Chapter 10

The doctor is friendly and I'm not as scared of doctors as I was three years ago. She's nice and gentle, her English is terrible but I understood her in the important parts. I filled in a form about my health, allergies and all those other stuff. When she was done checking everything, she recommended me to take the birth control pills, so I don't have the heavy cramps I always have during my period.

'That wasn't so bad, was it?' Sheila asks as we get in the car.

'No, it could've gone worse.' I admit with a sigh.

I drive Sheila home before going back to my apartment. I spend a little time talking with Lucifer before leaving, when he asks me about Shawn I try to dodge his questions.

I drive home, singing along with the songs playing on the radio. I park my car and walk into the lobby through the back door. I see Shawn looking at his phone, sitting on the couch next to the door. What is he doing here? Our second date is tomorrow.

'Hey, what are you doing here?' I ask, walking to him in my high heels.

The sound of my heels on the floor fills the lobby. Why is the lobby always so empty? He jumps to his feet and lifts me in the air while kissing me on the lips. His lips feel hot against mine. I feel the warmth of his hands through the jacket of my suit on my back. When he puts me down he hugs me tight. Not that I don't like it, but why is he acting like he hasn't seen me for a year?

He looks at me and puts my hair behind my ear. He kisses me again and I touch his hair, it smells so good and feels so soft between my fingers.

'What's going on? Did something happen to you?' I ask while I remove my lips from his, touching his shoulders.

'No, I was just worried about you. I wanted to ask you how your doctor's appointment went.'

'You could've just texted me.' I say.

'Wait, he's still here?!' Sam asks as he walks through the door, taking a bite of his sandwich.

'What do you mean, still here?' I ask Sam.

'He came by two hours ago, asking for you, but I told him you weren't home. He waited for two hours.' Sam tells me.

'Why? You should've called me. I would've come home earlier.' I look at Shawn.

'No it's fine, I was reading something anyway.' He says.

'Why did you need to go to the doctor?' Shawn asks, looking into my soul again.

I wait for Sam to disappear and close the door behind him, before telling Shawn about the doctor.

'I needed to get on birth control.' He raises his eyebrows and a wicked grin forms on his lips. 'Not because of you! Because of the pain during my period.' I tell him, I swat his chest.

'Maybe, just maybe, you also did it because of me.' He still has that stupid grin on his face.

'No, I did not. We haven't even slept together, so shut up.' I say. 'And birth control doesn't help against STDs.' I say, trying not to laugh.

His jaw drops, looking at me with big eyes.

'Did you really just say that I have an STD?' He laughs.

'Yeah, well... you're pretty hot, so it wouldn't surprise me.' I touch his face.

'I don't have an STD!' He says loudly.

'Okay! I believe you!' I kiss him again. 'I was just teasing.' I laugh.

'I didn't know you could tease.' He laughs.

I scan his body with my eyes. I hope he didn't notice. Shawn's wearing a black hoodie today, with black jeans and a dark blue denim jacket. I gesture him to follow me to the elevator as he tells me about his workout.

'Did you eat dinner?' Shawn asks me as I open the door of my apartment.

'No, but I'm not hungry. You?' I ask.

'I ate something at the gym before I came here, so yeah, I'm pretty hungry.'

'What do you want to eat?' I ask when I walk to my room.

I grab a binder from my room with all the menus of the restaurants in the city. I hand it to him and he starts to laugh.

'You really can't cook, can you?' He asks standing in the middle of the hallway.

'No, I can't. Food is a serious thing, and I wouldn't lie about my cooking skills.'

'You can cook something, right?'

'I can make a grilled cheese or eggs... Oh and I can make chicken, but that's it.' I tell him.

'A grilled cheese will do.' He says while handing me the binder.

'You're not in a fucking restaurant!' I laugh. 'Go make your own grilled cheese.'

'Feisty, I like it.' He says before giving me a quick kiss.

Shawn walks to my kitchen and I go back to my bedroom again. I need to get out of this suit. I put on shorts and a top, before putting on my robe. Shawn is in my kitchen, gathering the stuff to make a grilled cheese sandwich when someone knocks on the door. It's seven-thirty, who would knock on my door? Sam has my number, my whole family has a key. This is strange.

I walk to my door and when I open the door I see Bakker standing in the hallway. What the fuck is he doing here?! The strong smell of alcohol fills my senses. Is he fucking drunk again?

'You know Liz...' He shuts his eyes. 'I've always loved you.' He says putting his hand on the wall, so he doesn't fall.

Is he fucking joking?! I can't deal with him right now, I just wanted to have a relaxed evening with Shawn and now this pile of sadness shows up at my front door again. What am I going to do? After this information it will be awkward at work again, we finally worked past the awkward night he showed up drunk. I still don't care about him and his problems, I just want to be left alone. And I don't fucking care if he loves me or not.

'I don't fucking care.' I say with a sigh. He knows I'm done with this shit. 'You need to leave. Go home to your children or what the fuck you do at this time, but don't come here and ruin my evening.' I tell him.

'You're so fucking difficult!' He yells.

'I beg your pardon?!' I yell back.

'Just... let me... let me kiss you. One time.' He steps forward.

I slap him in his face. Who the fuck does he think he is?! I hear footsteps behind me and Shawn steps in front of me, shielding me with his body.

'Leave.' He says with a tone I haven't heard before.

'I knew she was sleeping with you!' Bakker yells. 'What makes him better than me?' He asks, trying to look over Shawn's shoulder.

'Why are you doing this, Bakker?' You can hear the lack of interest in my voice.

