought she was doing better..." Charlie spoke with a frown. "I think she had a falling out with Jacob. Maybe I should introduce myself and talk to him," Honey replied to him.

"Words of encouragement from Honey Parker herself, sounds like an idea," Charlie said fondly. "Get some rest, Pops," Honey said as she closed her eyes, the title escaped her mouth unconsciously but Charlie smiled wide as he walked over, kissed the top of Bella's head and then Honey's before leaving and closing the door behind him. Honey slowly dozed off to sleep, her head resting by the small woven dreamcatcher allowing dreams to take over her consciousness. Bella had fully relaxed and no longer held a tight grip on the blonde, both eighteen year olds were completely calm and peaceful. At least for the night they are as the coming weekend, everything would change.

Rosemary Speaks. . .

Alright, so I'm skipping over a lot of the filler in early New Moon as I want to get into the territory of the wolves and pack. Plus, I didn't want Bella and Honey attached at the hip so while Bella hung out with Jacob, Honey was hanging with Jessica or Angela.

What do you think of Honey and Bella's conversation? How did Honey know that?

Y'all ready to learn more about Honey? 'Cause next chapter will have answers...

Also, Jacob crushing on Honey purely from what he learns from Bella's stories? Where you expecting that? Might be more than fate, huh?

Thoughts, Suggestions or Questions?

See you in the next chapter!
