I saw her blush when I whispered, "I love you" to her. That reaction gave me hope—I'm sure she'll accept me now. I won't let her go again. I will win her back, no matter what it takes.
Suddenly, an idea popped into my head, and a wide smile crept across my face. But wait—I'll need someone close to Sohana to make this plan work.
"She’s in the hospital, so there must be someone there who's close to her. I'll wait until she comes out. She’ll definitely be with that person." I decided, slipping back into my car to wait for her.
Three hours passed, and it was now evening. The sun was setting, painting the sky in brilliant shades of orange and pink. The scene was mesmerizing, but my focus was elsewhere. I heard the sound of giggling and laughter, which snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned toward the hospital's entrance and saw interns walking out. I stepped out of the car, ready.
After a few moments, she emerged, walking beside another girl. They were laughing and talking, lost in conversation. Her eyes suddenly caught mine, and her brow furrowed in confusion. She walked towards me, followed closely by the girl at her side. I smiled as she stopped in front of me.
"You’re still here? Why?" she asked, clearly irritated.
"I’ll drop you home," I replied smoothly. She glanced over her shoulder at the girl she was with.
Her friend raised an eyebrow in a teasing manner, smiling mischievously at the two of us.
"I won't," Sohana replied firmly. I smirked and pulled her closer by the waist.
"Wtf? She’s right behind us! Can’t you see that?" Sohana gasped in shock, her voice rising.
"I know she can see," I whispered back, my voice low. "Let her witness how much Ruhaan Raichand loves his daisy."
She rolled her eyes at me, but I could see a hint of fluster beneath her annoyance.
"You’re coming with me," I insisted.
"Nooo! I can't. And even if I did, Preeti would feel left out," she protested, gesturing towards her friend.
"Then let’s take her with us," I said cheerfully, giving a thumbs up. Sohana groaned and shot me a frustrated look before kicking me lightly on the knee.
She walked around to the passenger side of the car and got in, sitting right beside me.
Oh yeah! She wants to sit next to me. That's a good sign.
I turned toward the girl, who smiled at me, showing off her slightly imperfect teeth.
"Hey, sister! You can sit in the backseat, if that’s okay with you," I said politely.
"Why would I mind? I’ll be glad to accompany both of you," Preeti replied and slid into the backseat.
I got behind the wheel and started the engine, heading towards their home.
We had driven for a while when Sohana suddenly turned to me, suspicion flashing in her eyes.
"Wait! How did you even get a car in Singapore?" she demanded.
"I bought it," I replied nonchalantly, enjoying the way both girls’ eyes widened in disbelief.
"Wow! Jiju, you're so rich!" Preeti exclaimed, and a wide grin spread across my face at her words.
Sohana shot her a death glare, which Preeti tried to avoid by staring out the window. Then Sohana’s eyes zeroed in on me, but I just responded with a cheeky grin.
"You jerk!" she muttered under her breath, and I chuckled softly.
"Stop the car!" she suddenly commanded. I pulled over immediately.
"What now, madam?" I asked, a playful edge to my voice.
"I want to grab a coffee," she declared before stepping out of the car.
I saw my opportunity and quickly turned to Preeti.
"Hey, Preeti!" I called out.
"Yes, jiju?" she responded sweetly, and I smiled.
"Can you help me with something?" I asked, keeping my voice low. She nodded eagerly.
"I want to propose to Sohana tomorrow at the beach. Can you help me bring her there?" I whispered. Her eyes widened, and she gasped in excitement.
"Whattt??? OMG!!!! Woww! Of course, jiju! But… how will I convince her to go to the beach?" she asked, furrowing her brows in thought.
I started to brainstorm, and soon, a playful plan came to mind. I leaned in closer, whispering the idea in her ear. She pulled back, giving me an incredulous look.
"Seriously? That plan?" she muttered with a look that screamed ‘no way.’
I pouted, putting on my best puppy-dog eyes.
"Come on, Preeti. Don’t you want me to be your permanent jiju?" I asked dramatically, and she sighed, defeated.
