The whole living room was silent. No one was answering Dazzline's question. And I could tell she was getting angrier each second.

"I asked a fucking question and I demand a fucking answer, dad, what the fuck do you want? Why the fuck are you here?!" Dazzline yelled.

"Whoa...chill young lady, too many cuss words in just one sentence, Dazzline, this is now how you were trained you" he chided and I could only scoff.

"You never brought me up to be anything..dad" Dazzline retorted.

The tension was high here. And mom was already panting.

"Calm down, Dazzline" mom said slowly. It was like she was picking her words carefully so she wouldn't make things worse.

"Oh please mom, don't tell me to fucking calm down mom!" Dazzline yelled. She was already crying and I immediately started to regret telling Dazzline to come home.

When dad saw the divorce papers, he started insulting mom, he almost raised his filthy hands on her and when Dazzline tried to get between them, his exact words were;

"don't you dare get into this, you bastard! I'm very sure you were the one who instigated Amelia into doing this! Everything changed ever since you came into our lives! I regret the day I decided to make you our daughter!!".

Ever since then, Dazzline hated her parents, then she finally transferred the hatred to Dad. She's the main reason why Mom decided to move here.

"Calm down Dazzline, I'm here to talk to your mom and to see my children. Then I'd leave" Dad replied and Dazzline muttered something like like you care.

"Do whatever you want, leave before six, Mom's fiance is coming over" Dazzline said before storming upstairs.

I made myself comfortable on the couch before putting my ear pods.

"Nathan, your mom and I want to have private discussion" Dad said and I glared at him.

"If this is an indirect way of you saying I should get out then you're dreaming" I replied. "Besides, I'm not listening".

"Okay then" he said and turned to mom. I reduced the volume of my music so I could listen to their conversation.

What? I'm curious to know why that man is back.

"Amelia" he began.

"What?" Mom's voice was cold.

"I need some cash. One million dollars" he replied and my eyes widened in shock.

He came back cause he needs cash?

"Sorry? What makes you think I'm in the position to give you that kind of money?" Mom asked, shock evident in her voice.

"Amelia, we both know that your net worth is more than thirty million. Just give me a million dollars, besides, our joint account...."

"You took all the money in our joint account, have you forgotten?" Mom snapped.

"Oh, forgive me, I forgot" he replied and laughed awkwardly, "I just really need the cash, Amelia".

Mom sighed. "what trouble have you gotten into?" She asked him.

"I'm owing a syndicate" he replied and my eyes widened again.

A syndicate...like seriously....a fucking syndicate?!

I instantly opened my WhatsApp and texted Dazzline.

          Dad is owing a drug syndicate.

Sis; oh, tell me you're joking.

         I'm not joking, Dazzline!

Sis; How come?!

           I don't know. That's why he's back! To collect money from mom.

Sis; Is she agreeing to help him?

        No, rn, she's telling him to get the fuck out of her house.

Sis; has he gone?

         Nope. He's waiting till after dinner.

Sis; not good.

And with that, she went offline. I sighed, knowing fully well that Dazzline may not come down for dinner.

* Dinner time *

I was sitting by the dining table, opposite dad, with Dazzline my my side and mom at the far end of the table.

Roman wasn't able to make it because he had work to do.

Mom and I, were watching dad as he played with Fayth. The girl looked like she was going to bite off his filthy fingers anytime from now.

Dazzline, was pressing her phone with one hand and eating with the other. She looked like she couldn't care that dad is here but I know,deep down, that it's a lie.

I was surprised when she came downstairs for dinner. Her eyes was red and puffy, like she had been crying a lot.

"Mom, isn't Fayth gonna eat? I think she's hungry, and he is making her uncomfortable" Dazzline finally said something since she same downstairs.

"You're right", mom said as she walked to dad, "I need to feed Fayth, bring her".

"But I wanna play with her first. Ain't I her father anymore?" He asked, refusing let go of Fayth. Dazzline was staring at him like she wanted to kill him and I was expecting her to get up and do something.

When she moved her attention back to her phone, I sighed, realizing that she was to gonna do anything. I stood up and forcefully took Fayth away from dad.

"You've overstayed your welcome. It think it would be best if you leave before I call the security" Mom said and Dad stood up.

"Thanks for the meal, Amelia", he said with a genuine smile, "and I'll really appreciate it if you could give me that money. I really need it".

"That's enough!" Dazzline snapped. "You really have no shame. Instead of trying to fix your family, all you're worried about is money?! I wonder how you even got our address! Now I'm gonna kindly ask you to get your dumb ass out of here!"

Dad just smiled and left the house. I gave Fayth to mom and hugged Dazzline. "Don't worry about him, Zari" I whispered into her ear as I felt my shirt getting wet.