'I just love you Liz, and I think Ella always knew that.' He says again.

My stomach turns. I feel sorry for Ella, she had to live with him all this time. He's so pathetic. Maybe I'm not a sensitive person, and other people would feel sorry for him and talk about it, but I'm not those people. Shawn still stands in front of me, not saying anything, just looking at Bakker with a death glare.

'Just go Bakker.' I tell him again.

'I'm not going unless you kiss me.' He says.

'She's not kissing you.' Shawn says monotonously.

I hope it's the alcohol talking and not Bakker because I don't know if I want to work at the same office with him anymore if it isn't. I could always make my dad fire him if I tell him what he did... No, I can't do that, I need to solve my own problems.

'And who are you to tell me that!' Bakker screams, looking up at Shawn.

'Look, man, I don't want to fight you or call security or anything, we're just asking you to leave.' Shawn's voice is calm.

'So you're her boyfriend now?' Bakker starts to cry.

I take my phone out of my pocket and tell Bakker that I'm calling the police. Bakker starts to cry louder and I see Shawn's jaw move, I think he's trying not to laugh and a smile forms on my lips by accident. My life has been so easy, until three weeks ago. I don't know where this whole drama with Bakker came from, I just know I like Shawn and I want Bakker to leave.

'Oh bollocks!' I say loudly. I push Shawn to the side a little.

'What do you want from me, Bakker? What?! I'm not fucking kissing you, so just fuck off and get a life. There's no need to ruin mine!' I yell in his face.

'It's all your fault!' He yells at Shawn.

'What is my fault?' Shawn asks.

'Before you walked through that door she was my Liz, now she's always doing something else, not showing up to work for the first time in three years! I never should've assigned you to her!'

'Well... I'm glad you did.' Shawn says.

I see Bakker raise his hand and clench it into a fist, trying to hit Shawn in the face, but because Bakker is drunk it's easy for Shawn to grab his wrist before it connects with his face. I see the fear in Bakker's eyes, but I know Shawn isn't going to hit him back or anything.

'I'm done with this shit, sorry Beth.' He says before pushing Bakker back into the hallway, closing the door in his face.

'Should I call the police?' I ask with my phone in my hand.

'No, let him rot in his own misery.' Shawn says walking back to the kitchen.

Shawn's POV

The moment I met the guy at her office I knew he would be trouble. I never thought he loved her though. Maybe it was the alcohol talking? What if Beth decides she likes him instead of me? As he said, they have known each other for three years, she only knows me three weeks now. I know I killed it on the first date, I've never seen someone smile that big, but still. There's something inside of me that doubts her feelings.

'I'm sorry about that.' She says pointing at the door.

'It's not your fault.' I say throwing my burned grilled cheese in the garbage bin.

I look at her, she's gorgeous. She pulled her hair into a messy bun and she's wearing her glasses. I find myself staring at her when she looks at me with a smile.

'Is something wrong?' She asks when her smile disappears.

'No. Nothing is wrong. You're gorgeous.' I say my thoughts out loud.

'Thank you?' She blushes.

When she stands up her robe loosens and her cleavage is now visible. I try not to stare and focus on my second grilled cheese, I'm not letting this one burn. She walks to the fridge and pulls it open, I guess she got hungry from all the drama. My grilled cheese is finished and I take a seat next to her seat at the kitchen island. She has a very big kitchen for a woman that doesn't cook.

'What are you going to eat?' I ask when she's still looking at the fridge.

'This granola I was supposed to take to work today.' She says, throwing all the different things together in one bowl.

'Did you have a big fantasy when you were little?' I imagine her climbing in trees and running through woods, going on adventures in her own fantasy world.

'Yes, I did.' She answers, sitting down a couple of inches away from me.

Our legs touch and I picture my hand trailing up her leg, between her thighs. Fuck! I need to stop thinking about these things. I've been picturing things like this all week.

'Did you have many friends in high school?' I ask. She only told me about someone named Zayneb, who's her best friend I think.

'Not really. I always had Zayneb, but I wasn't good at making friends. I'm closed off, people say.' She rolls her eyes. I imagine her rolling her eyes at me like this when I make her come.

'Most of the time I only had guy-friends, but Lucifer didn't really like that because they were his friends too. And after that, I started hanging out with people I didn't like, just so I wasn't alone all the time.' She takes a bite of her granola.

'Fuck people who don't like you. They're stupid.' I say when I swallow the last bite of my grilled cheese.

She takes another bite of her granola, and the way her lips go around the spoon makes me wonder how her lips would look around me. My perverted thoughts scare me.

'Not everyone can like me.' She says with a smile. She is not aware of all the things I'm thinking right now.

'I do.' I smile, looking at her lips.

I move closer and press my lips against hers, she's caught off guard by my sudden movement and a drop of yoghurt falls onto her breast. I look at her for a moment before opening my mouth. She gives me a shy smile, which shows me her only dimple in her left cheek. My tongue leaves my mouth and I lick the drop of yoghurt off of her breast.

I back away from her and put my elbow on the kitchen counter looking at her with a smirk. Her chest rises and falls fast. Every time she inhales, her bra pushes her breasts, making them rise. She puts the bowl of granola down before putting her hands on my face, pulling me to her. I stand up and push her legs open with my knees, standing between them as I kiss her in her neck, her breasts and lips. My hands trail down her back to her ass. She's so hot, fucking hell.

I lift her off the stool, putting her down on the kitchen counter. Her fingers run through my hair and she pulls at it a little to make me look at her. She wets her lips with her tongue, and I kiss her again, letting my tongue slide into her mouth.