"Fine, okay! I’ll help you," she agreed, and we high-fived in celebration.
Just then, Sohana returned with three cups of coffee in her hands. She handed one to each of us, and we sipped quietly as I dropped them off at their home.
During the ride, I couldn’t help but steal glances at her. Occasionally, I even caught her looking back at me. I could see it in her eyes—she still had feelings for me. She was just too angry to admit it right now.
But no matter what, I’m going to do everything in my power to win her back. Tomorrow, I hope she’ll finally accept me, with her whole heart.
🧿
"Hello!" I responded to Preeti's call.
"Sohana, can you please come to the beach?" Preeti’s voice was laced with pain, causing my brows to furrow.
"What? What happened? Why are you at the beach? And why do you sound like that?" I asked, hearing faint sobs on the other end.
"I was playing in the water and slipped. I think I twisted my leg," she whimpered in pain.
"What?! Preeti, are you serious? Playing in the water, at night? Tell me you’re kidding!" I said, not quite believing her.
"I swear, Sohana, my leg’s twisted. It hurts so much. Please come. You know I don’t have anyone else here, just you. I’m really sorry for bothering you, but please come," she pleaded.
"Preeti, no need to apologize. I’m just worried about you. I’ll be there in 20 minutes," I sighed, before she suddenly screamed.
"Ayyy! And wear something nice! Put on a bit of makeup—just a little blush. You don’t need it, but still..." she added mischievously.
"What? Preeti, I’m coming to help you, not walk a runway!" I retorted, though her laugh made me smile.
"I know! But come on, you can't wear pajamas to the beach. You have dresses, right? Just wear something nice," she teased.
I rolled my eyes. "I’m not listening to you."
"For Ruhaan’s sake, please?" she said, leaving my mouth hanging open.
This girl! I swear I'll kill her.
"Okay, bye!" I hung up and headed to my closet, pulling out a party dress—just to humor her.
God knows why she wants me in a party dress at the beach. People show up in shorts, T-shirts, and men practically walk around half-naked here. And here I am, about to wear a fancy dress.
I chose a white floral midi dress with delicate blue roses. There was a slit on the left side. After slipping it on, I applied a bit of blush and a nude lipstick. At this point, I might as well take some pictures. I did too much makeup to waste it.
I grabbed my bag and headed outside. The cab I had booked was already waiting.
🧿
I reached the beach, but something felt off. The place was deserted. There wasn’t a soul in sight. I looked around for Preeti, but she was nowhere to be found.
I walked toward the water and noticed the moon’s reflection shimmering across the surface. It was beautiful, so I took out my phone and snapped a photo. I called Preeti, and she picked up after two rings.
"Preeti, where are you? I’m at the beach but can’t find you."
"Oh, I went home! I took a cab because you were taking too long," she replied with a laugh.
"WTF, Preeti?! You begged me to come, and now you’re home? You’re unbelievable!" I said, rolling my eyes.
"Sorry, Sohana. You enjoy yourself there. Bye!" she said, and the call ended.
Enjoy here? How?
There was no one around, and now I felt uneasy. I decided it was time to leave, but just as I turned, the place lit up. Fairy lights hung from the trees, casting a magical glow. I looked up at the sky, where lanterns floated gently, illuminating the night. It was breathtaking. I took another picture, smiling at the sight of a candlelight dinner setup along the coast, complete with a projector screen.
Clearly, someone had planned a special night for their beloved. My heart melted at the thought. How romantic! How perfect! I wanted something like this with Ruhaan...
Wait, what?
Ugh, shut up, Sohana.
Images started to appear on the screen. Curious, I stepped closer and read the words:
"Hey my daisy, thank you so much for coming into my life. You’ve filled my world with colors. Without you, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. You’ve transformed me, and now, I realize that my true happiness is you. I want to surrender myself to you completely, Sohana—my soul, my life, my everything. I know I’ve hurt you before, but give me one more chance to show you how much I love you. Please, make me yours and I promise, I’ll never let you go. I’m deeply in love with you."
My eyes brimmed with tears.
This guy... He's really going to make me his.
"Daisy." I turned around to see Ruhaan kneeling, holding a bouquet of roses.
"I love you," he said, as a soft melody began to play.
Tears blurred my vision as I took the bouquet from him. "Stand up!" I said, my voice quivering.
Ruhaan’s brows furrowed in confusion.
"I said stand up!" I repeated, and he slowly got to his feet.
I threw my arms around him, pulling him into a tight embrace. He wrapped his arms around my waist in return. I tilted my head slightly, cupping his cheek with one hand, still holding the roses in the other. Our tears mingled, and I leaned in to kiss his cheek softly.
We pulled apart, his gaze filled with love.
"Sohana, main aapse bahut pyar karta hoon. Aapne mujhe jeena sikhaya hai. Zindagi ka matlab samjhaya hai. Aur ab main apni nayi zindagi aapke saath shuru karna chahta hoon. Lekin yeh zindagi aapke bina adhuri hai. Ya to mujhe apna bana lo, ya mujhe is duniya se door kar do. Main aapke bina jee nahi sakta. Main marr jaunga—"
(Sohana, I love you very much. You taught me how to live and gave my life meaning. I want to start this new life with you, but without you, it will remain incomplete. Either make me yours, or push me away from this world. I can't live without you—I’ll die—)
I pressed my fingers against his lips, silencing him.
"Main to aapko 10 saal pehle hi apna chuki hoon, Ruhaan. Sirf aapka intezaar kar rahi thi. Aur aaj woh intezaar bhi khatam ho gaya."
(I made you mine ten years ago, Ruhaan. I’ve just been waiting for you. And now, that wait is over.)
"That means—"
"I love you, Ruhaan," I said, staring into his eyes. His lips curved into a smile as he cupped my face, our foreheads gently touching.
"I love you more, Sohana," he whispered, as tears continued to fall.
"I love you so, so, so much," he said, planting a soft kiss on my nose.
We embraced again, tightly, as if we never wanted to let go.
After a while, we parted, and Ruhaan held my hand gently. "Come on, I planned all of this for you."
I smiled, still trying to process that we were now a couple. Me and my crush—together. It felt unreal.
We walked over to the candlelit dinner setup, and I took a seat. Ruhaan sat across from me, and I raised an eyebrow, wondering why he was staring.
He chuckled and took out his phone, snapping a picture of me. Heat rushed to my cheeks, and I looked away, trying to hide my blush.
"You look beautiful tonight," he said with a soft smile.
"Th-thank you," I stammered.
What is wrong with me?
We spent the evening talking, eating the delicious food he had prepared himself. Thank God my man can cook. After our wedding, I won’t be cooking at all—wait, wedding? What am I even thinking?
I glanced at Ruhaan and imagined what life would be like if we got married. Spending our whole lives together... Oh my God.
"What are you thinking about, my daisy?" he asked, breaking my thoughts.
I shook my head, smiling. He stood up and extended his hand toward me. "Can I have this dance?"
I blushed as I placed my hand in his. "Wait... How can we dance on a beach? There’s sand everywhere," I said, puzzled.
"Anything is possible in love. Just take off your sandals," he replied with a grin, removing his shoes.
We kicked off our shoes, and he wrapped an arm around my waist while I looped mine around his neck. With our free hands entwined, we started to sway to the soft music playing in the background.
He twirled me gently, and I spun around him before he pulled me back into his arms, pressing a tender kiss to my forehead. Then, in one swift motion, he scooped me up in a bridal style, spinning us both in circles.
In that moment, our souls intertwined in the most beautiful way. A part of him became mine, and a part of me became his. We were incomplete without each other. And now I realized, it was meant to be. That’s why I fell for him ten years ago—because I was destined to be his. He fell in love with me, even when he didn’t want to, because he was meant to be mine. Two hearts, one soul.
"Sohana," he murmured, his gaze locking with mine.
"I love you, daisy."
"I love you more."
